Sherrell House is a purpose built modern friendly care home located in Chigwell Essex offering skilled professionals for a wide range of personal and nursing needs.

The home has two specialist dementia units as well as a nursing unit. All beds have en-suite facilities and are decorated to a high standard. The simple design and layout of the building provides wide corridors with good lighting. Lounges, dining rooms and quiet rooms are located around the home, with communal rooms on each floor, close to the bedrooms, so residents can choose how and to spend their day.

In addition to this, the home has a hair salon where you can enjoy being pampered and a cinema area should you want to watch a film. Wi-Fi is available throughout the building enabling contact with families and friends from afar to be maintained.

The resident chef prepares tasty home-cooked meals each day which are served in the three dining areas. Each meal is designed to suit individual food preferences and cultures and uses fresh ingredients.

The aim is to create a homely atmosphere and quality care services where people are treated with respect and dignity. A home from home where the resident and their families can relax, secure in the knowledge that their loved ones are safe.

My mother is happy to be a resident. The room is comfortable and the nurses are always on hand to help, any problems they always solve. The room is kept very clean as well the public areas. My 87 year old mum came to this lovely care home in November 25. I was a bit apprehensive at first,because she didn't want to stay. She wanted to go 'home'. But she has settled in lovely. All thanks to the wonderful staff, and she loves the food. Actually put on some weight. All good and positive stuff.

My sister has been here just over 2 months. I know if I can't get up to see her she is definitely looked after. I am so pleased she is happy and safe. The staff are so friendly and kind to my sister and to members of her family too. Nothing is too much trouble.

The whole team, management, nurses and carers are efficient and approachable.
The care, respect and kindness my mum is shown is amazing.
It's not always easy leaving a family member to be looked after by other people but I feel confident that my mum could

I can not praise all the staff enough at Sherrall House for the excellent care they provided for my father in his very short stay while in your care.
My father was moved from hospital to Sherrall House and sadly passed away a week later with his family at his side. During my father's time at Sherrall
House all his needs were constantly met, he was treated with compassion, respect and dignity until the very end.
All the staff at Sherrall House took so much time to support our family too while they were looking after my father. Nothing was never a problem for the outstanding staff who work incredibly hard.
Jane, The Home Manager has a wonderful home which she should be proud of and an amazing team who truly care for their residents and families.

My husband was only with you for a very short while. He and us his family were made very welcome from the moment we walked in the front door. All staff were very helpful and so very kind. It was very difficult for our family to accept that our father needed to move into a care home, due to his rapidly declining health and dementia. We were very stressed about choosing the correct home and are very happy to say that in the two months our father has been in Sherrell House, we have always
been pleased with our choice.
We viewed many care homes in the area and beyond, but felt our father would be happy at Sherrell House as it felt comfortable and homely, but also very professional with regards to the level of care provided.

I didn't know a service for people with dementia can be this good. Family care is often thought to be the best for our parents in my culture . But this care home does better than I dreamed possible . They allow visits from all relations , provide coffee and tea for guests & most of all. They are looking
after my mother very well. They also accommodate for special dietary requirements and all the residents here as so happy as now they have lots of new friends to chat with.
It's a bit like a 5 star all inclusive hotel but with medical teams ready for any incidents.
One staff member in particular was my contact there , but all the staff are exceptional so thank you .

My mother has been a resident here for 6 months. I have found the staff very caring and proffessional. They go a step further and nothing is a problem.
We are very pleased that my mother is being cared for in such a lovely home. The staff and management are excellent.

Have found all the staff friendly and helpful; they are respectful and caring to the residents.
The food is lovely, especially the soup each evening - obviously home made.
Both the dining room and lounge are light and airy; and like the rest of the home, clean and tidy.

Mum has now been at Sherrell House for three months. It's quite like a hotel with a large area where residents dine together and a large lounge and outdoor courtyard where they sit during the day. The lifestyle coordinators work very hard to make the resident's lives more colourful with various activities
during the week. Every time I visit there is something different going on. They have a regular performer who sings all the old hits live in the courtyard, he gives it 100% and puts a big smile on their faces. My mum hasn't danced for years but while being resident at Sherrell House we had some very precious moments together dancing and having fun. Most notably my mum's 90's birthday was her best ever. The managers and all the carers, kitchen staff, and housekeeping, they all do a fantastic job. Mum and I always go for a little walk around under the oak trees and also a second garden to the rear with seating. Thank you to all of the team at Sherrell House.

What a difference Sherrell House has made to my mum's quality of life. Last year she was in hospital for her birthday. Today she celebrated her birthday at Sherrell House and what a great time she had too! Two of the staff had her up dancing, sang to her and together with all the staff, presented her
with a beautiful cake the chef kindly made. Sherrell House has enabled her to have a wonderful day because of all of the amazing staff who care for her and all the residents with the utmost compassion and empathy. We are really very lucky and so grateful! Thank you all.

So far, my experience of my mother's care home is excellent, no complaints, she is so happy there. The staff's level of care and respect they have towards the patients is excellent, in my opinion. They are well fed, kept clean, entertained continuously, not just left to sit in a room. I am so happy

I have worked in the care sector for 19 years, but I was inspired to join Excelcare in particular because of the strong family feel and environment. All team members make you feel like you belong from the moment you start to work here. From when I first visited Sherrell House, I was so impressed with the compassion I could feel from the team every time that they spoke to, or about the people living in the home.


When I started at my first job in care, I was quite disheartened as there was no real team spirit or motivation. However, I am so glad that I continued in care, because that is certainly not the case at Sherrell House. I am part of a team that puts in 100% all of the time and is incredibly passionate. This is a fantastic environment, and I’m looking forward to seeing where my future in Excelcare takes me.
