Thank you, Avondale. Veronica is very well cared for. My mum and I have enjoyed a very special and memorable afternoon today, listening to the superb and talented orchestra. We danced along to an Abba song and sang along with the Beatles and Frank Sinatra! Veronica smiled and laughed. What a joy. Thank you, everyone and to the team - you rock!
Thank you for your kind words. It is fantastic to hear about all the fun you are having with your lovely mum at Avondale.
I know the care sector very well. As I also have disabled children, where the care has been abysmal in care placements.
I have to say the staff have been very supportive of my mother's needs, always very welcoming.
I look at all the little interactions, which sometimes people miss. But, I have to say this is a very compassionate place, who also obviously treat their staff well and have good management. A place is only as good as the staff regardless of decor, it's the staff that count. At present my mother has medium dementia, I really do hope this will be a placement which will be her home until the end.It is very clean also, which shows the standard of care, smells nice and clean, lovely food options available, over and above and access to great activities, creating an inclusive atmosphere.
Thank you for your well-rounded review of our home. It is great to hear you are happy with our facilities, food and team.
Sadly I don't remember everyone's names as I feel they all deserve recognition. but I would like to especially spotlight..

Thank you to all the staff at Avondale and I'm so pleased to hear of this new staff incentive that has been introduced!

Thank you for your wonderful review. We are truly honoured to have cared for your Mum. It means a lot to our team to know that you appreciated their compassion and dedication, especially during difficult moments. We're grateful for the memories you shared with us and appreciate your trust in our care. Please know we are here for you and your family during this time.
We could not have wished for such a pleasant, comfortable and welcoming care home. The treatment and care given to my sister were wonderful and dignified. The staff were excellent, both to my sister and family, always welcoming and smiling. Her room was lovely, well-kept and food was of excellent quality. Nothing was too much trouble. We would recommend Porthaven to anyone. Thank you for your care, especially in her final days, to her and us.
Thank you for taking the time to leave such a lovely review of Avondale. We are so pleased to hear that you felt your sister was well looked after with us. It was an honour to care for her, please know you are always welcome at our home.
A very nice care home with extremely caring and compassionate staff. The food is great and my brother is always treated with the utmost respect and dignity. H e enjoys his stay, feels safe and is well cared for. I am very grateful for the support they provide. We have complete confidence in care provided and would highly recommend Avondale Care Home to others.

The atmosphere throughout the home is very calm, relaxing and bright. The staff are very helpful and always smiling. My brother is very comfortable in their company and seems to get on with everyone he is in contact with. Thank you all.
Thank you for taking the time to leave a kind review of Avondale. We really appreciate your kind words and we are pleased to hear that your brother is comfortable in our home.
I wish to convey my appreciation and thanks to all the staff and management in Avondale Care Home. The support, love and care I have seen for my brother is really wonderful, and he appears to be very happy here. He eats all the food and enjoys the music in the bistro. Everyone is very friendly and welcoming. We are very happy with our brother living here.
Thank you for your five-star review! It fills me with pride to hear your kind words, which I will be sure to share with the team.
Personally I am blown away by the whole experience, while visiting my brother. I can't express how overwhelmed I feel by the care and genuine welcome by every member of the wonderful team. You are all the most caring and loving staff I have ever met in a care home. Sincere thanks to you all.
Thank you for such marvellous feedback. It is fantastic to hear you received a warm welcome while spending time in our home.
Very pleasant staff, very homely care home. My brother is very happy and in good form. We enjoyed our visit yesterday and today. Thank you.
Thank you for your feedback. It is great to hear your brother is happy with us here at Avondale. We look forward to seeing you next time you visit.
My Mum had previously stayed in Avondale for short periods of respite while we went on holiday, and she - and we - were always very happy with her care. Mum particularly appreciated the activities, the meals and the beautiful decor of the rooms and communal areas.
When her health declined rapidly during the summer and she needed residential care, we were so glad that there was availability at Avondale for Mum. The management did all they could to find familiar accommodation for her at short notice and even extended their regular admission hours to be able to receive her from hospital. The same staff whose company she had enjoyed in past visits nursed her compassionately and attentively during her final weeks, always willing to go the extra mile. They cared for us and comforted us too, when it was clear Mum's life was coming to a close.
We cannot thank the staff enough for all they did. Nurses, reception, management, caterers and especially Yellow - you know who you are. Thank you.
Thank you so much for taking the time to leave such a kind review. It was our pleasure to care for your mum - please know that you are always welcome here at Avondale Care Home. I look forward to sharing your feedback with our team.
My wife was a resident at Avondale for 18+ months up to July 2025. Putting someone so close into care brings many extreme emotions and concerns. Avondale could not have handled our situation better. With respect, dignity and warmth. During this time, not only did they make my wife feel at home, but they became a home from home for my family and I too. The people there are a credit to themselves. Management, staff and carers have become our friends. When my wife passed away, I felt a gratitude that her last days were spent in these surroundings. I will be eternally grateful.
Thank you for taking the time to leave such a kind and thoughtful review of Avondale. It was an honour to care for your wife and support you both. Our thoughts are with you at this time. You are always welcome at Avondale.
Like a 5 star hotel. Rooms good, staff good, food good, excellent all round.
Thank you so much for leaving such a wonderful review of Avondale, and we appreciate your kind words.
Otherwise the best care home available.
I am sorry to hear that your loved one has had some items misplaced. I will look into this immediately. I am relieved to hear you are happy with our home otherwise, but, should you wish to discuss this further, please do not hesitate to speak to me on your next visit.
Treatment of my Dad appears very good, from his arrival to date. The understanding of his illness is professional.
Thank you for your feedback. It is reassuring to hear you are pleased with the care your dad receives.
The staff all work very hard and never stop as when one of the staff team go off so the next staff go to work and nothing is ever too much for the staff.
Thank you for your feedback. It is great to hear you are happy with our team. It is a pleasure to have you with us!
My mother was in this home for six years and was really happy here. She never complained about anything. The low level of staff turnover meant that the staff all got to know her likes and dislikes and also got to know us. This was so unlike our experience of another care home. When she died, they were so caring in a difficult situation.
Thank you for taking a moment to leave us a review during this difficult time. It was an honour and a joy to have your mother with us, and our team miss her dearly. Please know you are always welcome at Avondale.
I would like to express my thanks and praise for the staff at Avondale. From the time I met the lady who showed me around, I and my friend were very impressed with the whole set up. On admission I was greeted by the receptionist, we were shown to my room & within a short tie you could tell that all members of the team whatever status worked closely together as a united team, so unusual in this day & age. The professional friendly care is outstanding, they introduce themselves at the beginning of each shift & whether medical nursing, care, activities or psychological support is needed they are there giving confidence & expertise. I would recommend Avondale to anyone for rehab, respite or long term care.
Thank you for your fantastic feedback. It is always great to hear from our residents themselves, especially when they have such brilliant things to say!
I would just like to thank all the staff and the manager for their genuine heartfelt love and care that they give to my grandma and that they make us feel like family. A special thanks goes to one lady who is so kind and happy and attentive to my grandma and all residents and I would like to give a special thank you.
Thank you for your kind words. It is our pleasure to care for your grandma. She is a well-loved member of our home!
From the moment we were shown round, my daughter and I knew there was no doubt this was the place where my husband should spend his last days. From the management right through to the carers, the care & support were outstanding. Unfortunately he was not able to fully appreciate the activities as he was mostly bed bound. It was a great comfort to us he was in safe hands for his last 3 months.
Thank you for taking a moment to leave us a review during this difficult time. It was an honour to care for your husband, and we are incredibly sorry for your loss. Please know that you and your daughter are always welcome at Avondale.
