From the moment my mother arrived, she was treated with care and respect. Although suffering from dementia, staff spoke to her, allowing her family to listen and step in if needed. After several weeks, the family are all very happy with the support, both medical and social, Mum receives.
The staff
always make us feel welcome when we visit. Access to medical care is uncomplicated due to the relationship with the local community.
Reply from Justine Cowell, Manager at Westbury CourtThank you for such a lovely review of Westbury Court. We are delighted that your mother has settled in so well and that you feel supported as a family, our team will be happy to receive your praise.

My mother spent her final days at Westbury Court.
The care and staff were exemplary. She was treated with courtesy and kindness throughout. Not only was my mother very well looked after, the staff took the time to care for us, providing tea and support at every turn.
Thank you.

Whenever I visit my mother the staff are always very friendly and welcoming. Mum is always treated with care and kindness. The standard of cleanliness is of a very high standard, the food could be improved at times but on the whole, I am very pleased with Mum's care.

This care home is very good and the staff and carers are all friendly and always speak to you and nothing is too much trouble.
Just occasionally, the carers do not change pads often enough.

Unfortunately, I arrived at singalong time, had to take mum back to her room as too noisy for conversation.
They used to do a list of what was on so I could avoid coming at these times.
Can't fault mum's care though, really pleased.
Reply from Tessa Matthews, Marketing at Westbury CourtThank you for your lovely comments about your mum's care. So glad to hear that your mum was enjoying the singalong. The 'What's on this week' programme is posted on the home's 'Magic Moments Club' noticeboards and an additional 'What's on today' sheet is available in reception. If you aren't able to get into the home to see what's going on, you might want to join brighterkind's Magic Moments Club App - this can be used on your phone and has the activities uploaded by the home each week. It also has the benefit that you can share photos and stories with your mum even when you aren't in the home. Next time you are visiting, why not ask the activities team about the App?

From the first day my Mum moved to Westbury Court, every effort has been made to settle her as quickly as possible and meet her needs. The surroundings and rooms are of a high standard and she is treated with the dignity and respect at 97 she deserves. She is comfortable, safe and has access to everything
she needs. The staff give their absolute best and are a credit to Westbury Court. Thank you to everyone for your efforts and care you give to my Mum. It is greatly appreciated by us both.

I am completely satisfied with the standard of care and accommodation at Westbury Court. I have also found all the administrative staff and managers easy to deal with and empathetic. The activity staff are energetic and engaging to all.
The only very slight negative is the standard of food which is
at times a little lacking.

When my father was admitted to hospital he was being difficult due to his dementia. When he was discharged the only place our family wanted him to go was Westbury Court. We stood our ground and thankfully he was admitted in January 2018

The care that my father has received since he moved to Westbury

Court in January has been nothing short of excellent
He has advanced dementia and can be difficult. The staff have shown him such care and kindness and told me they adore him and what a lovely man he is - always nice to hear that about a relative who is poorly.

They have welcomed all my father's family into their "care staff family".

They have kept us informed at every stage of my father's treatment and care including immediate notification if he falls, sees the Dr or paramedics and is admitted to hospital.

They treat him with the utmost respect

I have nothing but the highest praise for the care and admin staff and would recommend Westbury Court to anyone who needs to be cared for.

My mother, by mistake at 3am one morning, pushed the emergency button for the light. I was hardly out of bed before two men were in my room. I only wanted to go to the bathroom but they were instantly in my room. What more could I have wished for had I been unwell.

In late November I had a visit to look round Westbury Court which was followed by an assessment of my mother in our home. In both cases, the members of staff were thorough, friendly and very caring which immediately gave me a great impression. From my mother's first day in the home, we were greeted
by various staff members wanting to chat and introduce themselves instead of just doing their jobs. My mother settled in immediately and is very content. She is thriving on the care she is receiving, which is second to none. I am also very impressed with the various activities available to residents. Highlights have been a visit from reindeer and live entertainment with lovely refreshments at Christmas. There is knit and natter, gentle exercise sessions, regular live entertainment and much more. PAT dogs are a big hit too. My mother's room is lovely. It is spacious and has a good en-suite. Everywhere is always clean and fresh. I thoroughly recommend Westbury Court.

My partner enjoyed her stay at Westbury Court for a fortnight's respite. The staff were both welcoming and reassuring, and help and support was pitched at the right level - not intrusive but alertly ordinary. She is likely to return for further respite stays in future. All was clean and tidy and she
was impressed that when staff returned laundry it was put away. The food was plentiful, everything worked, all rooms were accessible and able to accommodate a powered wheelchair. She enjoyed a range of activities, especially the PAT therapy dog and the visits from the pre-schoolers. There was generally a lively and positive atmosphere during the day and all staff were chatty and personable. She found the presence of nursing staff on site very reassuring, should she have needed their attention and this helped her be more relaxed overall. All administrative arrangements were dealt with efficiently and accurately and front desk staff were informative and cheery.

Current Review Score: 9.8 (9.845)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.8 (9.845) out of 10 for Westbury Court is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 19 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 19 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.870 for Westbury Court is calculated as follows: ( (192 Excellents x 5) + (20 Goods x 4) + (4 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 216 Ratings = 4.87
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.975 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Westbury Court is based on 19 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.975
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 63 registered maximum number of service users is 12.6, which has been reached with 19 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
