Cannot praise this care home enough. My mother was there for over 4 years until her death in December aged 107. I cannot fault their support, care and help over that period of time and they were a great comfort to me and my wife. Nothing was too much trouble for them. Mother was very happy there, wanting for nothing. This home is on a par with a 5-star hotel.

Following the death of my mother, I would like to extend my sincere thanks for the superb care all the staff gave her during her time with Avondale.
The quality of care was consistently fantastic and I felt she was in excellent hands as her life came to a close.
The senior nursing team and much more were enormously caring and supportive to both mum and me.

The nursing team manager, in particular, managed to achieve a wonderful balance between empathy, practicality and care that I’m sure is rare.

Please extend my personal thanks to everyone and in particular, to those I’ve mentioned above.

The building is bright, airy, clean, attractive and extremely well designed for its purpose. From entering the glass doors, the atmosphere is warm and friendly and the manner of the staff both welcoming and friendly. Very reassuring.

My sister was terminally ill when she moved to Avondale. The staff did everything they could to help her be as safe and comfortable as possible. They were also supportive of family members through this extremely difficult and distressing time.

The Bistro area was a particularly valuable and appreciated feature (with tea, coffee etc on offer, as well as freshly made biscuits and cakes plus fresh fruit), giving us all a welcome taste of normality.

My sister's room was clean and comfortable. We were encouraged to "customise" it to make it as homely as possible for my sister.

The dining arrangements were also flexible and to a high standard.

I hope that if I should need care in the future, I will be able to stay in a home like Avondale.

My wife entered Avondale Care Home at the end of July 2017. She was terminally ill. Avondale were excellent in everything they did for her during the 3 months she was a resident. She passed away at the end of October.

Prior to visiting Avondale, when looking for a home where my wife would spend her last days, I had very negative views of care homes in general - they were all old, smelly, understaffed with poor care. How wrong I was! I thoroughly and unreservedly recommend Avondale to all I speak to.

I came here following an operation, not at all well. I cannot speak too highly of the medical care and I have had the pleasure of staying here. The food has been very good, plentiful and the atmosphere so friendly and calm. I am going home tomorrow and wanted to say thank you.

My father recently died in Avondale Care Home. During his last weeks and months, he was cared for by kind, friendly and professional staff who showed him the greatest of respect and compassion. Although unable to do anything at all for himself he was extremely well looked after by a team of staff who genuinely took the time to get to know him and anticipate his needs. Seeing how upset many of the staff were when he died was further evidence that the home treats their residents as family rather than customers.

Very friendly and genuinely caring staff, including managers, nurses, carers, admin and housekeeping staff. Beautiful clean decor and surroundings for residents and visitors.

My mother was at Avondale for four months. The carers and nurses on her unit went out of their way to make her feel settled and spent time with her, getting to know her and her ways, and most importantly, talking to her. She really enjoyed their company and the conversations she had with them.
The staff welcomed and cared about the whole family and knowing mum was so well looked after made a huge difference to us. The nurses and carers listened to what she wanted and respected her decisions so we always knew she was being treated with dignity and respect.
When mum’s condition deteriorated suddenly and she reached the end of her life, the staff team were wonderful, not only with mum but also with me and with the rest of the family as they came to say their goodbyes. I was humbled by the fact that so many carers and nurses came to say a last goodbye to mum before they went off duty, with one even coming in especially although she was on holiday.

Words cannot really express our gratitude.

I cannot speak highly enough about this home. My dear mum could not have been better cared for in her last years. All our family were always visiting her and got to know many staff and residents during her stay. We felt part of an extended family and gained some great friends.

When you entrust a loved one to a home, you are handing over the most precious thing, and in this care, Avondale treats each person as if they are in their own family. I will always be grateful for all the care and love she received.
