Both my parents spent the last 18 months of their lives in Acacia Lodge, where they were tenderly looked after. In the later stages of each of their lives they needed nursing care, which was delivered at a high professional standard, but also with loving care. Every member of staff that I met was courteous
and helpful. I cannot praise the level of care highly enough, which was delivered with such a good and understanding nature, even in the most difficult times. All this was especially important to myself and my brother, as we lived a long distance away and needed to feel confident that both parents were well looked after.

The entire staff I have met are pleasant, caring, willing, helpful and friendly towards visitors and residents alike.
No voices are raised or have been during the times I have visited. The residents are treated with dignity as we would wish to be treated.
The dining room is welcoming and tables set
out tastefully. The visiting rooms on both floors provide a relaxing environment to meet the other residents or family and friends.
Any small problems seem to be solved or ironed out as soon as they are bought to the notice of the staff - all in all exceedingly satisfactory.

The home is a very relaxing environment. The care is excellent but there is no feeling of being institutionalised. The residents can make their own decisions as to when to get up or go to bed and also where to have their meals.
In the good weather, they are encouraged to enjoy the lovely garden and
also go on trips in the minibus to a garden centre etc.
There are lots of interesting activities.
My mum enjoys the musical ones.

Acacia Lodge has become a place of peace and contentment for my father. I will never be able to convey my gratitude enough to the manager and her entire team for the time, care, consideration and kindness they have given to my father who can be challenging to say the least. The staff are incredibly
tolerant, understanding and supportive. The manager is always at hand and so very kind and helpful.

As Mum's condition has progressed, she now requires a lot more one to one care. The staff are very attentive and caring towards both relatives and residents. I would have no hesitation in recommending Acacia to friends etc.
Mum has been at Acacia for nearly eight years and we as a family are very happy
with the way she is looked after and cared for.

Handling the vulnerable and the elderly 24/7 is all about the call of duty. Handling the elderly 24/7 with steadfast patience, attention and affection is above and beyond the call of duty. This is a care home so wonderfully staffed with a kind and skilled team of people that the word care in this organisation
should be upgraded to read, 'Acacia Lodge, the MOST CARING of homes'.

Very happy to see my mother clearly enjoying her life at Acacia. She is always in a good mood when I pop in and obviously gets on well with the carers.
It's a great relief for my wife and I to know she is in good hands because having looked after mum for several years ourselves we know how challenging
it can be.

Mum has been resident for 4 1/2 years. During that time any concerns that have arisen have been dealt with promptly and appropriately.

Staff are always caring and cheerful and ready to help. There is plenty of entertainment to occupy the residents, nice touches include visits by children from a

local school, which my mother much appreciates.

I would be happy to recommend Acacia Lodge to my friends.

Current Review Score: 9.6 (9.623)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.6 (9.623) out of 10 for Acacia Lodge is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 14 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.9 out of 5 from 14 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.773 for Acacia Lodge is calculated as follows: ( (130 Excellents x 5) + (29 Goods x 4) + (4 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 163 Ratings = 4.773
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.85 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Acacia Lodge is based on 14 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.85
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 55 registered maximum number of service users is 11, which has been reached with 14 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Job Title: Home Manager Joined: 2015

In 2015, I became the Registered Manager at Acacia Lodge, and it has been a fulfilling journey ever since.

I love heading up our dedicated team, where each member goes above and beyond daily to deliver outstanding care to our residents. The camaraderie among the staff is truly inspiring, and we work collaboratively to ensure that every resident feels valued and cared for.

The best part of my role is witnessing the joy on our residents’ faces as they engage in activities and enjoy their daily lives. It’s heartwarming to see them smile and feel a sense of belonging in our community. Being part of their lives and the Acacia Lodge family is incredibly rewarding.
