The care my mother in law receives at Silver Springs is nothing but amazing. The team ensure her needs are met (as they do with all the residents) and they show genuine care. There is a brilliant range of activities, which caters for all likes and interests.
Meal times are sociable events, with the residents floral arrangements on the tables and a good choice of food.

Visitors are made to feel very welcome and nothing is too much trouble.

Having viewed a number of Care Homes, as soon as we (myself and two members of my husband's family) set foot into the Reception Area of Silver Springs we thought "this is it". The light, the space, the welcome and overall feel of Silver Springs was so comforting. My husband has a lovely room with double doors which open onto a green space with a view of trees and a feeling of peace and quiet.. He is comfortable and so well cared for. When eventually a decision to move a loved one into a Care Home is made. this really is a big thing and the support and kindness I received at this time was so much appreciated. The staff are so caring, well trained and friendly. All managed to the highest standard by Joanne. There is no feel of "Care Home". It feels like Home. The level of care, I believe, is above and beyond what I had dared hope for. The restaurant is light, and airy and the quality and choice of food is excellent, as are the kitchen staff.

Silversprings is housed in beautiful gardens and is welcoming as soon as you enter. The home is well equipped, each room having its own en suite, 2 lounge areas downstairs and one on the first floor. Although my husband and myself have had contact with Silversprings over the last few years, sadly his health has declined as such that he is now a resident. It has been a heartbreaking decision but has eased the stress of caring for him myself and I feel like his wife again. All the staff are so friendly and caring individuals, very supportive, and all appear to be happy in their work, and they all spoil my husband! The food is very good, endless cups of tea and cakes and ice creams most afternoons. There is a daily activity programme which is varied and tailored for all the residents. Can't praise Silversprings enough, thank you all.

I have found the care staff seem to have a very sensitive understanding of the demanding issues associated with dementia. My sister in law is always treated with respect and encouragement.
On Friday evening my husband and I attended a musical evening at Silversprings. From the minute of our arrival we were warmly welcomed, with my sister in law nicely dressed and ready for the concert. With only 2 care staff in full attendance all the residents behaved impeccably, with any of their care needs attended to throughout the evening. So thank you for a splendid evening.

My mother is very happy and settled at Silversprings. She had a recent medical episode and the care provided when she was discharged from hospital has been second to none. It was clear how pleased she was to be back "home" and also to see all the familiar faces around to look after and care for her.

My mum has been a resident at Silversprings in Thorrington, Essex, for several years. She has vascular dementia and, throughout her time there, has received excellent specialist care.

On 22 March this year, Mum celebrated her 100th birthday-an incredible achievement. The staff at Silversprings truly went the extra mile to make it a special day. As well as providing a private room for family and friends to celebrate together, they decorated it with banners and balloons. The chefs prepared a lovely buffet, including options for those with specific dietary requirements. One member of staff even made Mum a beautiful birthday cake, while another bought her a lovely dress.

We all had a wonderful time, and I can't thank the staff and management enough for making such a momentous occasion even more special.

I am very happy that we found Silversprings for my father. He has settled in well and made some new friends. The staff are lovely and I find Joanne the manager very easy to speak to if I have a query. My mum has been a resident living with dementia for a while now. Myself and my sister are now not feeling as stressed as we were before mum moved in to Silversprings. The care team really get to know the residents and their family members. When we visit mum it is just a lovely daughter and mum visit. The level of care is really good and the food always looks lovely. The activities programme is published early every week with a variety of games, exercise, crafts and music for all to enjoy. Everyone is encouraged to get involved but each resident is treated as an individual who can make their own choice. This is a great care home.

The staff and management are excellent every one is treated wtih are and dignity from the moment you arrive. The home is kept to a high standard of cleanliness. Food is very good with freshly cooked meals and options every day. The rooms have built in bathrooms and are cleaned daily. My mum is a full-time resident at SilverSprings due to dementia, and the care, kindness and respect she receives every day truly mean the world to our family. She is treated with dignity, patience and genuine warmth, and the staff have always made her feel safe, valued and cared for.

Over the Christmas period, my dad stayed at Silver Springs for respite care while we were away on holiday. As always, they went above and beyond to make him feel comfortable, settled and included, and ensured he still experienced the joy and warmth of Christmas. One particular highlight for my dad was the Boxing Day lunch, which he spoke about with such happiness. It was clear how much effort had gone into making the day special, and moments like that made all the difference to his experience and wellbeing.

Knowing that both my parents were being so well looked after gave us complete peace of mind while we were away.

SilverSprings is more than a care home - it's a community built on kindness

Greeted warmly by the reception. Ushered into the lounge to wait for the resident. Passed through tastefully decorated spaces and a comfortable and homely lounge. The resident was wheeled in looking happy and comfortable. He talked for a long time. Concluded by praising the staff and saying he was very happy.
We were all given tea/coffee and cake.

Afterwards, in the entrance hall, we discussed the wonderful "wishes" given to residents and all of the seasonal celebrations, as well as birthdays.

My Mother became a resident here at Silversprings in May this year. She was diagnosed with Vascular Dementia eight years ago and it was becoming too much for us to look after her at home. It took her about a month and a half to fully settle in. Now that she is, she is happy and relaxed and has made friends. She enjoys the routines, entertainment and food and feels safe. The staff are very supportive, caring and kindly professional. I am so pleased to see her relaxed, happy and taken care off.

We moved my mum to Silversprings just over a week ago after five months in another local home, and the difference has been amazing. Previously bedbound, she is now sitting up for meals, using the bathroom, and has already enjoyed a shower.

The staff are warm, enthusiastic, and encouraging, and there's a real sense of activity and energy in the home. We are so pleased we made the move - Silversprings has already made a huge positive impact on Mum's quality of life. Keep up the good work :-)

Mum was diagnosed with mixed dementia approx 5 years ago and living at home with carers coming in four times daily. After a fall at home and being admitted into hospital with broken shoulder, myself and siblings decided it was no longer an option to remain at home. Mum moved into Silversprings December 2024. Apart from the amount of pressure and anxiety taken from family, mum now has a life, engaging all day with others, activities to keep her occupied. Mum is well looked after, nutritional needs taken care of and living her best life. The care and kindness at Silversprings is second to none.

I went to visit Silversprings with the possibility of my Mum moving there to be closer to me. From the moment I walked in and was met by customer relations advisor I knew Mum would hugely benefit from living there. Staff were exceptionally friendly & professional and the home felt it had " soul". Mum was lucky enough to move in 4 weeks later and has not looked back! She has settled in really well and has enjoyed making new friends. All aspects of her care has been excellent. The manager and all staff including maintenance team are always available and approachable for any questions/ queries. I would not hesitate to recommend Silversprings, they have truly gone above and beyond to ensure Mum feels " at home" .

Joanne Rix
Joanne RixJob Title:Home ManagerJoined: 2020

I first qualified as a nurse back in 1987 and completed further training in 1992. I then worked in both health and social care, working with adults with learning disabilities, and mental health needs, and also as a manager of two other care homes in Suffolk. I joined Silversprings in 2020 after seeing from the Care UK website how beautiful the home is.

I believe it’s important for the home manager to be approachable, caring, and open with both their team, the families, and also and most importantly the residents that live in the home.

My favourite part of my job is knowing that no one day is the same. I love spending time with the residents and also seeing how the staff engage with them, hearing their stories from their youth and their words of wisdom to the younger generation.

Outside of work spending time with my family is my big love, I have three grown-up children, and a beautiful granddaughter who stays regularly. I also enjoy walking my Labrador, Max, in the countryside around my home. A glass of rosé wine is my favourite tipple after a long day.
