I try to visit my mother at least once a week. When she first became a resident nearly a year ago my sister and I did not expect that she would readily settle, having always been an independent type of person but to our pleasant surprise she has indeed very much settled in.
This has to be in part at
least to the lovely staff and their caring attitude to all the residents which I witness on each visit.
Reply from Terri Kidd, PR Executive at Lydgate LodgeThank you for review. At Lydgate Lodge, we support residents to be as independent as they want to be – after all, it’s their home and we encourage them to live the life they want to lead. I'm so happy that my grandma settled in well, it was emotionally hard accepting that she could no longer look after herself at 92 and her dementia suddenly deteriorated but she enjoys the activities and staff are friendly and helpful. The rooms are very homely and comfortable very clean and tidy. Meals
are very nice too.
Reply from Terri Kidd, PR Executive at Lydgate LodgeThank you for writing a review, it’s lovely to hear that your grandma has settled in so well. We know that any move can be difficult and we want to reassure the families of all of our residents that they will be cared for, supported and very much made to feel at home as soon as they join us.

Lydgate Lodge is a very welcoming, caring environment to visit. I am 100% confident that Mum is as safe as she could possibly be despite her very advanced dementia. It is a happy atmosphere with a huge range of activities for all abilities and interests. Individual rooms are personal, cosy, homely,
and clean. Communal areas are always stimulating and busy whilst also allowing residents some quiet time if they prefer. I feel as though I am visiting extended family as well as Mum. Cleaning and laundry staff are always to be seen doing a good job with the challenges of a dementia unit. Food is of an excellent quality, including cakes provided at the weekly coffee mornings.
Reply from Terri Kidd, PR Executive at Lydgate LodgeThank you for taking the time to leave such a lovely review. It is hugely important to us that you, as a family, are happy and confident in the care your mum is receiving. Our homes are purpose-built to be a safe haven for residents, offering stimulation and serenity when appropriate. You are absolutely part of the Lydgate Lodge family and welcome any time (especially for coffee and cake!).

My dad passed away after being cared for 12 months in the care home. The staff were lovely with both elder mum and dad. Dad was struggling with mobility and other health problems. They made mum welcome to visit all most every day. They were carrying friendly and tried to help with anything you asked
them for. They did all sorts to fill their days. Thanks so must for the care.
Reply from Terri Kidd, PR Executive at Lydgate LodgeThank you for taking the time to send in a review, we are so very sorry for your loss, it’s very much felt in the home. Your dad was a man of few words but had a lovely smile and will be sadly missed. The planters donated in his memory will be a fitting reminder of him, brightening up our garden. Please make sure your mum knows she is always welcome to join us for a cuppa and a catch up, she is also missed in the home and we would love her to continue to visit.

My Mum has been at Lydgate Lodge for just over 12 months and it was the best decision we ever made. The level of care is very high and Mum is very comfortable and happy. The staff are wonderful and show true care and affection towards the residents. There is always lots going on, my Mum loves the weekly
entertainer and is always up dancing and enjoying herself. Families are also always made to feel welcome and involved. Making the decision to move a loved one into a care home is extremely difficult but Lydgate made the whole process as easy as they could and I wholeheartedly recommend them to anyone who finds themselves in this difficult situation.
Reply from Terri Kidd, PR Executive at Lydgate LodgeThank you for writing such a lovely review, it sounds like your mum is having a whale of a time! We understand that it can be a worrying time when a loved one moves to a care home and one of our aims is to be as reassuring as possible to allow for a smooth transition into Lydgate life. It’s lovely to hear that you would recommend us.

Staff are very approachable and friendly and Mum has good relationships with specific staff. Rooms are pleasant and well-kept with excellent facilities. There appears to be a range of activities for residents to join in and are encouraged to do so. Meals are good. Light and airy rooms, lounges etc.
and very pleasant gardens to enjoy.

The introductions were good and made to feel welcome, and treated with civility by all. I would be more than happy to stay again as and when the need arises. The food was good but I didn't rate it excellent as not quite as good as home cooking although on occasions the food did rate excellent.

Using the home after surgery, I was very happy with the my experience. The building looks clean and well maintained from the outside, and the welcome inside even when just making enquiries was warm and practical. On arriving at the home for my stay, my previously left bags had been unpacked for me,
very helpful when on sticks, and the welcoming flowers added a lovely touch to a clean, warm, well set out and comfortable room, with toilet and shower.
During my stay, all of the staff were kind, helpful, efficient and solicitous. Any visitors were welcomed and provided with refreshments if required. The meals were excellent, and of a very high standard with plenty of choice, even when a specialist diet was required. Teas, coffees or snacks were available at other times, when requested.
My room was kept fresh and clean during my three weeks, by a very pleasant and efficient team, and my time here was comfortable, enjoyable and just what I needed.
Many thanks to all.

Current Review Score: 9.7 (9.686)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.7 (9.686) out of 10 for Lydgate Lodge is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.7 out of 5 from 31 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 30 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.686 for Lydgate Lodge is calculated as follows: ( (262 Excellents x 5) + (77 Goods x 4) + (12 Satisfactorys x 3) + (2 Poors x 2) + (1 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 354 Ratings = 4.686
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Lydgate Lodge is based on 30 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 64 registered maximum number of service users is 12.8, which has been reached with 30 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
