I'm Thelma, and I am the Home Manager here at the beautiful Acacia Lodge! We have one of the biggest homes, but we still have a wonderfully close knit family caring for residents and their families.
Alina is a qualified registered nurse with nine years of experience in the care sector. Holding an NVQ Level 5 in Leadership and Management for Adult Care, she has a deep passion for supporting residents and fostering a positive environment.
Alina brings energy, warmth, and a smile to her role, treating the care home as her "second home", and embracing a family-like ethos. She is committed to making a difference every day by prioritising residents' happiness and well-being. Alina’s dedication ensures that joy and positivity are at the heart of the care she provides.
Hi, my name is Wendy!
I began my employment at Acacia Lodge in 2013 in the Housekeeping Department but soon realised that doing activities was something I wanted to try and would enjoy.
When the opportunity arose I applied for the role immediately. My manager has been my mentor and adviser and has encouraged me to keep the momentum going with everything I plan. Thelma nominated me for the Care Home Awards in 2018 and I made it to the final seven. A proud moment!
The best part of my role is bringing joy and laughter and creating special moments with our residents, families and staff. Offering reassurance and a hug to residents when needed is also so important to me. A chat and a cup of tea go a long way to making someone feel wanted or respected.
My role is important because, without the daily stimulation of activity, it is easy to become withdrawn, lethargic and poorly. Using my person-centred care skills I endeavour to make sure that everything is an activity, from care to meal times. Activities cover many daily tasks as well as the usual fun things.
