The team at Moorlands Lodge offers a warm welcome to all. Moorlands Lodge is a care home like no other in the area. The home is purpose built and offers exceptional accommodation, which is affordable but of a very high standard. The home provides residential, nursing, respite and dementia care.

The home happily accommodates couples and companions who wish to remain together as they continue their care journey and make new memories side by side.

A one bedroom suite offers a bedroom and separate lounge and kitchen with a full en-suite wet room and is unique as it offers double the space of most care homes and is ideal for those wanting extra room or couples who want to stay together. The home also features studio suites for those who prefer something more cosy. Rooms come unfurnished allowing residents to bring those special pieces of their home with them, something they find helps the settling in process significantly and truly makes Moorlands Lodge feel like home.

Moorlands Lodge offers a fully licensed outstanding restaurant, the menu being dictated by current residents, and an in house café for residents and visitors to enjoy afternoon tea and home made cakes. The home also has a large activities team who provide trips out, visiting speakers, one to one sessions and activities which are again chosen by the resident committee.

Residents range from those who are relatively independent and still drive, to those who require respite, full nursing, dementia or end of life care and the team pride themselves on providing discreet support in a place which is not institutional but as much like home as they can make it. Dignity, encouraging independence and involving family and friends are part of the fabric of Moorlands Lodge and they hope that these values are echoed in the recommendations and testimonials received.

My mother moved to Moorlands Lodge in October 2019, having lived alone and fairly independently for a number of years. The transition was one that we were happy to accept (as I and other family members felt she needed more support than she had hitherto admitted), however, we approached it with some
trepidation knowing the significant change which would be involved for her.
In the event that trepidation proved unnecessary. She has made the move and adapted more easily than we could have hoped, and the welcome extended to her at Moorlands has been a large part of that. I have found the staff to be professional, caring and understanding at all stages - and above all, they have been kind. My mother regularly comments on how nice her surrounds are and how accommodating everyone is. She has made friends and is more cheerful and happy in herself than I have seen her in a long time.
Also, the consistent efforts of the staff to keep relatives informed and involved are very much appreciated!

A thoroughly worthwhile 2 weeks respite stay at Moorlands Lodge. Without exception, we found all member of staff encountered to be kind, helpful, cheerful individuals who gave us the level of care and contentment we needed.
Our rooms were light and spacious, beds warm and comfortable. Room heating
ideal, built-in kitchenette a superb facility, curtains light and light-proof. All ideal.
Food generally good, though at times the greens were not sufficiently cooked and the variety could have been better. But the majority of meals were to our liking and enjoyed.
If the need arises we will have no hesitation in returning to Moorlands Lodge.

I have been at Moorlands Lodge for about 6 years and regard it now as my home. All the staff both carers and restaurant are always very helpful and if I have any issues they are quickly dealt with. If on any occasional days I need extra help is always dealt with.

Very caring and efficient staff. Accommodation comfortable and everything kept in working order due to very good maintenance staff. Nursing care is very good indeed if you need it. The activities group work very hard and always cheerful. Restaurant staff also very capable and one would never be hungry
as there is a great choice of food.
However, this comes at a price and it is very expensive and one hopes to die before the money runs out.

Having had a hip replacement operation, I stayed 2 weeks at Moorlands Lodge.
The staff were very welcoming and helpful. A wonderful atmosphere enabling me to recover and regain my mobility.
The accommodation was spacious and comfortable. Activities varied, happy and sociable. A wide range of food
was served, tastefully cooked and presented.

I am currently enjoying my first stay in a care home and generally speaking I am finding it to be a very pleasant experience. My room is extremely comfortable with a pleasant view over a garden area and a wonderful Fir Tree. Amenities are excellent as is the catering.

My brother and I were in need of urgent help in placing our mother in care after she was incapacitated with labyrinthitis which had adversely affected her balance. Moorlands Lodge and their outstanding management and staff in general were really compassionate and efficient in taking her in and giving
her the care and attention she needed to get her back on her feet. She is now living in her own home again, with domiciliary care and hopefully will continue so until things get too much for her, at which time I am sure we will turn to Moorlands Lodge again, probably for a permanent stay.

Has all the appearance of a bright and cheerful hotel at 5-star level - nothing is too much trouble for both clients and visitors.

Well laid out accommodation. Extremely friendly staff, helpful and knowledgeable. Excellent food and restaurant layout and helpful staff.

My Aunt spent a period of respite care at Moorlands Lodge following a spell in hospital. She lives alone and we did not feel she was ready to return home straight from hospital. Moorlands Lodge proved to be the perfect place for her to regain her confidence and their excellent care and support has
helped to return her to independent living once more. I would not hesitate to recommend the excellent facilities and the wonderful staff at Moorlands Lodge.

The home has a lovely atmosphere. The team is so welcoming and the nursing care is fantastic. The staff really care about the residents and are on hand to advise. I am so glad we found Moorlands - it has given us all peace of mind in what could have been a difficult period.

I have been here for the first few weeks as a respite patient and have now decided to stay long term.
The staff are all delightful, creating an atmosphere of happiness and helpfulness at all times.
The kitchen staff, in particular, are so good at helping me with my awkward food requests owing to swallowing
difficulties.
I have met quite a few residents and they all agree it is an excellent establishment and are happy here.
I have, therefore, no hesitation in recommending Moorlands very highly and wish it well for the future.

With all the challenges we face in life, being old with a few problems (issues?) age, which comes to all, if you live long enough, has no real 'pain' because it is helped to bear by the excellent care and sympathy that the management and all staff here at Moorlands Lodge give. My mother spent 2 years in the main house and for the last 6 months is in Livingstone. At no time have we had any worries. One is always kept up to date. Meals are excellent and a big effort is made around special occasions either generally or to the particular Resident. The staff are always helpful
and kind with a lot of respect for the Residents. The ‘outings’ and entertainment is terrific. A small problem can be the parking! The refurbishment makes everything look lighter and brighter. We are always informed of anything to do with medical problems or of the inevitable, occasional ‘falls’. This is inevitable with age and balance.

I found the atmosphere in Moorlands Lodge so warm and welcoming especially in Livingstone Ward for dementia patients.
Where my husband lived for nearly a year. Each of the staff had a different personality but each of them were so affectionate and caring, treating them with sympathy, patience and understanding.

meant so much to me and enabled me to have a life.

A safe caring, cheerful haven for 4 weeks post-op. All staff were attentive, kind and understanding as well as very professional. Pleasant open surroundings with an atmosphere conducive to healing. Every one seemed to have time to check and listen. It couldn't have been better.

I have a wealth of experience in the care sector and my team are responsible for ensuring our residents lead a full and enriched life whilst living at Moorlands Lodge.


A comprehensive activities schedule, as well as trips out are provided at Moorlands Lodge and I am passionate about offering residents a full and varied programme seven days a week, including evenings, to appeal to all needs and abilities.
