My Dad became a resident of Heather View in January 2020.
The staff are always very helpful, friendly and welcoming. They keep residents entertained and stimulated and there is a beautiful garden area to use.
Conversations with the carers are informative and when I telephone for updates I am often able to speak to my Dad in person. Since the Coronavirus pandemic, the home has been in regular contact via Zoom to keep family and friends up to date on the health of our loved ones. We have nothing but praise for this home and its staff.
On Dad's birthday in February, the carers provided us with drinks and biscuits and the kitchen staff made him a lovely birthday cake to celebrate. Dad enjoys all his food and always tells us he is well fed.

If you are thinking of looking at a care home for yourself or a relative please consider Heather View. We highly recommend it.

I just want to say that I am so pleased and grateful to the staff and management of Heather View. Their response to the Covid-19 threat has been exceptional! The communication has been steady and clear. It is invaluable to know that Mum is safe and well looked after, especially as we cannot travel to the UK just now. Additionally, they and the community went out of their way to celebrate her special day and include us in the celebrations from afar. It's a great testament that Heather View received such support from their community and other family members!

This review relates to my aunt's stay at Heather View since Dec 2019.
The care, attention and compassion that the Care-Assistant and Nursing staff demonstrate on an ongoing daily basis have been exceptional. They are led by the Team Leaders who are extremely professional - they manage a well organised and efficient care service, they are always on-hand to answer our questions and to carry out any specific requests that we may have.
Up until now, there has been a Hostess working who helps with meals and drinks for the residents, although she has performed far more than just her hostess duties - she has been a wonderful asset, but she has now moved to being a Care-Assistant, so I hope that she will be replaced as the Hostess is also another valuable asset to make the residents' lives just that little better.
The quality of food overall has been of a high standard.
My aunt and my family would highly recommend Heather View.

Thank you all Broadstone staff - carry on your exceptional work!

I am full of admiration for the way this nursing home is run, and for the wonderful kindness and respect shown to the residents. Never a crossword. Cleanliness and paying particular attention to all aspects of care. The staff are always striving to find even better ways to care for loved ones and their relatives are hugely supported, especially for end-of-life, palliative cancer care. Always refreshments and hugs when needed. Thank you Heather View.

My sister only moved to Heather View a few months ago but the staff are so welcoming and friendly it seems much longer. Every member of staff goes out of their way to speak to me when I come in, I am updated on how my sister is doing without having to ask. I cannot fault the care and effort the staff have put into making my sister feel part of a family here and we always feel welcome when visiting. A huge weight has been taken off my shoulders knowing my sister is being well looked after and cared for.

My mother-in-law stayed at Heather View for two weeks respite. She found the home very comfortable and felt safe and said that she would come back again. This was her 4th time at respite and is looking forward to returning in the future. The variety of meals is excellent, the activities are fantastic and mum really enjoyed them. The staff are very friendly and nothing was too much trouble for them.

Having had five years with mum in care featuring three care homes, this one is by far the best.
The standard of care is great. The activities and inclusion are better.

Everyone is friendly and open. Any concerns are listened to and acted on. Even the relative's meetings are fun, and the rocky road cake is superlative.

Both my parents have been in Heatherview since April. Both have different needs and are in separate rooms but are able to be with each other daily, after 61 years of marriage this was essential. They have both settled very well into their new home and rooms. The general feel of the home is extremely welcoming and the staff at all levels are lovely! They are very kind to both mum and dad and are always on hand to answer any questions we may have. My parents are treated with respect and dignity and I am very pleased to have found this lovely home that can accommodate both my parent's needs.

Heather View was chosen after visiting five other nursing homes in the area and on the advice of a relative of a resident who had visited 60! On the whole, we were not disappointed except for the food. According to the press, nursing homes do not get all our fee. My disease (M.N.O) made a variety of food difficult to provide, but the chefs did their best. My visitors remarked on how friendly and caring the staff were, to which I agree, but there was one incident caused by extraordinarily poor management which was upsetting to the staff and myself. Fortunately, there was a more senior and capable manager who was able to calm the situation down, but the damage was done.

Thank you for the lovely comments about our home and the care you received from the team. Our food continues to be highly regarded by residents – however, we have highlighted this as a focus area for improvement and hope to welcome you back to see the changes we make. My mother was admitted to Heather View following a spell in hospital, for respite care, but has subsequently become residential. She has settled in very well and seems content.
The home runs a competition among the care staff as to who the resident thinks is the most caring and open carer, and my mother has stated they are all so good, she cannot pick any one individual for the award!

Many thanks to the home Manager and the staff.

My mother spent 6 weeks in respite care at Heather View recuperating after getting into difficulties coping at home on her own. My brother and I were very impressed with the high standard of care she received and were glad to know that she was being well looked after. We found that all the staff from carers to management were friendly, accommodating and caring and that they treated her with respect and sensitivity. We always felt very welcome when visiting and were impressed with the positive atmosphere in the home. Thanks to her stay at Heather View our mother has regained health, strength and confidence and has with care support at home, been able to return to her own home.

I first visited Heather View 6 years ago when a friend was in care at the home. I was very impressed then with the care that he received. Six years later, a good friend has recently had a 3-month stay at Heather View recovering from an illness. Once again, I was struck by how friendly, accommodating and caring all the staff were, from the care team to the management team. They all had one aim and that was to make my friend's stay as nice and comfortable as possible and this they did. All the staff are also very welcoming to visitors, even to the dogs that we took with us to visit! Thank you.

Having made a preliminary visit, where I was most impressed by this professionally run home, I confidently booked my 92yr old mother (who has Alzheimer's) into Heather View for a two-week respite stay.
Despite the somewhat austere exterior, inside the rooms are bright and airy and thoughtfully decorated. The warm, friendly staff make up an enthusiastic team, who cheerfully attend to those in their care.
On collection, I found Mum looking happy and relaxed and the staff seemed genuinely sorry to see her go. She had enjoyed a variety of activities including a presentation about garden birds (in the cinema room), visits from various friendly animals and a local 'mother and toddler' group and even some 'armchair yoga'! She had also had her hair done (in the in-house hair-dressing salon) and the attentions of a chiropodist, as requested.

I will certainly book my mum another stay here again soon, confident in the knowledge that she will be safe, happy and very well cared for.

Meet the Team (1)

Sadie Hudson
Sadie HudsonJob Title:Home Manager

After 12 years working in care homes, I decided to join Care UK due to the outstanding reputation they are recognised for and leading the way forward.

The input into developing their teams acknowledges staff and rewards them for their hard work and commitment.

Outside of work, I love walking in the countryside, which I discovered at the start of lockdown. I attend gym fitness classes and enjoy weight training as this really does help keep a positive mindset and helps alleviate stress.

My favorite part of each day at Heather View is being on the floor and talking to residents, and hearing their ideas and suggestions. For me, it is important to enable the residents to be involved in the running of the home so they feel included and valued.

I look forward to leading and developing the home team, as well as giving and enabling opportunities for the residents to create meaningful moments.
