I cannot praise this place highly enough. After just a few weeks my husband is more settled and happier than her has been for a long time. The range of activities is excellent and have already made a significant improvement in his mobility. All the staff are amazing and consistently go above and beyond
for the residents.

Mum has been a resident since November 2025 we have been very impressed with the care provided at Lydgate Lodge, nothing is too much for the staff, who go above and beyond to ensure all mums needs are met. The surroundings and furnishings are very comfortable and good quality but most important of all,
mum is very happy living there. Another important thing to mention is the entertainment there is an excellent entertainment itinerary, Zoe works very hard to ensure there is a varied itinerary.

The entire staff at Lydage Lodge has been excellent. The patience and sympathetic nature of all staff cannot be higher. The dining, entertainment likewise. But above all it is the staff who deserve all the praise (the business end of elderly care) from both of us- many thanks to all. My wife Pauline
has loved every minute of her stay.
Reply from Julie Caygill, Hospital Liaison Team Administrator at Lydgate LodgeDear Roland,

Lydgate Lodge had really nice 'feel' about it from my first visit. The staff are great and always had time for a chat it I ever needed to ask anything. A big positive was the consistency of carers I got to know them on first name terms which made it so much easier on some pretty tough visits. Nothing
is ever perfect but the manahement were always open to listening to any concerns, although it was only a few months of care we couldn't wish for a better final few months for our loved family member.

On my first visit to Lydgate to look around I was very impressed by the home and friendliness of all the staff. Offered a drink and biscuits on arrival. The whole building back inside and out is immaculate. Everything shown online and in the brochure is true unlike some homes. Did not hesitate to allow
my ex along with his sister to go into Lydgate to be cared for. He is settled and very happy.

My father was in an emergency respite and needed a permanent care home. We looked at Lydgate Lodge and was greeted by the lovely staff member who talked to us showed us where my dad would be if stayed here. Wow was our reply. Just how clean and the way the staff interacted with people. My dad was on
first floor when he moved in and was not has bad has most people of first floor so said would move in to ground floor and love it.

I cannot praise the staff at Lydgate Care Home Soothill enough. They are always so friendly when we visit my daughters Gran every week & they've been totally professional when dealing with "sensitive" issues, making the right choice We love that they've made the home look so lovely this Easter, with
decorations making it look so inviting and fun. It's lovely knowing that when we go every week, the staff esp Ben, Lisel, Stacey & Jodie are so very kind, caring & understanding and always welcoming, that we definitely know that my daughters Gran is been cared for brilliantly & well looked after, just how she should be. This brings great comfort. To all the staff thank you, each one of you are angels. Happy Easter all of you. #thosethatcare #brilliantcarers

My sister recently went into the home for a trial period. She was so undecided whether it was for her. However she has really enjoyed her stay, and hopes to return in the near future. Everything about the home, staff, room, food etc cannot be praised too highly and I have felt confident in the care
and support both her and myself have received. Nothing was too much trouble, lovely relaxed atmosphere 20/10 for care.

Lydgate was recommended to us for our mum after her Alzheimer's and vascular dementia diagnosis.
We had become increasingly worried about mums safety in her own home. After several hospital stays primarily due to falls we made the difficult decision to move mum to residential care.
From our first
visit in July 2025 to mum's peaceful passing in February this year we have felt confident and reassured by the care given to mum at Lydgate.
The team are supportive, caring and expert in dementia care. They have endless patience and kindness, treating residents as individuals with unique needs ( important with dementia patients).
Mum was much loved by the team, they kept her safe and well and accommodated her needs and quirks very well.
If we had feedback or concerns they were met positively and responded to.
We are hugely grateful to Lydgate for their care of mum and would wholeheartedly recommend them to others

Since Christmas I feel that the care given by the staff has deteriorated. My mother is much more settled and happier when certain (regular) staff are working than staff we don't see as often. I haven't seen any interaction between staff and residents since Christmas. I know I'm not there all the time
but I visit my mother regularly . The regular staff my mother reacts with a smile whereas I've noticed the ones she's not used to she may shout and swear at them
Reply from Julie Caygill, Hospital Liaison Team Administrator at Lydgate LodgeThank you for taking the time to share your concerns. Mum initially went to Lydgate for 2 weeks respite in June. Due to her ongoing safety needs we decided to make her stay permanent. This was a very emotional decision for me to make, but the managers and staff supported me enormously through the process. They are always warm, friendly and genuinely care
for residents and their families. I really appreciate their open door policy and always feel welcomed by all staff members whatever their role. They are quick to respond to any questions/queries and keep me informed regarding all aspects of mums needs.
Mum has settled so well and is much calmer, less lonely, at ease, happier and above all, safe in their care.
I am absolutely sure that I made the right decision for mum, and me. I feel confident she is in safe hands and trust Lydgate 100% with my dear, precious mum. Thank you to you all from the bottom of my heart. You've allowed me to be a daughter again instead of her carer. X

Third week of respite - the staff are marvelous always cheerful the room is kept clean and tidy all times. Towels changed regularly - I would say it has been an experience and one I was not looking forward to. However after my operation I had no alternative. It has pleasantly surprised, staff great,
management. No complaints what so ever.
The food is good home cooking and a nice variety over the weeks.

Current Review Score: 9.8 (9.761)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.8 (9.761) out of 10 for Lydgate Lodge is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 39 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 38 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.761 for Lydgate Lodge is calculated as follows: ( (362 Excellents x 5) + (74 Goods x 4) + (12 Satisfactorys x 3) + (2 Poors x 2) + (1 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 451 Ratings = 4.761
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Lydgate Lodge is based on 38 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 64 registered maximum number of service users is 12.8, which has been reached with 38 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
