The home specialises in dementia care and encourages physical activity and stimulating activities to keep residents engaged.

Mum has recently transferred here and has settled really well. The staff regularly work with mum on walking and mixing with others and she already has some residents she's comfortable with.

Very satisfied with the overall service. We have had some issues which have all been addressed promptly. I have several meetings with the manager and the senior team and all are understanding and keen to help. Two members of staff on reception are always most helpful.

Mum moved into Acer Court in October 2022. She had been in the hospital for four weeks and was very withdrawn three months later; she is a different person. She loves the activities and joins in with most of the activities. She loves singing, and she has a lovely room and ensuite. Mum has made friends
with other residents and enjoys meals in the dining room. All the staff are kind, caring and respectful. Visiting Mum is always enjoyable. I know I don't have to worry when I go home.

I heartily recommend Acer Court. Most of the staff there exceeded the requirements for carers. My mum has become a very demanding resident due to the onset of dementia, but the staff put up with her and treat her with respect.
Mum enjoys the events they put on, even though she doesn't always attend
them.

The care home is lovely with helpful, cheerful staff. The member of staff on reception has been especially helpful. My dad has been here for a week and is settling in really well. I have also dealt with other members of staff, all of whom have really helped in various ways.

Staff treat residents and visitors with respect, they are kind and welcoming. It is my grandfather's birthday and the staff have prepared a spread for him and our family which I think is lovely. His room is lovely and clean and tidy. Easy for him to get around safely.

Acer Court is a lovely home, peaceful and well maintained. My mother moved here a couple of years ago, and I know she is in a safe and caring environment. The staff are very friendly and caring. As a family, we feel contented that Mum is getting the best care for her needs, as I myself have worked in
similar premises. I value the way Mum is free to venture out into the garden and feel free to an extent. 10/10 for everything.

Medication not administered with due care and diligence. Three occasions recently one and two tablets in bedroom remaining following delivery. Had to ask for replenishment of toilet paper and paper towels. Two leather belts and items of clothing missing.

Communication from management I feel could be improved. Attended relatives' meeting in June, items mentioned on agenda, no further update received. Finding postal items are not being received eg postcards, new hearing aid. Finding we have to ask and investigate rather than our relatives' needs communicated
to us.

Staff are very friendly, helpful, and always willing to answer questions. Mum has settled in well despite concerns of moving in. This has to be a reflection of how well the staff care for her. The only point from a relative perspective is better communication from the home would be appreciated.

My name is Gemma and I am the manager here at Acer Court. I have worked for Avery for over 8 years now developing my skills from a deputy manager in a busy Avery nursing home, in Staffordshire, to becoming a successful manager at sister home Alder House and now transferring to Acer Court.


I am from Stoke on Trent and I have worked in the healthcare industry for 18 years, completing most roles that you would find in a regular care home and working my way up to the manager role completing many qualifications along the way. My main experience, knowledge and background is in Dementia care and this is an area of care that I am most passionate about.

I have worked at Acer Court since March 2016. I began as a housekeeper and then progressed to care, as I enjoyed helping the residents and reassuring them when needed.


I moved on to become a Customer Service Advisor in June 2021. I enjoyed meeting people and want to help people where I can. I find my job rewarding, as often people aren't sure about moving their loved ones into a care home, and I feel I am able to support and reassure them. I enjoy completing my show rounds with the families and answering any questions where I can. I feel that when families are looking for a care home, this can be an emotional time for them, and they need compassion and someone to listen and support them on their journey to find their loved one in the right place.
