My mum has been here just over a week and has been welcomed into the home with open arms.
The management and all staff cannot do enough for my mum and also reassured me that she will be fine as you can imagine I was very upset that mum was having to go into a residential home .
Acacia Lodge is such
a happy and friendly place and I would highly recommend to anyone who is in the same situation that I was in .
I feel so much better now knowing mum is being looked after 24/7 in such a beautiful home and by amazing management and staff . I am so pleased I chose this home for mum I cannot thank them enough the way they are looking after my mum.
Reply from Stuart Lamacraft, on behalf of the team at Acacia LodgeThank you for sharing such a heartfelt review. I am very impressed with the care, dignity and warmth my mother has received over the last year. She has settled in so well and loves the position of her room in the corner as she has plenty to see from her window.
She often talks about the excellent care she receives from the staff, and we have also
observed this. The home is kept to a high standard of cleanliness, and recently there has been an upgrade of the lounges, kitchens and some rooms with a lot of thought gone into displaying a homely feel. We know Mother is well cared for here. A great choice!! Thank you.
Reply from Stuart Lamacraft, on behalf of the team at Acacia LodgeThank you so much for your kind words. We're delighted to hear that your mother feels so at home and well cared for, and that she enjoys her lovely room and the view from her window. It's wonderful to know that the recent improvements and the team's dedication have made such a positive difference - your reassurance means a great deal to us all.

Each time I visit Acacia Lodge, I am met with smiling faces on staff, no matter what level they are. The staff have time to communicate with residents and visitors, and the care provided is tailored to meet the needs of the individual. Lovely calm atmosphere, the food choices are good and well prepared
and presented.

As a family, we carefully reviewed the three care homes in Henley. One proved too expensive, and the other two, Acacia Lodge, was a clear winner. The management and staff were well established and projected a warm and very caring ambience. My wife has enjoyed well appointed bedroom, and a sound array
of facilities together with an admirably varied and tasty choice of food (far better than I was able to provide at home!).
Reply from Stuart Lamacraft, on behalf of the team at Acacia LodgeThank you for taking the time to share your thoughtful feedback. Your kind words mean a great deal to everyone here.

I am very impresses with the care and compation that they give to client and family.
They truely helped me through a very traumatic time having to put my husband in care as i could no longer health issues and body strength cope and do things for him.
After 50 years of marriage this was and still
is hard mentaly.
One of the best things is i can go any time of day, as i only live 15 minutes walk away this is a godsend.
Full marks to ALL STAFF from office to cleaners.

Kindness is the greatest gift that anyone can have. I moved into Acacia Lodge a week ago today, and the kindness I have received and am still receiving is heartwarming and quite wonderful. I'm in my nineties and have happily lived independently for over 50 years. I have crippling arthritis. Last Monday
I fell on my back - the worst pain. Time to go into a care home. Acacia Lodge said that I could move in. I love my new forever home - the best ever.
Reply from Stuart Lamacraft, on behalf of the team at Acacia LodgeThank you so much for sharing such a heartfelt review. Friend returned to the care home for palliative care after 3 weeks in hospital. She had been in the home for over 10 years. In three days of returning from the hospital to passing away, the staff could not have been kinder or more helpful, also, when returning to sort her room, was only met with help
and kindness.

Current Review Score: 9.8 (9.774)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.8 (9.774) out of 10 for Acacia Lodge is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 29 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 29 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.774 for Acacia Lodge is calculated as follows: ( (266 Excellents x 5) + (66 Goods x 4) + (5 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 337 Ratings = 4.774
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Acacia Lodge is based on 29 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 55 registered maximum number of service users is 11, which has been reached with 29 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Hi, my name is Wendy!
I began my employment at Acacia Lodge in 2013 in the Housekeeping Department but soon realised that doing activities was something I wanted to try and would enjoy.
When the opportunity arose I applied for the role immediately. My manager has been my mentor and adviser and has encouraged me to keep the momentum going with everything I plan. Thelma nominated me for the Care Home Awards in 2018 and I made it to the final seven. A proud moment!

The best part of my role is bringing joy and laughter and creating special moments with our residents, families and staff. Offering reassurance and a hug to residents when needed is also so important to me. A chat and a cup of tea go a long way to making someone feel wanted or respected.

My role is important because, without the daily stimulation of activity, it is easy to become withdrawn, lethargic and poorly. Using my person-centred care skills I endeavour to make sure that everything is an activity, from care to meal times. Activities cover many daily tasks as well as the usual fun things.
