At the innovative new Baylham Care Centre, carers aim to offer unparalleled levels of service ranging from respite to long term nursing, from rehabilitation and physiotherapy to Dementia and holistic End of Life care.

Many of the facilities are new to this country. For example, there are wireless communications in each room that allows members of staff to talk to or summon anyone within the building, thereby saving valuable time. Also, they have the capability when the situation requires it to have residents remotely monitored by their doctor, who can determine what, if any, action should be taken. Time spent by staff with the residents is very important; therefore, they have installed many labour-saving systems to ensure this happens as often as possible.

Every effort has been made to cater for the needs of residents. This includes a wide range of accommodation, on and off site facilities, freshly prepared food to meet dietary requirements, relaxing surroundings with sensory gardens, themed reminiscence lounges and stunning panoramic views across the Gipping Valley.

Within the 55 rooms, there are 4 double rooms.
Currently, residents range from 32 to 100 years old. They are able to accept Adults over 18 years.

They have a range of activities at Baylham Care Centre, from trips out, Bingo, Cinema Club, sing-a-longs, quizzes, coffee mornings, Chair Aerobics, Arts & Crafts, Flower Arranging and Baking to name but a few.

They have additional services available at Baylham;
•        Day Care
•        Palliative Care
•        In-house Physiotherapy Department
•        Respite Care
•        Separate Specialist Dementia Care.

The team at Baylham have cared for my mother for over 7 years. During that time her care needs changed and the staff were able to adjust the support accordingly and in full consultation with the family. I believe mum felt safe and genuinely cared for during her time at Baylham for which we are grateful.
High
dependency care is difficult and demanding but the staff approach it with humour and warmth. They are a great team and I commend them to any other families looking for a safe home for their loved ones.

Mum was cared for by Baylham Care Centre for over 7 years. Mum had dementia and during her years at Baylham as her health deteriorated, the care she received was nothing but excellent.
Before we choose Baylham, we visited many other care homes, one of the first things I noticed was the excellent cleanliness,
it exceeded any others we had seen. Over the years, that excellent standard has been maintained. Cleaning is obviously important but what really struck me was the individual staff members and their genuine interest in giving the best dementia care and pioneering new ideas to help the residents.
The staff's commitment to maintaining residents' dignity shines out across all aspects of the care provided. Over the years, as her care needs changed, I have always been consulted with and been part of the care plans in place for mum, at all times recording and acting on what was important to her as an individual was very well considered.

Baylham Care Centre is a warm caring home that treats its residents with respect and dignity. All strands of the team build good positive relationship with those they are caring for. As a relative, I had complete peace of mind that my mother was safe and well cared for.

I simply don't have the words to put across the essence of Baylham and it's staff. The whole must start with the manager who maintains the simply unbelievable standards in every aspect of the place. Mum (who suffered from Alzheimer's) was, very unexpectedly, only there for a few days before she died
but, despite the fact that she had been happy where she was previously, in those few days was happier than I have seen her in a very long time. Each and every member of staff we encountered from those we met on our very first visit when we looked around to the four lovely staff who sat with her at the end were simply amazing. Such care, gentleness, dedication, humour, understanding, patience and dedication. I have absolutely no hesitation in saying to anyone 'Just choose Baylham, you won't regret it!'

Dear Lindsey, On behalf of the Baylham Team, may I express our heartfelt thanks for the wonderful review.
I am so sorry your mum's stay with us was short but it was most definitely very sweet.
Some treasured moments.

My Gran was at Baylham for three days before we sadly lost her. Her days here were some of the happiest she had had in recent years. The staff were outstanding in every way and we could not have wished for her to be in a better and happier in her unexpected final days.

I never had any dealings with management so cannot express an opinion.
As far as I am concerned, my brother could not have gone to a better care home. Could not fault the service provided in any way.
Would not hesitate to recommend the Baylham Care Centre to all and sundry.

My husband was the first to reside at Baylham and because of the staff friendliness and good management, I decided that it would be a good choice for my mother in law who is now 101 years old. I am POA (power of attorney) for both of them. When a family friend who I have known all of my life needed
care. I recommended Baylham to my cousin (he is her POA0 I visit 6 days a week and feel like a staff member.

Baylham Care Centre provided such a high standard of care, support and medical expertise for my father that the last six months of his life were spent in peace and contentment. His mood was so balanced and despite his dementia and end-stage cancer, the environment that is provided at Baylham Care Centre
meant he spent his last days surrounded by love and we are truly grateful.

During March, my wife was in the final stages of Alzheimer's. She had been in Baylham for almost two years and, as expected, went continually downhill. My wife in the last month or two, could not easily swallow liquids or food, yet with the persistence and help of the carers, she was able to receive
sustainable amounts. Towards the end, she would only take food or drink from one carer. That carer put in extra time on her own to take care of her.

Previous to March, she would refuse the services of the hairdresser that came to Baylham. Another carer who my wife knew, took it upon herself to cut and shape her hair. There were many other staff members who went out of their way to help my wife.

The staff at BCC (Baylham Care Centre) are excellent, and part of that excellence comes from the motivation provided by the manager, who is great at team building. While I am saddened that the Alzheimer's has now claimed another victim, I'm happy that my wife had the best care she could possibly have received.

I have visited my grandmother on numerous occasions. The car park has always had ample room for parking, the reception is easy to find. Greeted by a very pleasant receptionist who will let you in once you've introduced yourself (the doors are locked for obvious reasons).

The staff are very friendly

and helpful, the rooms are clean, the food is good and the grounds and vista are very pleasant. It was a big move for my grandmother but she has thoroughly enjoyed her stay at the care home and made many new friends. That's all you can ask for really.

Current Review Score: 9.2 (9.217)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.2 (9.217) out of 10 for Baylham Care Centre is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.7 out of 5 from 10 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.5 out of 5 from 8 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.690 for Baylham Care Centre is calculated as follows: ( (89 Excellents x 5) + (19 Goods x 4) + (7 Satisfactorys x 3) + (1 Poors x 2) ) ÷ 116 Ratings = 4.69
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.527 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Baylham Care Centre is based on 8 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.8
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 55 registered maximum number of service users is 11. 8 Positive Reviews ÷ 11 = 0.727
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
