Following a long hospital admission, we were extremely grateful to the manor house in Wickham for how quickly they found the respite care Mum needed. The whole experience has been excellent. The staff were welcoming kind and professional from the start. Mum experience has been excellent. The staff were welcoming kind and professional from the start making Mum feel comfortable and well cared for. Communication was clear throughout and it was reassuring to know she was incapable hands. The team went above and beyond to provide compassionate, high-quality care. We were very grateful for their support and would highly recommend the manor house in Wickham to anybody looking for respite for a loved one.

The Manor House is not only impressive on the outside it is even more impressive on the inside. Within 2 weeks of arrival my 92 year old severely sight impaired mother is happy, smiling, loving her beautiful new room and is taking part in activities. Management, care staff are so helpful and caring. Nothing is a problem. There are daily activities always encouraged. Theme days lots to do if you want to participate, hairdresser, nails, fitness. Mam is thriving. So happy we chose the manor house.

Mum has been resident at the Manor House for nearly 5 years, having originally been there with dad, til he passed within a year.
We have never once doubted this home was the best choice and mum has been well cared for throughout.
One great testimony to the Manor House is the continuity of Staff. Many have been there since mums first day and others have been there several years. all know mum well and us too.
The food always looks great, the home is really well maintained and the gardens beautiful.

We cannot speak highly enough of Jane and the whole team.

My Mum has been a resident at Manor House since September 2025, living in the Derwent area of the home. Making the decision to move a parent to a care home is very, very difficult but following Mum's increasing confusion, it had become necessary. Manor house has been brillant from the start- yes it took Mum a while to settle but the staff were so patient with her (and reassuring with me!) and after about a month, Mum was settled and content, in sharp contrast to the confusion and stress she felt before ariving as she was aware on some level, of her failing abilities. She thinks of it as a hotel and in some ways, it is! The set up is very attractive, it is immaculately clean (doesn't "smell like a care home") and the staff are terrific. I also like the range and frequency of the activities (mostly 2 a day) - pub quizzes, thai chi and the very welcome visits from the WAG dogs! She is also well catered for as she is vegetarian. In summary - as good as it gets!

Overall Experience
My mother was a resident in the chesters unit, in The Manor House prior to her death in April 2026.
Care staff were very professional and caring towards my mother throughout her stay there and were very affectionate towards her. They always treated her with dignity and respect. They were always caring towards my wife and I when we visited and to other family members, and, were happy to answer any queries and questions that we had. Care staff were always liaising with her GP practice to ensure her physical health needs were being met. There were dedicated activity co-ordinators on the unit to engage residents including my mother to participate in activities and regular relatives meetings to discuss the views of family and carers.

As my mother's health was deteriorating and she was dying, care staff showed my family and I a lot of compassion and empathy during our visits which was really appreciated.

Overall Experience
My Mum has been a resident at The Manor house for over 2 years, now. She has settled in well, in part due to the welcoming atmosphere, but in most part to the staff who are on the whole friendly, caring and considerate.
They are attentive to Mum's needs and are communicative with her family ensuring we are happy in the knowledge that she is being well looked after.
The home and Mum's room are kept meticulously clean. The domestic staff are visible and also interact with all the residents.
The amenities are well organised with either a Doctor or Health visitor who attends the home every Monday. There are hairdressing facilities on site and activities organised by a dedicated team to keep the residence mentally and physically active.
Three hot meals a day with a choice. Equally if a resident decides they would like an alternative the catering staff will accommodate, where at all possible.

Any issues or comments are welcomed by the team leaders.

Overall Experience

We have used this care home since June 2025. The home is very well managed with a high standard of care. We have responsibility for an elderly resident and act as powers of attorney. We visited the home in summer 2025 to 'assess' its suitability. We had already visited several homes in the North-East. We were not disappointed, nor have we been since. The staff are friendly and caring. Food and nutrition standards are high on their list of priorities and medical issues are dealt with promptly and efficiently. The weekly organised events are varied and suitable for any and all residents All in all we are thrilled.

I had 2 falls in May 2025 after which I was unable to care for myself. I am 94. My nephew found this excellent home for me. I was in a very poor state mentally and physically. They have given me wonderful care. They have managed to increase my weight gradually to 6st 11ozs. The staff are marvelous.

The home is well managed. My Mam has been there about a year and has settled and made some friends. The staff are all very friendly and approachable if I have any concerns they are acted on quickly. The home is well maintained both inside and gardens. The entertainment staff try there hardest to please everyone with activities. They even organise a church service once a month which I thought was very thoughtful. You can also approach the management with any concerns.

Just had to leave ...so disappointed and shocked at the appalling level of care by a particular care worker .. I won't go in to details but the information me Patrons can only have one cup of tea after dinner, when being advised this is supposed to be bespoke person centered care they laughed and found my comments funny...They argued telling me what has been happening daily since my mum went in who I know was incorrect as I visit most nights over Dinner.Having worked for best part of 40 years in care I've never met such a rude uncaring care worker .

We had concerns about how Dad would adapt to life in a care home, when he was discharged from hospital just before Christmas, but we need not have worried. There were several areas of trepidation for him, from comfort to care and also about how it would smell, but its 5 stars in all of these areas.
The whole of the staff from medical and caring, to admin and management, have all been excellent and made not just him, but also us as relatives feel like part of life at 'The Manor'.
He really appreciates the care and interaction he receives, and we do understand he can be challenging occasionally, but the Team that looks after him does it with compassion and also a smile, which he really likes.
The standard of rooms and general decor is excellent and this also applies to the gardens and outside areas.

Someone moving into care is a big step for all involved, but I wouldn't hesitate to recommend The Manor House as a destination of choice.

My mother in law moved to Manor House in June 2023 and passed away May 2025. Throughout, her care has been excellent, the home is very well maintained, lovely staff throughout. The genuine attention of the carers towards my mother in law cannot be expressed in words. Admin, maintenance, and cleaning staff are all brilliant. During palliative care and the last 2 weeks before she died, the dignity, love and respect and care for us all was just so good we will be forever grateful.

My mum has been a resident since 09/23 following a stay in hospital. The overall care she has received is exemplary. Every member of staff is helpful, polite and respectful towards the residents. Plus the management team are always available should you need to discuss anything. It's also wonderful to have dedicated activity staff who go above and beyond arranging twice-daily activities. My aunt who is 99 has been in The Manor House for a number of years. When she first moved in, she settled very quickly, and continues to enjoy the food and the facilities on offer. The staff are exceptional! They are very caring, patient and always welcoming. The communication is excellent and the staff go over and above in ensuring my aunt's needs are met. I do not live locally, and am very grateful that I know my aunt is comfortable and being well cared for. A big thank you to the team at The Manor House.
