Unfortunately, my mother passed away in December 2023 at Mill View Care Home. I cannot thank the staff enough. They were all so supportive and showed the utmost respect. Whilst my mother was alive she enjoyed all the wonderful facilities on offer. She was cared for with such kindness and professionalism. As a family, we were very impressed, so grateful to have found such a well-run care home.

Having reviewed five homes in the area, we opted for Mill View and have not been disappointed. The level of care is excellent and the staff strive to make the residents feel relaxed and welcome. There is a full schedule of activities for all residents should they wish to partake and encourage them to do so. The menu is varied and prepared to an excellent standard. In short, I feel we chose well and dad has settled in well. We made the right choice!

We cannot recommend Mill View more highly. The care and attention given to our mum during her just over five years stay was excellent. We had the peace of mind that she was being well looked after and we were kept well informed of any changes to her routine or health. The staff are all very friendly and attentive.

I have been a resident for several months and have found the staff consistent in their excellent range of care. I am particularly impressed by the interest they take in my hobbies, all of which adds to the comforting sense of community that exists here. I have absolutely no regrets about selling up to come here, having shed the sometimes onerous tasks of house ownership.

This residential care home is well managed, staffed by enthusiastic and well-trained staff, clean, safe and responsive and supplies excellent residential care within a modern building some fifteen minutes walk from the centre of East Grinstead. Rooms are somewhat larger than average for the area and incorporate an en suite wet room. The activities for residents are well-organised and varied. The lounges, gardens, cinema, dining room, coffee shop, cleaning, individual care, hairdressing, podiatry, opticians and dentistry services are all excellent.
Probably the key to the quality of care is the philosophy that the staff come in to work in the resident’s own home, and this translates into really imaginative and consistently high-quality care.

Recommended.

All the team have shown amazing care, patience and understanding during an initial challenging settling-in period with my mother. She is now happy, safe, very well fed and more active than she was ever able to be at home. A huge relief for all the family.

I contacted Mill View at a very difficult time as my Dad had been admitted to hospital and we were advised he would no longer be able to live on his own. All the staff were so helpful and understanding. They really went the extra mile to ensure that Dad was able to move in. It was a very challenging time and nothing has been too much trouble. Dad has now been a resident for a month and everyone has been so kind and supportive.

Mill View stepped in and offered my husband and myself 2 weeks of respite care. Even though this was expensive for me to fund myself, it was worth every penny. I was unable to find anyone else to help me, and I was desperate for some rest. I am so grateful for the care they took of my husband and the way they offered to help me. I will recommend Mill View to anyone, without restriction.

Outstanding care home. Each and every one of the staff are amazing. My mother was there for her last 10 months. It was here I got to spend some quality time with her, the staff did an outstanding job of caring for her. It was the best I had seen my mum in years. It is a great home and the staff always give you a warm welcome. I can’t give it enough praise. I would like to name them all. A big special thanks to one member of staff in particular. Thank you Mill View for giving my mum the best that you could possibly do.

I was so impressed by the care, respect and professionalism shown towards my mum. It is such a difficult decision to go into a care home, but all the staff made the move so friendly that I felt reassured it was the right decision for my mum. Everyone from the admission team to the nurses and the care assistants made mums stay comfortable and dignified. Thank you all for also helping me through such a difficult time, and showing me such kindness and understanding. I can highly recommend Mill View.

My mum has now been a resident at Mill View for the last 7 years and throughout all that time the care she has received from all the staff at Mill View has been excellent. Mum is always happy and smiling when we visit and I do not think it is too much to claim that had she not been at Mill View then she would no longer be with us.

This is down to the fact that she is well cared for and there are always activities to take part in and to keep the mind alert.

Throughout the COVID pandemic, the standard of care shown to my mum has not altered so thank you to all the staff in what were extremely challenging times.

Mum has been here since February and due to current visiting restrictions, it is difficult to get a real understanding of Mill View or the daily activities available for the residents. Overall the staff appear to be very helpful and take time and effort to understand Mum’s needs. Her main complaints seem to be the food but as I have not seen the standard of the meals, I cannot comment further.
There have been a couple of instances where we have had to ask several times for things to be done, an example being around the changing of the bed linen. I had to ask numerous times for a change of sheets as they were not changed for over 2 weeks despite being added to her care plan. Hopefully, this has now been resolved and they will be changed regularly going forwards.

I have completed my ratings based on limited information gained in the first couple of months.

Thank you so much for your feedback - I’m incredibly happy to hear your kind comments regarding the team and care at Mill View. To reassure you, the bedlinen is changed for your mother twice a week, but of course, if you have any further questions or concerns about this we’d be happy to help. In...

I feel that my mother is receiving first-class care from all the staff at Mill View and we could not wish for more, during these very stressful times. Due to the Covid restrictions we have not been able to travel from Scotland for visits for the last 18 months, but have been able to still communicate with the home for updates.

Trish Banks
Trish BanksJob Title:Home Manager

I am a dual-qualified and registered adult and children’s nurse with 40 years of experience. I spent 25 years in the NHS in a variety of roles, from Registered General Nurse to Paediatric Ward Manager. I left the NHS in 2007 after completing a Level 5 Leadership and Management course in order to manage a care home.

Being a Home Manager carries huge responsibilities. You have to be a good communicator and have a passion for caring for others. However busy it gets, I take the time to walk around the home and speak with residents, relatives and colleagues. It always reminds me of what differences we're making in people’s lives. My team is amazing, and I look forward to working with them every day.

When I’m not at work, I love spending time with my husband and two rescue dogs who we adore. When I can, I also like to travel up north to see my children and grandson. But most days you’ll find me pottering in the garden or curled up with a good book.
