The home is a very relaxing environment. The care is excellent but there is no feeling of being institutionalised. The residents can make their own decisions as to when to get up or go to bed and also where to have their meals.
In the good weather, they are encouraged to enjoy the lovely garden and
also go on trips in the minibus to a garden centre etc.
There are lots of interesting activities.
My mum enjoys the musical ones.

Acacia Lodge has become a place of peace and contentment for my father. I will never be able to convey my gratitude enough to the manager and her entire team for the time, care, consideration and kindness they have given to my father who can be challenging to say the least. The staff are incredibly
tolerant, understanding and supportive. The manager is always at hand and so very kind and helpful.

As Mum's condition has progressed, she now requires a lot more one to one care. The staff are very attentive and caring towards both relatives and residents. I would have no hesitation in recommending Acacia to friends etc.
Mum has been at Acacia for nearly eight years and we as a family are very happy
with the way she is looked after and cared for.

My mother-in-law loved Acacia Lodge and made many friends. Sadly she passed away recently and the care staff could not have been more helpful to us at a very sad time. I know that my mother-in-law had many happy times there.

Handling the vulnerable and the elderly 24/7 is all about the call of duty. Handling the elderly 24/7 with steadfast patience, attention and affection is above and beyond the call of duty. This is a care home so wonderfully staffed with a kind and skilled team of people that the word care in this organisation
should be upgraded to read, 'Acacia Lodge, the MOST CARING of homes'.

Very happy to see my mother clearly enjoying her life at Acacia. She is always in a good mood when I pop in and obviously gets on well with the carers.
It's a great relief for my wife and I to know she is in good hands because having looked after mum for several years ourselves we know how challenging
it can be.

Mum has been resident for 4 1/2 years. During that time any concerns that have arisen have been dealt with promptly and appropriately.


Staff are always caring and cheerful and ready to help. There is plenty of entertainment to occupy the residents, nice touches include visits by children from a

local school, which my mother much appreciates.


I would be happy to recommend Acacia Lodge to my friends.

My mother moved to Acacia Lodge 6 months ago at the age of 90, having never left her hometown 2 hours away. Staff were welcoming and helped her to settle and feel at home. They are kind, polite and make time to chat with her. They treat her with respect and give her as much or as little help as she
requires, allowing her to maintain some independence.
Management is efficient, the food excellent and I would not have chosen anywhere else in town.

Hi, my name is Wendy!
I began my employment at Acacia Lodge in 2013 in the Housekeeping Department but soon realised that doing activities was something I wanted to try and would enjoy.
When the opportunity arose I applied for the role immediately. My manager has been my mentor and adviser and has encouraged me to keep the momentum going with everything I plan. Thelma nominated me for the Care Home Awards in 2018 and I made it to the final seven. A proud moment!


The best part of my role is bringing joy and laughter and creating special moments with our residents, families and staff. Offering reassurance and a hug to residents when needed is also so important to me. A chat and a cup of tea go a long way to making someone feel wanted or respected.


My role is important because, without the daily stimulation of activity, it is easy to become withdrawn, lethargic and poorly. Using my person-centred care skills I endeavour to make sure that everything is an activity, from care to meal times. Activities cover many daily tasks as well as the usual fun things.
