Richmond House is a residential care home specialising in dementia care, supporting residents to live happily and comfortably in the purpose-built home.

The home has fresh and modern features and furnishings which ensure the most up to date services and care can be offered to people living at Richmond house.

Richmond House has a variety of homely areas for residents to spend time in including a library, TV lounge, music area and a quiet lounge. There is also a more busier communal area where there is usually a hive of activity.

There is an outdoor patio area with a summer house and a gazebo for residents to enjoy, with raised flower and vegetable beds for residents to tend to their own plants and a variety of activities are always on offer.

The team is dedicated, passionate and highly skilled and trained in dementia care. Residents are family.

The home prides itself on the quality of food served to residents, with meals freshly cooked using nutritional and fresh local produce, catering to individual dietary and preferred diets. The residents are offered choices at each meal sitting from hot dishes to cold servings.

The ethos and practice of Richmond House is to provide and promote a person-centered service that is efficient, effective and enhances the individual’s experience and quality of life.

To be able to join in Music Therapy sessions with the residents by Zoom was so joyful during the pandemic. The challenges faced by staff to adapt to new technology to enable families to maintain a connection with a loved one were embraced, for which I was very grateful.

I don't think many of us envisaged using technology so much as we have in the last couple of years but it meant that we could still provide the stimulation via Zoom with both entertainers and families.

Our brother-in-law has been a resident at Richmond House Specialist Care Home, 71 Brighton Road, Rhyl for about two years by now at a most difficult time for himself and for the Care Home in managing the Corona Virus Pandemic.
For him, although suffering from memory problems as well as the recent
death of his wife, we as in-laws, are very satisfied and grateful for the obvious care that the home has provided for him and for the support and contact that the home has given us during the last couple of years.
We are elderly 'in-laws' who live quite a distance from the home - we chose it before the pandemic struck, as we thought it would enable his friends and neighbours to visit and keep in touch with him as well as us. Because of the Covid restrictions, this has not been possible, but the home has organised visits, care, medical needs, etc. very efficiently and we are very very grateful for this.
Whenever we visit it is obvious from his appearance that he is clean and well-groomed.

My father has been a resident of Richmond House for about twelve months now. During this time he has received excellent care from all the staff there. The staff have had many challenges during the pandemic but they have continued to put the health, safety and well-being of the residents first. The staff
are kind, cheerful and professional and are always available for updates and advice. I would highly recommend Richmond House.

Richmond House is a fabulous care home that provides the best care. The home is bright and breezy and they out on lots of activities to keep residents occupied. They have provided an excellent service during the lockdown and whilst I may not have been able to see Mum, she has been looked after so well.

The family have had bad experiences trying to find the right place for our wonderful mum and removed her from one home, prior to finding Richmond. We wanted to find a caring and compassionate home that managed Mum's physical and medical needs, as well as have staff who really care about each resident.
Richmond more than fulfils all of the above and in particular, Mum is happy and thriving and the family are extremely relieved and happy about that. The recent covid period has made things impossible and we phoned every day to check that she was well and staff were always informative, patient and kind at an extremely difficult time. The staff are fantastic and go out of their way to help. Thank you for taking care of Mum.

Richmond House has not only been a caring and safe sanctuary for my mother, but also a place I can confidently be assured that she is receiving the best care. My mother had a difficult few months in hospital, however, the staff at Richmond House have amazingly brought my mother back to a good place
both health-wise and mentally. We have seen a huge improvement which at her age is quite remarkable and beyond our expectations. It has been a difficult time for all care service providers yet in our experience, Richmond House has since my mother’s residency excelled in their service to both residents and family members.

Effective communication, and clear concern for my mother in a complex and evolving situation. My situation is possibly unusual as I have PoA over my Mother but live in Australia. Not necessarily as big a barrier as it might first appear, but requires adaptation and flexibility from the Home and myself.
Has not proved a barrier to maintaining quality care.

Our lovely dad moved into Richmond House in January 2022 when the family could no longer provide the all-round care that he needed to enable him to live independently. We had dreaded this moment but we are now so delighted that he is in Richmond House.
The care is just wonderful and dad’s health and
well-being have improved so much. He has 24 hour personalised care, constant stimulation through a wide range of activities and a really lovely environment. We don’t worry about him anymore because we know he is safe, well and looked after. Visits are a joy rather than a rush to cook, clean and provide care for him in between our already busy lives.
Due to his dementia, we miss him every day but all of us, his children, feel an immense amount of gratitude to Richmond House and the wonderful team there for looking after him as he was their dad too.

Due to a family relocation, we moved Mum from a home in Hampshire to Richmond House in February 2022. It’s been interesting comparing the differences: Richmond House feels like a ‘real home’ where people are cared for, compared to the previous home which felt more like a medical facility providing dementia
care. We’ve been impressed with the environment and care provided, the staff are lovely and it’s great to be able to easily take Mum out to the harbour/seafront which she loves!

My aunt has been a resident at Richmond house for what will soon be coming up to 2 years. For over a year now Covid has sadly made life so difficult for residents, family and staff. This has been managed in an exemplary way at this home. They have put the safety of the residents at the very top of their
list and developed ways of keeping us in contact as best they could. I have found the Zoom calls very beneficial - for us both. The staff on all levels are immensely caring, going out of their way to do whatever is necessary. Their loving caring manner does wonderfully what we are unable to do ourselves at present and it is such a pleasure to see my aunt having happy moments and to see how much she appreciates them. I can never thank you all enough.

This has been a particularly difficult year for Richmond House, but the management and staff have done everything possible to normalise the situation for their family and residents. The photos and videos regularly posted on Facebook have been a great source of pleasure and reassurance to our family
during a time when we have not been able to visit. My husband had a problem which required a visit to the A&E recently (not ideal at this time!), but I was kept fully informed and was happy that the necessary procedures were fully complied with upon his return for his own safety and that of the other residents and staff. Richmond House has been his home for 4 years now and I remain totally satisfied with the care he has received from the truly wonderful, hard-working and dedicated staff. They carry out their work in a very professional yet friendly way. I cannot recommend all of them enough, and thank them for everything they do for my husband.

Finding the right care home for a loved one has to be one of the hardest things to do. Having visited many in this area you have to make sure to choose the right one, and I certainly did with Richmond House; the minute I walked through the door in July 2019, I was greeted and shown around. All the residents
were being entertained and looked happy and relaxed. There are many areas to sit when visiting your relatives to have a cup of tea and biscuits. Lovely friendly staff who genuinely care. Sadly I have not been able to visit my Mum since the beginning of Covid but I know I can phone any time and always get a warm response from the staff. Dementia is a very cruel illness
but I am so confident that my mum is in the best place she could be, I have complete peace of mind. and I am very happy with Richmond House and that I placed her there.

My dad has been a resident for just over 4 years. Watching a loved one deteriorating with dementia is hard. The team at Richmond House have provided fantastic support to our family. My dad is very settled, comfortable and very much at home. He is well cared for, and they have put his best interests
first. During the pandemic, the standards of care have been great, and I know that it has not been easy. Without the support of Richmond House, this journey would be a lot harder for my dad and our family.

I am so grateful for all the staff at Richmond House. My Granny came to the home in February 2020 at a time when she hated life. Now she has a completely different outlook and loves life. With lockdown, it’s been hard not seeing her, but I love the daily updates of photos and videos the home upload
to Facebook. It’s so lovely hearing my Granny laugh again and have a smile on her face. Can’t recommend this place enough.

My mother has been resident in Richmond for over three years and she has always been treated with dignity, exceptional care and has genuinely felt loved and special. Family members have always felt reassured and relaxed in the knowledge that she is well cared for and treated as an individual despite
her dementia. The past twelve months have been extremely difficult for us being unable to visit, however, it has been so reassuring to see still photos and videos on Facebook showing how management and staff have been keeping the residents occupied and cheerful. We have nothing but high praise for the compassionate staff who have been going above and beyond in their duties. We are also mindful that this extraordinary situation also affects management and staff too, and they appear to leave any personal concerns as they enter the home.

I never thought anyone could look after my mum better than me, but I have to say my mum is really thriving at Richmond House- she has a better social life than me and has lovely people around her day and night.
She is so well cared for, she regards the staff as her friends, she tells me she is so lucky
to have found somewhere that makes her feel like she's on her holidays every day.
The staff are quick to let me know if she is in need of anything, just so happens they asked me recently to bring in larger clothes because she has put on weight..hence the wonderful food that is served in-between the biscuits and cake.
I am extremely happy with the care my mum is given and I honestly never thought id say that after such a heart-wrenching decision to put her into a care home.

My mother following a hospital stay has been at Richmond House for a couple of months now. After the hospital told us she needed to go into an EMI home we visited every EMI home we could find, Richmond House although out of our area was by far the best. Fresh, clean, spacious, with compassionate and
professional staff. We have decorated Mum's room with items she will relate to, photo's, pictures and ornaments, so she will have familiar things she can relate to when she goes to bed (The home will also allow you to have their handyman decorate it too if you so wish). All are encouraged to be up washed and dressed during the day, and then they can relax downstairs, in either the front lounge, a quieter library area or in the television room. On most days they seem to have a different activity going on, with days for a Hairdresser, Chiropodist, Dentist and Optician. - Thank you Richmond House, for your care and patience.

My mother has resided at Richmond House for a couple of years now during which time the home have accommodated with much compassion her slow decline. Her care needs are attended to and as a family, we are all very satisfied. She appears very happy and contented and pleased to be amongst familiar faces.

My mum's a happier and healthier person since joining Richmond House.
For us as a family, it has meant peace of mind. knowing she is safe, has company and good care of her needs.
It has also been good to see her getting involved in the activities the home put on for the residents - even getting artwork
on display!
