My father spent his last weeks being taken care of for his dementia and other medical complications. He was treated with respect and warmth. As a relative I felt that my father was liked by his carers. The food was excellent as was the standard of cleanliness. When he passed I felt comforted by the calm atmosphere in his room and the knowledge and care of the staff.

My mother is now a resident and is enjoying excellent care and patience from the staff. Who are looking after her every need.

Heather View family, my mum has been part of the family for 4 years. In this time she has made friends with not only the other residents but the staff as well. It is a very difficult decision to place your loved one in a care home and I've never regretted this decision once. They care for her as they would their own loved one, anticipating her needs and just having fun, whether it is a chat, holding her hand, getting pampered with a visit to the hairdresser or making sure she is dressed as glamorous as she used to be. Mum is now on the Nursing floor having moved from the Dementia floor and they have made sure all her pictures, photos have been put up exactly as they were in her previous room. The care that they provide is first class and all the team at Heather View do it with a smile. The staff are available if you need a quick chat and also provide comfort in difficult times. Thank you Heather View family for making Mum's dementia journey dignified for her and our family.

Visiting Care Homes I haven’t always left with the best impression, when I knew Mum needed to go to care home, we were concerned, as you hear stories. Our fears couldn’t have been further from the truth.
My Mum has been welcomed into the Heather View family, she was admitted during very difficult times with isolations, this was met with empathy and care.
Mum is treated with so much love and care, total dignity and nothing is ever too much trouble.
The atmosphere and culture is great, I feel like I am visiting my Mum in her home. Everyone is now my family, Mum loves going to have her hair done, she loves to get her nails painted weekly, enjoying choosing different colours, and having fun as she would put it “with my girls”. They know Mum's likes and dislikes. She adores a bath so regularly gets pampered. She enjoys a visit from Roo (dog) a glass of wine, watching the Chase, sing-a-longs. She mostly loves a particular staff member (especially his tea!) and “her girls”.

She is a happy, safe Mum!

My dad has been in Heather View for a few months now. I was very worried when he first went in but I need not have been the staff are so helpful, friendly and kind. Which helped so much. It’s a very stressful time.

And they have welcomed me and my family as well considering the stressful situation at the moment they have done a fantastic job.

Mum had been at Heather View for 5 years, throughout this time she has been very well cared for. Staff keep me updated on how Mum is doing or if there are any concerns.
Heather View is well maintained and spotlessly clean, no unpleasant odours!
The food is excellent, lots of choice.
There are lots of activities for the residents to keep them stimulated, prior to the Pandemic the activities team organised outings.

My Mum is very happy at Heather View and that makes me happy. Thank you all of your team.

My mother has been a resident at Heather View for the past 8 years. For the first couple of years, my late step-father was also a resident and I believe that those two years were amongst the happiest of his life. He made wonderful new friends from amongst the staff and, having been a carer for my mother for several years, at last he was being properly cared for at a time when his own needs were becoming more complex.

My mother has dementia but throughout her time at Heather View she has also been happy and has certainly been well cared for, with loving and thoughtful staff and very pleasant surroundings. It has made an enormous difference to me to know that both of them have been happy, safe and well treated in the latter stages of their lives. Thank you to all the staff at Heather View.

I could not be happier with the care that my mother receives.

All of the staff take such good care of her, her rooms are always clean and tidy, she is always well-groomed and in clean clothes which is not an easy task with her medical needs.

My experience with Heather View, Crowborough over the years has been one of total trust and cooperation. Caring for the elderly with or without dementia is a challenge, every resident will have their own, sometimes complex needs. What the staff at Heather View have from the management to the carers is experience and understanding. My late father lived at Heather View for many years, my mother moved in last year so I feel more than qualified to write a short review. So to summarise, if you want a home which can provide quality care that always listens and keeps you informed every day if needs be, Heather View is a safe choice.

It is a huge decision to find the right care home for your parents. Dad required nursing and Mum had dementia. A challenging prospect and we visited a number of care homes. A daunting decision to take your precious parents from their home of 66 plus years. Heatherview and their wonderful, caring staff have proved to be the 'home from home' care home that has constantly lived up to our wants and expectations, especially in the pandemic, where they have worked tirelessly. Sadly Dad died three years ago, but as Mum and Dad couldn't bear to live apart, it made Dad's life more bearable knowing where Mum was and how well she was being looked after. Losing Dad was understandably painful for us al. The staff were so kind and loving to Mum, losing her husband and away from her home, that she coped in time with understanding and friends around her. Kind words and hugs are natural gestures from the staff and always lots of laughing. It takes a special sort of person to give their all.

The care my mum received was exceptional. Each department played a part in keeping her happy and caring for her and I can’t thank them enough. We have always been kept informed throughout her stay and especially through all of the changes to visiting due to covid that have occurred over the last year. The staff would always go above and beyond to ensure she was comfortable and happy.

My Mum has been a resident of Heather View for several years and throughout the whole time she has been there, I have been very happy with the care and dedication that all members of staff have afford my Mum. She suffers from Dementia and although sometimes she doesn’t feel like doing certain things, she is given time and consideration for her feelings which is necessary to help levels of understanding. All through Covid, she has been fine and I am very much looking forward to the Summer when I can sit with her again in the garden.

My mum spent her final 5 months at Heather View. Arriving before the first lockdown, the staff were all very friendly and nothing was too much trouble to make Mum feel at home. There is a brilliant atmosphere with plenty going on if residents want to join in. Mum loved the fact that she could still have her hair and nails done regularly. Heather View were very proactive and should be praised for its handling of the challenging times of the pandemic. They were ahead of the game, quickly putting restrictions in place to protect the residents from the virus before the official lockdown. The kindness, care and good humour remained in the most trying of conditions. They set up video calls for residents and weekly zoom calls with relatives giving us clear/honest updates. Sadly, we lost mum in July but the staff at Heather View ensured her final days were completely dignified and full of respect. The care my mum received was outstanding, we will always remain grateful to the Heather View Family.

From the first time I phoned Heather View enquiring about their services for my father, to my father’s arrival at the home, the employees have shown me, and now my father, kindness and care and a complete understanding of the emotional turmoil that my father and his family are going through - especially at this horrific time we are all experiencing with Covid-19. From the managers to the care staff, nursing ....... ALL staff - everybody has been welcoming, informative and professional. I would also like to add that my dad is such a fussy eater but he loves the food!! Heather View must have an excellent chef.

I cannot thank Heather View enough for making this difficult process of sending your loved ones to a care home as seamless as possible and the care received has been first class. I can not recommend Heather View enough.

My mum was only at Heather View for a few weeks but during a very difficult time with the pandemic and our family circumstances. The staff at Heather View were superb. She thought her care was second to none - she felt safe, cared for and cherished. They handled the death of one of her children sensitively as we, her family, were not even able to give her the news in person due to COVID-19 and the staff made it possible for her to "attend" the funeral remotely. As she neared her passing, the staff made it possible for us to visit and be with her. The staff always sought to make things possible and my mum thought the world of her carers.

My aunt has a diagnosis of AD and Vascular Dementia, but SHE chose this home out of others visited as she thought it was a hotel and not a home! It seemed lively with a bit of bustle and a full itinerary of daily activities, not 'God's waiting room '. The staff have been thoughtful and caring and looked after her with love and compassion. Before the pandemic, a two-monthly meeting was held in the cinemas for family of residents. There the manger and staff gave updates about everything to do with the running of the home, so that we were always kept abreast of developments. The handling of the COVID-19 epidemic has been superb. The home took the decision to shut well ahead of government advice and has kept our loved ones safe. Meetings have moved to Zoom to keep us informed. If you want acres of garden this is not for you but if you and your loved one wish to walk to the High Street for shopping or lunch it is ideal. I highly recommend the home and the staff that work here.

Heather View care home has offered Dad a home where I can be confident he is well cared for, kept comfortable and safe and where he is content. The last few months have been unexpectedly challenging, and Heather View has helped me to keep in touch with Dad despite his dementia and confusion. Dad often says how well looked after he is and praises the care he is given. I am supremely grateful to all the staff and leadership team at Heather View for all they have done during the pandemic and all they continue to do.

The Heather View team have been excellent during the Covid-19 pandemic. They have worked extremely hard to contain the virus and protect the residents. The dedication from the whole team to safeguard our family members has been exceptional. The creation of red and green zones throughout the home protected residents and staff alike.
The regular communication to relatives via online weekly calls has also helped relatives understand the situation and anything we can do to support the Heather View team.
The staff have kept up my mother's spirits throughout, enabling her to have video calls with family and friends during the pandemic has been a key part.

I am now delighted to hear that the Heather View team are preparing to have garden visits. A huge amount of planning to keep the residents safe in being undertaken to allow this to happen. Thank you to the Heather View team for your dedication and care over the last 3+ months

Our mum has been living in Heather View for over 2 years now. The home is beautifully designed and maintained in a way which is very different from other care homes we looked at. What is very special about Heather View is the kindness and caring ways of the staff. This has been so important during this COVID epidemic and the courage and commitment of staff during this time has been humbling. We will never forget it. The activities and events are an important aspect of life in the home with celebrations of special days and lots of fun - and laughter. There is a smiling welcome as soon as you enter the building which continues throughout from everyone. We like the location as well because with its big windows residents can feel connected to the comings and goings in the outside world. Also, we must add that Heather View management went the extra mile to support us in some difficult times - and they didn’t have to. Thank you, everyone.

Meet the Team (1)

Sadie Hudson
Sadie HudsonJob Title:Home Manager

After 12 years working in care homes, I decided to join Care UK due to the outstanding reputation they are recognised for and leading the way forward.

The input into developing their teams acknowledges staff and rewards them for their hard work and commitment.

Outside of work, I love walking in the countryside, which I discovered at the start of lockdown. I attend gym fitness classes and enjoy weight training as this really does help keep a positive mindset and helps alleviate stress.

My favorite part of each day at Heather View is being on the floor and talking to residents, and hearing their ideas and suggestions. For me, it is important to enable the residents to be involved in the running of the home so they feel included and valued.

I look forward to leading and developing the home team, as well as giving and enabling opportunities for the residents to create meaningful moments.
