My father has lived in Alexandra Grange for 6 months now. Last year he lived independently but was hospitalised twice and in a weak and poorly state. It was decided that he needed additional care. Since being at Alexandra Grange, his health has improved greatly. The care team are fantastic.

Amazing - people place and philosophy of care. The leadership is focused on the individual resident. This is key in care being individualised to my mother's needs which are constantly changing (with dementia).
All the staff are patience, well trained, naturally caring and so respectful; to my mum, her family and others.

The high level of care is consistent throughout the home on all shifts due to the continuous training and staff expectations. The high ratio of so many staff on duty to provide care means they are shift focus more from tasks to the individual. Thank you so much.

My mother has been a resident at Alexandra Grange Care Home for over 5 1/2 years. She is always well cared for and treated with dignity, patience and affection even though she can now only respond in a very limited way. I would not want her to be anywhere else. All team members want to do a good job. They are welcoming to relatives and appreciate feedback in order to maintain and improve on their high standards.

My mother moved in during February 2016. Initially, she was a bit disruptive but the staff coped well. Following a change to her medication, she seems to have settled in well. Whenever we visit the staff are friendly and helpful, and my mother appears to be well looked after. She has a very nice room which is always clean and tidy when we visit.

My grandad over the last two months has put on weight and has improved dramatically in himself. The Dementia care leader has been a great help and has always been available when we need anything and is a real credit - many other staff have also been great including the care assistants.

I found at Alexandra Grange all staff were very welcoming, I felt the carers were really good, very hands on care, nothing too much. While my parents were there for a 4 week respite I knew they were being well looked after, care, food environment great and plenty of activities to keep them occupied. If my parents ever need to live at a home I wouldn't look any further than Alexandra Grange in Wokingham.

We had been let down by another local home at very short notice. Alexandra Grange came to our rescue, provided a lovely welcoming home. Took time to understand our needs as a family and most importantly our parents needs. Staff are all very knowledgeable, understand both the conditions and needs. Our parents were provided a lovely environment for a month respite care.

The staff are excellent, they all seem to want to be there and enjoy helping people, nothing is too much trouble. Everything is kept clean and tidy.

I would recommend this care home to everyone I know, I do feel it is on the expensive side, but you get what you pay for.

My father was admitted to Alexandra Grange at short notice on 27th December as his Parkinson's dementia was making it impossible for him to be cared for at home. The staff at the home responded very well given the short notice that they had before admitting him and they have done all that they can to make him comfortable and settled. They encourage him to socialise with the other residents and to join in activities. Whenever I have visited he has been mostly happy and is obviously well cared for.

When mum first moved to Alexandra Grange she was made to feel very welcome and at home, she settled in very quickly. All the staff are friendly and approachable and keep us well informed of mums wellbeing and day to day activities. There is plenty of activities for mum to get involved in including outings to various locations. We have joined mum for lunch and the food was of a high standard. We are always popping in to see mum and are made to feel as part of the family and enjoy lovely treats on offer in the garden café. A big thank you to all the staff at Alexandra Grange.

I have been very pleased with the care received by my mother in the year since she moved into the home. There is a very genuine sense of caring and pro-activity in looking after my mothers welfare. The activities and entertainment have also been excellent. My mother is now in a caring and happy environment rather than being on her own and at risk in her own home.

My mother came into Alexandra Grange for respite in May 2015 while she was waiting for her permanent place. She was unsettled for a number of weeks and the staff were brilliant in finding various ways to get her to accept the the care environment. She had never liked joining groups but she did join in a variety of activities with patient encouragement.

I felt the overall standard of care was excellent, with staff going out of their way for my mother. The room was lovely and the garden cafe particularly good for residents who like to retain their independence. The food was really good and was always served very nicely.

I would have appreciated having more ready access to the care plan which I did not see during my mother's stay. Also sometimes communication between shifts could have been improved as the system for ensuring staff knew what was happening did not always work as well as it could have done.

We were very sorry to leave Alexandra Grange and have been delighted with how well my mother has immediately settled in her new home, which may in part be due to her good experience in the first home.

Reply from Magda Radoicovici, General Manager at Hallmark Alexandra Grange

Thank you for your lovely comments. I am glad your mother enjoyed her time with us. I apologise if you didn't have adequate access to your mothers care plan. She was fully involved in the process and both relatives and residents are able to see these care plans if they wish. We also hold 6 monthly reviews to ensure that our residents care needs are adequetly met.

It is early days with my grandfather being taken into Alexandra Grange but so far he has been treated very well. Meals are very good, eaten either in the dining room, their own rooms or in the care of my grandfather, when a friend or relative has joined him, they can be accommodated in the lounge or family room for privacy. The staff have been great, very attentive, friendly and efficient. The home is quite new and the environment that has been created is lovely - beautiful garden and grounds. The communal areas are inviting, fresh and socially open, as are the rooms.

I have found the staff, from top to bottom, to be extremely helpful and caring. Particularly after my mother was discharged from hospital. They could not do enough to help her recovery. There are many varied activities available during the days if residents wish to attend them. I know that my mother is extremely happy living in Alexandra Grange, and has also taken some of the day to day responsibility for her health and care from my shoulders. For which I am very appreciative of.
