Oakes is the perfect place for my mum. She appreciates the staff and how caring they are. She always comment on how much good there is. The staff, particularly management, work alongside us to make sure mum is settled and happy. She is encouraged to move around and leave her room to join in activities. My sister and I have built up a good relationship with the staff.

Reply from Maxwell Andrews, Marketing Lead at The Oakes Care Centre

Thank you for your kind words. It's lovely to hear Mum feels so well cared for and that the team, and management especially, work alongside you to keep her settled and happy. Encouraging her to join in and enjoy the activities makes all the difference, and we're glad you and your sister have built such a good relationship with the staff. We'll pass your thanks on to everyone at Oakes.

Welllllll, Shetland ponies visited today! Mum absolutely lit up when they both trotted into her room. So many smiles and strokes; she absolutely loved it.

Mum has been resident around 8 weeks now and staff are so kind, caring and gentle and always happy to take time to chat and let us know how she's getting on. As family of a new resident we too have lots to learn and feel very supported in "learning the ropes". There is always someone on the end of the phone too to ask questions of and to have our minds put at rest. Early days, obviously, but we're very happy in that we feel mum is safe and well cared for.

My grandma was admitted from home after being cared for by my grandad for many years, it was a big decision for us to consider a home and we felt terrible but grandad desperately needed respite, we were relieved on admission day as the home manager and team made us feel at ease. Everything we asked for was sorted. Thank you to the manager & team for the support we were given.

Made to feel very welcome by caring staff. Also allowed to take in dog which the residents loved. Spent a very pleasant hour and a half with aunty who we think benefited greatly from the visit.

It was also very spacious with easy movement around the building.

My mum has been in The Oakes Care Centre for a few months. As a family, we could not ask for a more caring, safe and friendly environment. Nothing is too much trouble for the carers, and the activities are well organised and takes into account the resident's interests. The facilities are first class. Family and friends are made to feel welcome and encouraged to be involved in the life of the home. It is comforting to know that Mum is in a safe place and well looked after.

Lovely party afternoon with entertainment, a buffet and a tombola. Mum and I both enjoyed it and it was lovely to go together. Having the ice cream van was a lovely touch. Thank you to all involved - all the hard work and organisation was worthwhile.

Mum was welcomed into the home in March 2023 and passed away peacefully and with dignity in May 2023.
She felt secure and safe and as a family, we witnessed love and respect towards her and all of the other residents.

We would have no hesitation in recommending The Oakes Care Centre. The staff are special people and there is a wonderfully friendly atmosphere with lots going on. If you are considering a care home then The Oakes should be at the top of your list.

My mum, who has dementia, moved to The Oakes Care Centre in June of 2022, she had been residing in another care home for 3 years, I wish she had moved to The Oaks much earlier. I feel so much happier with the care and attention she is given from the staff. I visit the home regularly and know that this genuine care and affection extends to all the residents who are at different stages of their dementia.

My mother has been a resident at The Oakes for nearly two years. She arrived during the pandemic and lockdown, and during that time, the staff were phenomenal - I have nothing but admiration for them. My mother is unable to walk, and her quality of life is very limited, but she feels safe and cared for and is not unhappy, all of which is due to the high standard of care she has received.

I have found The Oakes Care Centre absolutely fantastic for my late mother. She spent over four years there and has been looked after fantastically whilst in their care as she suffered from dementia. Her passing in the care home was peaceful in the end but it's just unfortunate that GPs won't visit the same to care homes since the pandemic. My mum was happy and well looked after and was always clean and presentable when we saw her. I would always recommend The Oakes care home as a long-term residential care for people suffering from dementia. Absolutely wonderful care and cannot thank them enough.

Dedicated staff and care. Social aspects are amazing, with activities and outings carefully planned for everyone to be inclusive of individual needs and limitations without individuals feeling embarrassed at a difficult time in their lives. Accepting that one has to give up their independence is difficult enough. Facilities are excellent, hairdressers etc. Warm and welcoming, modern, well-equipped rooms and facilities. Clean, person hygiene and clothes always kept clean.

My mum has been a resident at The Oakes since July. Her care is exemplary, the staff are excellent and are respectful of Mum's wishes. With familiar staff on duty, there is a consistency of care. Always plenty of activities going on, if she chooses to join in. Her room is very comfortable and homely. She loves the beautiful garden with the summerhouse. Christmas has been great with so much going on and a fabulous party for family and friends. Well done Oakes, you're amazing. Thank you.

When we arrived with mum, the staff could not have been more welcoming. I was allowed to prepare her room the day before her arrival and could put her personal possessions in place. The room is lovely. Shared areas are nicely furnished and clean. The dining room is dressed like a restaurant. My only worry is that mum tells me that the food is poor, the portions small and the food poorly cooked.

Thank you for your feedback, it is very much appreciated. Our Head Chef has spoken with your Mother to seek a detailed understanding of her feedback about the food provided and we are working positively with her to ensure the food she enjoys is on offer to her. We will keep checking she is happy with the standards she expects. Once again, thank you for letting us know.

My mother transferred to The Oakes in April of this year and from the very beginning, the care was exceptional her room was prepared with all her personal stuff prior to her arrival which, as she had dementia, really helped with the transition. From day one, the staff were fantastic - the establishment is spotlessly clean and the standard of food is excellent. It is just a wonderful place to stay.

Unfortunately, my dear mum passed away on the 23/07/2022 she was gravely ill for a week prior to her passing. The staff were absolutely fabulous - they made a very upsetting situation so much more bearable. I cannot thank and praise them enough - they went above and beyond any expectations I had.
