At the innovative new Baylham Care Centre, carers aim to offer unparalleled levels of service ranging from respite to long term nursing, from rehabilitation and physiotherapy to Dementia and holistic End of Life care.

Many of the facilities are new to this country. For example, there are wireless communications in each room that allows members of staff to talk to or summon anyone within the building, thereby saving valuable time. Also, they have the capability when the situation requires it to have residents remotely monitored by their doctor, who can determine what, if any, action should be taken. Time spent by staff with the residents is very important; therefore, they have installed many labour-saving systems to ensure this happens as often as possible.

Every effort has been made to cater for the needs of residents. This includes a wide range of accommodation, on and off site facilities, freshly prepared food to meet dietary requirements, relaxing surroundings with sensory gardens, themed reminiscence lounges and stunning panoramic views across the Gipping Valley.

Within the 55 rooms, there are 4 double rooms.
Currently, residents range from 32 to 100 years old. They are able to accept Adults over 18 years.

They have a range of activities at Baylham Care Centre, from trips out, Bingo, Cinema Club, sing-a-longs, quizzes, coffee mornings, Chair Aerobics, Arts & Crafts, Flower Arranging and Baking to name but a few.

They have additional services available at Baylham;
•        Day Care
•        Palliative Care
•        In-house Physiotherapy Department
•        Respite Care
•        Separate Specialist Dementia Care.

My husband's aunt and uncle, aged 93 and 92, needed to go into care suddenly a year ago. I visited 10 care homes in 2 weeks. Baylham was my 2nd visit and I was met (unannounced visit) by the manager, Sandi, on arrival. I then had a tour of the home and everything was very well explained, not in a pushy
way, with great pride of the dementia unit.

The residents are extremely well cared for by the staff, who are happy and interactive with all the residents. I knew immediately that this was the ideal place for our relatives. A full year on, they are happy and settled. It was not easy for them or us but with great patience and understanding, Baylham has created a lovely new home for them.

My Mum was admitted in a very poor state of health after illness and from the very first minute they made her welcome and as comfortable as possible. Their prompt action in calling the doctor when they felt she needed it probably saved her life and after a brief stay in the hospital, she returned to
Baylham and I can now relax in the knowledge that she is well cared for. From hardly being able to sit, she is now walking with a frame. She is happy and content. The staff are so kind and caring and deal promptly with any requests. The atmosphere of the home is amazing, there are lots of activities for those that want to join in, celebrating Easter, Mothers Day and Chelsea flower show to name but a few. And if she wants so stay in her room, that's fine too as the staff are always popping in and out so she never feels alone.

My daughter (a stroke victim) is a resident at Baylham Care Centre since November 2016 has always been treated with love and respect, but on mothers day the staff went above and beyond normal care standards. Her three children and myself were cosseted and spoilt alongside her all day long. From the
wonderful greeting as soon as we walked through the door. The lovely home cooked lunch and beautiful table setting we all shared. The mothers day activities the home provided and the wonderful surprise of a mother's day card and flowers for me courtesy of the carers because they knew that my daughter could not provide them for me. Caring, loving and thoughtful in the extreme. A wonderful home.

Comfortable and friendly care home, with professional staffing and an emphasis on client dignity and respect.
Varied themes and activities showed imagination to provide mental stimulation to residents.
All in all, a good place for my mum to spend her final years.

When I was looking for a nursing home for my mother - and I looked at a lot - Baylham Care Centre was streets ahead of the others. Most of the others were like hotels, and I thought I wouldn't want to live in a hotel and I don't think my mum would either.
Baylham is homely and the staff are so kind
and helpful. My mum said sometime after arriving that I needn't look for anywhere else 'I like it here'.
My brother, who lives in Canada came over for a week when it was Mum's birthday, and when he returned to Canada he e-mailed me to say he got back safely and said 'thanks for finding Mum such a nice place'. This says it all. Would thoroughly recommend Baylham Care Centre to anyone.

My mother has just passed away after 4 and a half years at Baylham Care Centre. From moving into the home until passing away, my mother was treated to an excellent standard at all times by all staff.
The home is built to a very high standard and perfectly set-out. Communication to and from all parties
has been superb and efficient. There have always been activities to be involved in. The home management and staff have been very supportive and approachable concerning bereavement and necessary arrangements.
Mother and family highly recommend Baylham Care Centre.

Mum was moved to Baylham after developing dementia with anxiety and paranoid issues. The staff and home have helped to significantly reduce these issues and mum is much happier.

Baylham Care Centre gave excellent care to my cousin. I felt that she was always treated with respect. All the staff seemed to be involved with care of residents, and it was well-staffed. I often sat quietly and observed staff behaviour and never had any concerns about their treatment of residents.
My cousin received end of life care at Baylham, after a severe stroke. In her last few days she was treated with love and dignity.

Mum spent four weeks at Baylham Care Centre, after a period of ill health, partly at home and partly in hospital. On her arrival, she was given every comfort, both physically and mentally, which continued throughout her stay. Staff were all so kind, caring and friendly, to patients and family alike,
and their dedication could not be faulted.

Current Review Score: 9.2 (9.217)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.2 (9.217) out of 10 for Baylham Care Centre is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.7 out of 5 from 10 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.5 out of 5 from 8 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.690 for Baylham Care Centre is calculated as follows: ( (89 Excellents x 5) + (19 Goods x 4) + (7 Satisfactorys x 3) + (1 Poors x 2) ) ÷ 116 Ratings = 4.69
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.527 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Baylham Care Centre is based on 8 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.8
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 55 registered maximum number of service users is 11. 8 Positive Reviews ÷ 11 = 0.727
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
