At the innovative new Baylham Care Centre, carers aim to offer unparalleled levels of service ranging from respite to long term nursing, from rehabilitation and physiotherapy to Dementia and holistic End of Life care.

Many of the facilities are new to this country. For example, there are wireless communications in each room that allows members of staff to talk to or summon anyone within the building, thereby saving valuable time. Also, they have the capability when the situation requires it to have residents remotely monitored by their doctor, who can determine what, if any, action should be taken. Time spent by staff with the residents is very important; therefore, they have installed many labour-saving systems to ensure this happens as often as possible.

Every effort has been made to cater for the needs of residents. This includes a wide range of accommodation, on and off site facilities, freshly prepared food to meet dietary requirements, relaxing surroundings with sensory gardens, themed reminiscence lounges and stunning panoramic views across the Gipping Valley.

Within the 55 rooms, there are 4 double rooms.
Currently, residents range from 32 to 100 years old. They are able to accept Adults over 18 years.

They have a range of activities at Baylham Care Centre, from trips out, Bingo, Cinema Club, sing-a-longs, quizzes, coffee mornings, Chair Aerobics, Arts & Crafts, Flower Arranging and Baking to name but a few.

They have additional services available at Baylham;
•        Day Care
•        Palliative Care
•        In-house Physiotherapy Department
•        Respite Care
•        Separate Specialist Dementia Care.

One thing that I find upsetting is the difficulties I have getting in contact with someone at the home for updates about my wife. I am not contacted when she is unwell at times, I find out when I visit the home. They did inform me when she went into hospital. I am concerned that her fingernails are
not always cared for. The chiropodist does her toenails. Also I pay for her hair but this is not being done as regularly as needed.

Dad had been in the care home for six months. The staff were excellent and he was given the best care he could have asked for. It is like extended family. Lots of activities to take part in if he chose to and a couple of trips to Needham Lake. When Dad passed away, he was treated with dignity and the
staff were very respectful.

My husband received excellent care during the two years that he was a resident at Baylham Care Centre. The staff are very caring, supportive and skilled in looking after residents who may have challenging behaviour. The Physiotherapy and Activities teams are first-class and ensure that an individual's
needs are catered for. The trips out in the mini-bus are especially welcome. The manageress is very approachable and is working hard to maintain high standards. There is a friendly atmosphere in the Home and relatives receive a warm welcome when visiting and any concerns they may have are dealt with promptly and efficiently. Baylham Care Centre is a very special place.

The caring and patient staff at Baylham Care Centre make it a friendly, peaceful place to be. My husband moved into care in February with dementia and a stroke causing challenging behaviour.
His care at Baylham has been exceptional and he has settled in well. He loves the food which is freshly cooked
in the home's kitchen to a very high standard.
The new care home manager has brought inspirational ideas which will only improve the home. She puts the residents first and her love for them as individuals is very apparent.
The activities girls are brilliant.
Regular trips out in the minibus to the countryside and farms are enjoyed by the residents. While back at the home, they encourage the residents to participate in celebrating occasions like the Olympic games and festival days.
I am made to feel very welcome by the staff when I visit and feel reassured my dear husband is in good hands.

Professional, efficient, caring, friendly and effective - what more could we ask?
The physiotherapy team worked miracles - their humour, knowledge, expertise and positive approach ensured mobility way beyond our expectations and we can't thank them enough. The new manager was attentive and responsive,
working hard behind the scenes to ensure everything ran smoothly. The care and admin staff were friendly, encouraging and patient. Thank you.

Always very welcoming. Care staff are incredibly patient and very attentive. One-to-one care is provided well and the set-up looks as though one-to-one care is provided even if the resident is less demanding.
Sticky floor might be my only criticism but that is only on one occurrence.
Safe and functional
and adequate. No non-essential frills and great value for our private money.

I am currently waiting for spinal surgery, and after much research, I chose Baylham Care Centre for my post-operative recovery and respite care.

I called to make an appointment and was offered a same-day visit which was really useful. From the minute I set foot in the centre I was made to feel very

welcome. The atmosphere is one of a well-ordered, happy, caring empathetic and efficient workplace. The staff were all polite, attentive and helpful and most importantly, the residents all appeared to be settled and very happy. I also felt very safe, but not in ways of being confined or contained.

The facilities and resources are really impressive and the residents have lots of choices about their lives and needs.

It was clear to me that Baylham Care Centre has an ethos of care, compassion and meeting the needs of vulnerable people with dignity.

I can honestly say that I am looking forward to my stay there as I trust them to take care of me after a serious operation.

I am writing this review with regard to the care of my husband at Baylham Care Centre. He is suffering from Parkinsons' Dementia and was extremely ill with the conditions, presenting with challenging behaviour. Admitted to Baylham on 31st October 2022 in need of 1:1 care. I have been impressed with
the quality of care given. Gradually, he has responded well. The carers show compassion and skill in difficult circumstances. Emotional support is outstanding. His 80th birthday was celebrated in August 2023 with superb support from the centre.

My father has been in Baylham Care Centre for about 2 months now since he ended up in hospital with a bad injury from his last care home. He loves it here and I could not ask for anything more than the way he is treated. The staff go above and beyond to make my father comfortable. His room is always
clean and should dad drop food down him they change him into clean clothes. The management is excellent and I'm kept up to date with all dads needs and any problems. They ask me before going ahead with any changes too. All I can say is I'm more than grateful to all the staff here.

Our mother lived at Baylham for seven and a half years. She loved it and frequently said, “I am so lucky to live here.” She loved the staff.
Sadly mother passed away on 11 August. Baylham kept us informed so that we were able to return from our holiday in Croatia to spend the last three days with
our mother. It was a very special time and has helped us come to terms with the sad loss of a wonderful mother.
The staff were amazing, professional, skilful, kind, compassionate and utterly committed to Mother throughout her time at Baylham right up to the time of her death.
Thank you to the manager and all your wonderful staff.

Current Review Score: 9.2 (9.217)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.2 (9.217) out of 10 for Baylham Care Centre is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.7 out of 5 from 10 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.5 out of 5 from 8 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.690 for Baylham Care Centre is calculated as follows: ( (89 Excellents x 5) + (19 Goods x 4) + (7 Satisfactorys x 3) + (1 Poors x 2) ) ÷ 116 Ratings = 4.69
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.527 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Baylham Care Centre is based on 8 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.8
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 55 registered maximum number of service users is 11. 8 Positive Reviews ÷ 11 = 0.727
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
