All staff I have met have been really pleasant, understanding and empathic.
Distribution of medication and help with mobility is very efficient. Also care in relation to food preferences and allergies.

Activities in the afternoon are enjoyable.

Placing a loved one in a care home is a difficult decision. After 6 months, Mum has settled in well. Mum enjoys her privacy and the comfort of her room, which is comfortable and pleasant. There are lots of different activities on offer, we are encouraging Mum to join in more. Mum enjoys the food and our afternoon teas have been fabulous. My biggest compliment to the home must be that they listen. Problems do arise, and I have found that I am listened to. However, more importantly, action is taken.

We visited our relative today who has recently moved into Lydgate lodge. We were pleasantly surprised at how nice the accommodation was. The room was very clean, comfortable and modern. The staff we saw were friendly and helpful and obviously cared about the residents.

It was a lovely sunny afternoon and we joined the cheese and wine event in the garden. It was wonderful to see the residents enjoying their day. Thank you.

Staff are always friendly and care for the residents as if they are family. The care home has a 'family' feel with all the residents generally being happy. My mum has never looked as happy or as well for a long time.

The staff are very friendly and fully aware of my father's care needs. The home is clean and well equipped with a homely feel to it. Any concerns are quickly dealt with and nothing is too much trouble. The staff go out of their way to ensure the residents are happy and involved. I would highly recommend Lydgate Lodge to anyone looking for a home for a loved one.

I wanted a place on record the wonderful, warm, welcome our family received upon admission of my father in March. Front of house, manager, care manager and all of the staff he met couldn't have been more professional, friendly and proactive upon my father's arrival. First impressions are important and well fantastic. I've scored the options below relevant to our first visit. Thank you.

Staff are very patient and understanding and encourage Dad who I know can be very stubborn at times. He does enjoy the activities provided, especially musical entertainment. Going back to his birthday in January they provided a lovely afternoon tea and cake in the cafe and we were very impressed by the St Valentine's Day meal on the 17 February where we were very well looked after.

Finally, I would add that the management at the home are always ready to listen and take on board any concerns, which is very reassuring.

Mum was sent here to recover after a spell in hospital following a fall. The staff were friendly, efficient and very professional. They accompanied her to hospital appointments and were great both on visit and on feeding back to family. The room was great and Mum was happy. Any issues with missing clothes swiftly dealt with even when the fault was mine for forgetting to label them. Staff couldn't do enough to help Mum and we as a family felt happy that Mum was being well looked after. Would highly recommend this place to anyone.

Lydgate Lodge has looked after my father since May 2022, and now also my mother from December 2023. We did not hesitate to place Mum there after the exceptional care that my father receives. Both parents are well looked after and enjoy the fantastic atmosphere and caring that they receive. There are daily entertainment and activities that stimulate them and keep them happy. The staff are all brilliant, and the home is run with care in mind all the time. We could not have found a better place for them, and it takes away all the worry and stress from the family.

Review from Helen M (Daughter of Resident) published on 15 January 2024 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience
Lydgate Lodge appears very welcoming and many of the staff are lovely and very hard-working. However, having chosen this home herself as the place she wished to end her days, my mother was evicted when her dementia worsened, despite them having a dementia unit. She wasn't violent (which is the reason most homes serve notice), she was just hard work. The management team promised that they wouldn't serve notice until we had exhausted every avenue, then broke that promise. My mother had to move only a few days before Christmas. They make a big deal about treating residents like family - you don't evict family when they need you most.

In summary, Lydgate Lodge is fine for those with mild dementia, but do not choose this home if you don't want to have to move your loved one if their health declines.

Overall my experience in repsite care was very good. The majority of staff were caring and helpful with a minority not really suited for the job. Meals were good with a good selection of food although afternoon tea was a bit early. Despite there being a wide variety of conditions/illnesses, effort was made to provide varied activities.

Our world was blown apart when our super active, young-at-heart mother suffered a paralysing stroke, leaving her with aphasia, unable to talk.

Mum has been at Lydgate Lodge for five years, and we could not have hoped for a safer, happier place for Mum to be. Lydgate is her home, where she is cared for consistently by excellent staff, who support us and Mum fantastically. We've created a garden for Mum and recently held a family cinema afternoon, which Mum was thrilled with. All the staff are friendly and professional and have Mum's best interests at heart.

Thank you for taking the time to write such a heartfelt response. We are very aware that moving into a care home can be very difficult for both the new resident and their families, but we will do everything we can to support both parties. Your mum is a wonderful addition to the Lydgate Lodge Family, and you are always welcome to join us as well.

Following a difficult period at home last year Mum went to live at Lydgate Lodge somewhat reluctantly. Whilst naturally she still yearns for her own home, she has now settled in very well. Mum feels comfortable and safe and is very fond of all the staff who look after her with great kindness and respect and she has now come to think of Lydgate as her second home.
Whilst the care of the residents is always the priority and the primary focus of the care home, it’s also recognised that this can sometimes be a difficult time for the family and, right from the start of our journey, I have always felt supported by the management and lovely staff, who are friendly, kind and inclusive.

The Lydgate team have created a comfortable and welcoming environment for the residents and their families and I’m very grateful that Mum is well looked after and cared for by such lovely people.

Thank you so much for leaving such a lovely review. We understand that when a loved one moves to a home there can be very mixed feelings both for the resident and their families and there are lots of questions raised. We try, wherever possible, to support not just the residents but their families...
