I am worried about security after the loss of a valuable wedding ring, also, all good quality new clothing just disappears. My husband has lots of clothes missing! We don't buy expensive clothes for him anymore, for fear that they never come back to his room even though they are labelled clearly.

My mother has been a resident at Sherrell House for almost seven years. During that time we have been more than happy with the care and support she has received. The staff are friendly, caring and professional. We particularly like the family get-togethers, i.e. BBQ and Christmas lunch.

While my mother was there for palliative nursing I found the standard of care excellent. Nothing was too much for the carers and nursing staff. I would visit every day and I found my mother clean and dressed for my visits.

My father has settled into Sherrell House and is comfortable with his surroundings. I feel there needs to be much more short span activities on the first floor which will enable residents to feel more relaxed, rather than just sitting and being restless with nothing to do. There never seems to be enough staff, residents waiting to go to the toilet can sometimes take forever.

The staff are lovely, kind and considerate but more needed. A good clean of lounge chairs and net bedroom curtains wouldn't go amiss!

I am a regular visitor to Sherrell House since my mother-in-law moved there to be cared for. Each time I visit I am humbled by the high level of care and compassion that the staff show towards my mother and the other residents. Once I raised an issue and it was dealt with immediately, by the manager and the staff, with the utmost openness and eagerness to solve it.
I would also like to mention the kitchen. Not only do they produce great menus they also willingly and warmly respond to any special request.

We quite often go out to sit in the garden and on the way, pass the laundry, hair salon and the houskeeping staff. They always smile, greet my mother-in-law by her name and even find time for a small chat with her. My mother-in-law, as well as me, finds it warm and friendly.

Since entering the care home the staff have made me welcome, they are caring and tend to all my needs with a smile and kind words.

Unfortunately, I am unable to write as my hands are not strong and my mobility is limited so I have to rely on others to assist me in various things. The food is good and always served with a smile.

Many staff caring and kind. However, I do not feel enough attention is given to the detail of personal care e.g. oral hygiene not performed regularly or shaving and razor care. It took a long time here for my father's floor covering to be replaced in his bedroom but now done it is much brighter in his room and easier to clean.

I visit my friend about once a week and my daughters and son also visit regularly. We all find the standard of care good although some air conditioning would be good in the main lounge during the hot weather. There do not seem to be the same number of activities as in the past.

Mum's health and general wellbeing have improved significantly since she came to Sherrell House in March 2018. All of the staff are so helpful and caring and inform us immediately of any concerns regarding Mum that they have. Reception staff, support carers, cleaners, everyone in fact that we have met since March are all so respectful and caring. We are very pleased we chose Sherrell House.

My dad spent his last two weeks at Sherrell House. The staff made him and the family so welcome. They were all so wonderful and caring. They showed genuine interest in my dad and all got to know him in such a short time. They cared for him with dignity and my dad was happy there. We only wish we put him in Sherrell House earlier than we did. Thank you so much to all the wonderful staff. God bless you all xxx.

My mum has had exemplary care while she has been here. She had lived at home until she was ill and had to come into residential care. We should not have worried as it has been great. She will be 101 on Saturday and she has put on weight and is joining in. Thank you Sherrell House.

I am a qualified nurse and midwife with additional qualifications in psychiatric and community nursing, giving me a broad and well-rounded clinical background. Before working in elderly care, I gained extensive experience in Intensive Care, specialising in cardiac care, and I also hold a qualification in nutrition management, which supports a holistic approach to residents’ health and well-being.

Caring for older people is something I am deeply passionate about. Every resident has a life story that deserves to be respected and honoured, and I strongly believe they should always be treated with kindness, dignity, compassion, and the highest standard of care.

I chose to join the Sherrell House team because of its strong reputation for delivering high-quality, person-centred care and the commitment shown by its compassionate and dedicated team.

Outside of work, music has always been a big part of my life. I used to play both the piano and saxophone, and although it has been a while, my love of music remains. I also enjoy cooking and like to think I can occasionally channel my inner Michelin-star chef!
