All the staff at Silversprings are fantastic. Our Mum has settled in well and we are happy that she is well looked after and safe.
We feel welcome as a family when we visit and everyone is friendly.
I would recommend this lovely home to other families.

I moved Mum to Silver Springs following two weeks of respite at another local home. In these two weeks, Mum had become a shell of her former self with no outside stimulation to help manage her dementia.
After only three weeks here I can't help but feel so happy to see Mum content, eating well, and
being social and the change was like day and night.
The staff from management down are resident focused and as a guest I'm always made to feel welcome, it's like visiting Mum at home!

My ex-husband has only been at Silversprings Care Home for about 3 weeks. They have made him feel so welcome and included and he feels really safe. It was his birthday this weekend and at very short notice the staff sorted out a room to host a large gathering, they even decorated the room with balloons
and made a huge birthday cake for him. All of the staff went above and beyond to make his day so special....even a personalised card. Myself and my daughter can't thank them enough for everything they have done for us in such a short space of time. Thank you Silversprings Care Home.

My wife passed away at the end of July from Alzheimer's, after spending 17 months in Silversprings where she received the best care possible. My family & I have nothing but praise for the care & consideration shown to my wife & ourselves, the staff became our extended family, and we miss them as much
as our loved ones. My wife was made to feel very welcome in her new home & settled in well owing to the professionalism of care given.

For our family, Silversprings has been a life-saving experience. We were thrown into a devastating situation with my husband being discharged from the hospital for palliative care after an unexpected illness. Within days of arriving at Silversprings, his condition started to improve dramatically. The
standard of kindness and care he received from the very first day has undoubtedly been a major contributor to his recovery. The facilities are excellent and everywhere is spotlessly clean. The chef and kitchen staff have gone out of their way to accommodate his dietary needs and satisfy his taste buds. Management and all staff are so kind and supportive to the whole family. We will be forever in their debt. Thank you Silersprings. You are all amazing people in such a beautiful place.

When my Dad first came to Silver Springs I was hesitant due to their rating, however, within a few hours of being there I completely changed my view. The home is immaculately kept and the staff are friendly and engaging and soon became like family. Every day there is an activity, my dad was always encouraged
to join in downstairs or taken out for a trip. The consciously designed garden became 'our place' where we would sit and talk and peacefully admire the gorgeous flowers or look at the bunnies when talking became too difficult for my Dad. When my Dad was in hospital, he was refused to even get out of his bed. Silver Springs was the opposite and I truly believe this added to his quality of life. If you are reading this and have been concerned about the rating, please visit Silver Springs, have a cup of tea, sit in the garden, observe the interaction with residents and THEN make your judgement. Thank you Silver Springs.

Now retired, I worked in the acute medical profession as a consultant for many years and have had contact with many care homes and residential facilities over the years. When my Mother required help and support I was delighted to find Silversprings and incredibly grateful that they were able to take
her in as a resident. She has really blossomed under their care, physically, mentally, and emotionally. The attention that the staff pay to the residents is fantastic, the activities are numerous and imaginative, and the facilities are clean and high quality. I cannot recommend this facility enough, both as a relative and as a medic.

My father took up residence for end-of-life care. We could not fault the home or the staff. We were there every day for six weeks, and an overnight stay was also facilitated. My father was treated with respect and dignity. The staff were knowledgeable and cared just as much for our welfare. They always
made themselves available to talk us through any questions we had. We were always welcomed and kept immediately updated on my dad's condition. No request was too much. We all felt safe and cared for. We were overwhelmed by the kindness, caring and compassion demonstrated by all. The home was very clean, the food was freshly cooked and nutritious. I could not fault the cleanliness of both the home and the surrounding grounds. They truly made an extremely difficult time for the family easier to bear. Even when my dad passed and left the premises the staff lined the exit route which was most humbling. We experienced first-class treatment and my dad personally received exceptional care.

Excellent care and attention most of the time.
Staff friendly and welcoming.
Impressed by continuous efforts to make residents occupied if they wished.
Sometimes too much food, but food was very good. I have diabetes 2. For me, breakfast was very late (I am an early bird) and I was able to arrange
to have a much earlier cup of tea, on most days. Manager interacts with residents and always has time to listen to what they have to say. So does the lady responsible for entertainment.

My dad moved to Siversprings in January 2024, after a period of poor mobility and ill health. The care he received from the whole team was exemplary. Everyone was cheerful, kind and caring and he enjoyed a chat and a joke with everyone. Sadly, he succumbed to a pre-existing medical condition and died
in February. The care team were kind and supportive of my family and did everything they could to help us at this difficult time. Thank you, everyone at Silversprings for making Dad's last weeks so happy. He couldn't have received better care.

My father has been a resident since May 2023 (respite initially but smoothly transferred to permanent) due to having had multiple falls at home and requiring care after hospital admissions. He was also subsequently diagnosed with Alzheimer's Disease, so we recognised that he would need some specialist
dementia care. The manager and customer relations manager have been a wonderful support in listening to what we had been through as a family and then in settling Dad in. They have continued to ensure that he is getting the appropriate care and made adjustments so that he can participate in the many activities they offer. He has been encouraged to move around safely with a walking frame and takes part in seated exercises so has improved his strength, which all contributes to a better quality of life, more than he would have had at home. I do not live close so it is difficult to visit frequently but it gives me great peace of mind to know that he is being looked after so well.

My husband ended his life here after being discharged from hospital for palliative care. He had previously had respite care in September 2023 and had thoroughly enjoyed his “holiday” at Silversprings. The nursing care and attention for both of us was incredible. His time here was however very short
but I am sure it was the relief of feeling so relaxed and cared for that made his final hours so comfortable. It is an incredibly well-managed home led by the home manager and the customer relations manager whose management style inspires those who work for them to care for residents as they would their own family. I will always be thankful that my husband was there for his very peaceful death after a very traumatic hospital stay.
Reply from Lisa O'Sullivan, Reviews Team at SilverspringsHi, Your lovely review is so touching. It was our honor to look after your husband for his respite stay and for the end stages. He was a lovely and kind man. We will always think fondly of him. Our favorite memory will be him joining in the sports day we held at the home. Siversprings was the care home for my aunt, who spent just over 12 months in their care. The staff were very welcoming and friendly and provided a high level of care for my aunt. Whilst she was confined to bed, they made sure she was included in daily life as far as possible and took time out to provide
her with company.
The facilities are very clean and well-maintained, and the staff are caring and considerate.
They made the whole process from viewing to admission as easy as possible.
Regular updates on my aunt's health were received, and they were happy to answer any questions at any time.
I am happy to recommend their services to anybody who requires care home support.

My father was transferred to Silverspring's for end-of-life care. At the time of his arrival, he was worried, frightened, apprehensive, and in a low mood. From the very first day, he was greeted as a loved family member. He was treated with compassion, empathy and respect. The staff went out of their
way to make his final weeks as comfortable and as worry-free as possible. I will forever be grateful to the manager and her team for the care and love that was shown to my father and our entire family at that awful time.

My father-in-law was a resident for 8 months for end-of-life care. In that time he was treated with great care and respect. I was especially touched that one of the maintenance team used to take the time and trouble to drop in for a chat to help keep his spirits up. He didn't have to do that. I was
so impressed by his kindness and the culture of the entire home which encouraged that sort of thoughtfulness.

Current Review Score: 9.9 (9.884)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.9 (9.884) out of 10 for Silversprings is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 40 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 40 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.884 for Silversprings is calculated as follows: ( (424 Excellents x 5) + (43 Goods x 4) + (6 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 473 Ratings = 4.884
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Silversprings is based on 40 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 64 registered maximum number of service users is 12.8, which has been reached with 40 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

I believe it’s important for the home manager to be approachable, caring, and open with both their team, the families, and also and most importantly the residents that live in the home.

My favourite part of my job is knowing that no one day is the same. I love spending time with the residents and also seeing how the staff engage with them, hearing their stories from their youth and their words of wisdom to the younger generation.

Outside of work spending time with my family is my big love, I have three grown-up children, and a beautiful granddaughter who stays regularly. I also enjoy walking my Labrador, Max, in the countryside around my home. A glass of rosé wine is my favourite tipple after a long day.
