Acacia Lodge

Acacia Lodge Care Home is a very welcoming home. The staff are very dedicated and have given my mother wonderful care during her four and a half years with them. They work so hard and coped with Covid better than care homes in the surrounding area.

Mum was admitted to Acacia Lodge in May 2022 following hospital discharge after a fall at home and breaking her hip. Right from the start she was made to feel welcome and every assistance was given to help her settle in. She feels safe, loves her room and says 'they have a great laugh'. Family worries have reduced greatly and a visit to Mum these days is a pleasure. The staff are caring, attentive and approachable. The manager responds quickly to any queries and nothing is too much trouble. Highly recommend.

I would like to say how impressed I have been with my mother's carer and the team over the last year and a half. They all went above and beyond to do the best for my mother and to support our family, right down to attending the funeral last week. Mother's carers, care and attention to my mother's medical history and support at each and every step of the way have been second to none. The family's worries and concerns have also been put to the forefront of her attention, and she was available to chat at every step of the way. Support with medication was a number one priority, which was considered and tweaked. I couldn't have wished for better support.

Acacia is a friendly, clean, caring and inviting care home. My mother is extremely happy.

We, as a family, have been reassured that our Mother has received the best available care as her needs have changed throughout her illness with Dementia. The team at Acacia Lodge have been informed, professional and caring in their care for her whilst also making sure our concerns and wishes are also considered. Our difficult journey has been made less so by the team at Acacia.

The staff at Acacia are absolutely superb with patients with dementia. My father was with the team for years and I am so grateful to them for how they looked after him. They managed his dementia by getting to know him really well, understanding all the triggers that caused him anxiety, and systematically dealing with each one in a way that comforted and reassured him. He was transformed when he was moved to Acacia. The patience and personal attention of the team is awe-inspiring. Our thanks and gratitude to all your wonderful team.

When looking for a care home for my mum, who was ill with Dementia, our first priority was for kind, attentive staff who knew how to treat someone with dementia with dignity and respect. We found that at Acacia Lodge. Dementia made my mum difficult to care for, and they always did their best for her. They’ve been very friendly and kind to us as a family and supportive when she passed away. We couldn’t have asked for more. Highly recommended!

All the staff were very kind and compassionate with my dad. It was like home from home! When he passed away everyone, especially the manager, were so supportive. Each time I was able to visit, I could see how all the staff I met were so kind and I could see the care given. NHS staff could learn a thing or two!

We had a very good experience of Acacia Lodge for my father, who was a resident for 3 and 1/2 years. In the beginning, dad did not want to leave his own house, but within weeks of moving in, he became very settled. He became happier and more relaxed than I had seen him for a long while. In fact, he felt so comfortable that his main cause of stress became the fear that he would be forced to leave. The staff were amazing and always cheerful. The staff also didn’t change much, so dad saw the same faces throughout his time there, which became important as his dementia advanced. We, as a family, could not have chosen a better care home.

We cannot express strongly enough how grateful we are to all the staff at Acacia Lodge for their outstanding care and support to our Mum and to us throughout her last days - truly remarkable. They even managed to take her into the garden to feel the sunshine on her face, something she had not enjoyed for some years. Acacia Lodge is a very special place, run by people that truly care. A huge THANK YOU to everyone who looked after Mum so well.

My step-father went to stay at Acacia Lodge in May 2020 in the middle of a pandemic with a broken shoulder and we did not think he would be returning home due to needs. He made an excellent recovery and returned home this week. The staff were fantastic and always chirpy and happy and the manager was very hands-on and clear and always at the end of the phone, took your call or called you back. The manager also organised outside safe visits for families even at very late notice and it was never too much trouble to bring families together. I never went inside the home due to Covid so I can't confirm 100% but the only negative he said was he felt the room was quite small and always so hot with only a tiny bit of window that would open. Fans were provided and it was also during the summer.

My father needed to go into a dementia care home as an emergency as in April 2020, a huge challenge finding availability in a suitable care home during covid-19; as most had closed their doors. We discovered Acacia Lodge, we had not heard of it and by golly, we are so pleased that we managed to obtain a place here for Dad. The employees, every one of them, are super professional, helpful and friendly; they are super with, and they provide marvellous care to their patients; they make time to speak with the patients and the families to get to know them, and nothing is too much trouble. There are tasty meals for residents and lots of tea and afternoon cakes. When visiting Dad, we are always offered a cuppa and often a piece of cake too. On Dad's birthday, the chef kindly made a delicious birthday cake and a fuss was made, all especially for Dad. Naturally, we were anxious about placing Dad into a care home, however, our anxieties have dissipated. Acacia Lodge provides a home from home experience that we cannot fault, and we have every faith that Dad is being cared for in the most professional, dignified and caring manner.

Acacia Lodge is an amazing place; it is well managed and employs the most genuinely caring staff. The residents are treated with so much dignity and respect and are all treated as the individuals they are. The staff show true dedication to their work, their friendly, happy nature is a big factor in the day to day happiness of the residents. Acacia Lodge has provided a tremendous degree of comfort and peace of mind to our family, as we had all witnessed an exemplary level of care and compassion shown by each and every one of their staff.

My husband came to Acacia Lodge from hospital, where he had caught Covid. They needed his bed at the hospital. I couldn't be more pleased with the kindness to us both. The staff are good with him and he is happy there. I f I get any worse I would be more than pleased to join him. Despite lockdown, I can visit him with social distancing.

To the amazing management team and dedicated, friendly staff at Acacia Lodge who have given my brother his smile back. They have created this wonderful bubble of human kindness and have turned what could have been a difficult transitional period for my brother into a very positive experience. You are all angels in the true sense of the word, and we owe each and every one of you a debt of gratitude for your exemplary care during these uncertain and challenging times. Thank you will never be enough.

My lovely wife was admitted to Acacia Lodge three years ago with advanced Alzheimer's. I nursed her at home for seven years before that until it became too difficult not having the skill or the necessary equipment. It was heartbreaking. However, she has been so well cared for and is so content at Acacia that I have no need for regret or worry. My sister is also in the same home and is wonderfully looked after. They have gone through the worst of the pandemic with no casualties from staff or guests by operating in the most efficient way possible. They are a remarkable group run by angels of mercy.

My father has been at Acacia Lodge for 18 months. In that time he has been well cared for. I wanted to write a review now, because of the amazing work the staff are doing during the Covid 19 lockdown. We have not been able to visit my father during this time. It was his 90th birthday on Friday and this of course meant that we could not be with him to celebrate. I spoke to the team at Acacia and they agreed that they would arrange for my father to be positioned by the window at a certain time so that I could wave through the window. They also ensure that he had plenty of celebrations and fun on the day. He was absolutely delighted. I would like to thank everyone for their hard work and patience, especially during this particularly difficult time.

We are very grateful to all the team at Acacia Lodge for their care of Grandma, the other residents and staff during these challenging times. It must be incredibly difficult but they have still arranged time for us to 'videocall' and communicate with Grandma wherever possible. We have seen how kind and caring the staff are and continue to be, the facilities and activities are excellent - and we know the food is and has always been delicious!

Acacia Lodge has been looking after my dad since December, the staff are very caring, and committed to giving him the best time whilst he is a resident with them. Nothing is to much trouble, and dad is happy and settled, and that's all we can ask as a family.
