West Hall’s facilities, food choices and standards of cleanliness are excellent. Mum is very settled and relaxed there which gives us peace of mind.

The staff are really great and the standard of care is excellent; they even visited Mum in the hospital. I am impressed that they make time to speak to the relatives with care and consideration.

My mother is 99 1/2 years old and a survivor of four concentration camps and one Ghetto. Following a UTI she spent two weeks in hospital and came out with reduced strength and faculties. My sister and I felt it was our duty to keep her in her home of 66 years. We were wrong. Our mother feels more secure and happy at West Hall than for many months, and the kindness and professionalism of staff from day one cannot be faulted.

I am a resident of West Hall, my wife passed away in 2023 and my two sons live abroad. (one in the USA and the other in Australia).
My very close relative is my daughter who lives nearby in the area.
I am delighted with the care provided here in West Hall Care Home.

Great facilities, complete understanding of my needs.

Just wish to pass on my, and my family’s, thoughts on Mum’s care. We are very happy with all aspects of her care, and in terms of anything that arises, it is very easy to communicate, address and solve problems that arise.
This is a brief message but heartfelt as I think it’s important to recognise good things, especially as Mum was 100 the other day.

Best wishes.

I am extremely happy with the care my husband is receiving at West Hall. He is happy and has settled in well. The staff at Birch Lodge are very caring and kind and nothing is too much trouble for them. The accommodation is second to none with a lovely view over the parkland. My husband enjoys the food which is of a very high standard. A lovely place with a nice atmosphere.

My mother has been at West Hall for many years and we have always been very happy with the care she has received. It is more than care, the staff are devoted to the residents and daily go above and beyond to make sure my mother receives the best of everything. She has had Covid twice and is still thriving. I put that down to the excellent staff at West Hall.

My father stayed in Maple Lodge from January to May and I was delighted with the care he received during this time. The facilities were first class including the rooms, the beautiful grounds and the food, but what stands out above all this is the wonderful care, warmth and kindness shown by every member of staff. I was nervous about Dad moving but he settled quickly and felt at home. I witnessed the banter between dad and the carers which was lovely to see. The team really do care for the residents and go out of their way to make their stay happy and fun. I also got to know the managers and teams of the other lodges who were also wonderful. I cannot recommend West Hall enough for looking after my dad so wonderfully - and the team quickly became part of dads extended family.

I have nothing but positive things to say about Birch Lodge in West Hall. They have exceptional care of my friend, treating her like family. Without their dedicated and compassionate care, I can't imagine what would have happened to her. The team here is truly remarkable and I couldn't be more grateful for their outstanding support.

The environment is clean and positive - my dad struggles to see that he needs care and wants to go home. The staff have worked well with him, helping to get the most out of the time he has spent here. His main problem is that he has to pay for the care but that is no reflection on the quality of care and support.

This is a wonderful care home. I can't come often because I live in the South of France. My sister is lucky, there are a lot of people among the staff who speak fluent French. When something is wrong with her somebody calls me and once a week I have a little talk with her, she is often in the lovely garden when the weather is ok. It's really a good place for old people.

We were lucky enough to be recommended to this care home by a local NHS worker, and we cannot praise West Hall and the staff and team highly enough. Since my mum moved in, she has received the compassionate care and support she needs with her ongoing dementia struggles. When we visit, we always find her to be happy and comfortable. The team, both on the ground and in management, are empathetic to each individual's care needs and always strives to offer stimulation daily whether that be through the activities they provide or the one-to-one interaction. We, as a family, are very happy knowing that Mum is in good hands. Thank you.

From the moment I was shown around West Hall and met some of the staff I knew it was the right place for my dad. He was very reluctant to leave his flat but he just couldn't live on his own anymore. He moved into Maple Lodge before Christmas and is settling very well. the staff and care is fantastic and he loves walking around the beautiful grounds. Thank you!

Paula Rifai
Paula RifaiJob Title:General ManagerJoined: 2025

I’m writing to introduce myself as the new General Manager of West Hall. I have had the privilege of working in the care sector for the past 35 years, and during this time, I have grown both professionally and personally. My journey started as a Carer, and through dedication and passion, I advanced to Senior Carer, Head of Care, Deputy Manager, and Acting Manager, before ultimately becoming a Registered Manager. For the past 26 years, I have been a Registered Manager with various care companies, where I have had the opportunity to achieve outstanding results, including two excellent outcomes and a "Good" rating with an Outstanding "Well Led" outcome in my previous care home.

Throughout my career, I’ve embraced every opportunity to enhance my skills and qualifications, ensuring that I meet the evolving standards and regulations required for this role. I joined Anchor in January 2023 as the Registered Care Home Manager for Moore Place, where I was thrilled to lead the team to achieve the top score of 10 on independent website carehome.co.uk. Our hard work paid off when Moore Place was ranked among the Top 20 Care Homes in the South East in 2024.

I am excited to take on the role of General Manager for West Hall. I am looking forward to working with the dedicated team here, getting to know the residents and their families, and leading West Hall to new heights. My vision is to work collaboratively with everyone, ensuring that we provide the highest standard of care and continue to thrive as a home.

Gary Dunn
Gary DunnJob Title:Deputy General ManagerJoined: 2025

It is my privilege to introduce myself as your new Deputy General Manager of West Hall. I have been working in the care sector for the past 10 years with my journey starting in my hometown of Swindon, where I worked in domiciliary care while maintaining the CQC Outstanding rating.

The wealth of experience and knowledge gained led me to continue with my passion to work within this sector. I moved to Surrey in 2019 and gained a position within Anchor as Team Leader at Moore Place. Throughout this time, I have seen many changes, working with a talented, and passionate team which we ensured Moore Place was recognised as a CQC “Good” rated care home in 2022 and Top 20 Care Home for the South East in 2024. For the past 12 months I have been in an Acting Deputy Manager role, successfully overseeing operational changes and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.

This new chapter in my career at West Hall is an exciting opportunity, not only to work alongside such an outstanding team but also establishing a good rapport with residents and families alike.

I look forward to meeting you all and to continue the success of West Hall.

Sophie Waite
Sophie WaiteJob Title:Wellbeing ManagerJoined: 2025

I joined West Hall as the Wellbeing Manager in April 2025, and I’m thrilled to be part of such an incredible team. I graduated with a Drama degree in 2014 and began my career in care in February 2018. Since then, I’ve worked with a few different care providers, gaining valuable experience along the way. I truly believe I have the best job and have never looked back.

In addition to my experience, I commission the activities department for a new build care home, building close relationships with residents and their families, and ensuring the activity programme was designed to best support residents’ wellbeing and engagement.

During my time in care, I’ve been able to apply my creative skills to develop engaging and inclusive activity programmes. I’ve planned and organised a wide range of events and activities, including summer parties, Bonfire Night celebrations, archery sessions, Cognitive Stimulation Therapy sessions for residents living with dementia, and a unique ‘12 Weeks Around the World’ programme where residents virtually explore different countries through their culture, food, music, and traditions.

I’m passionate about delivering one-to-one activities and engagement to ensure we meet every resident’s needs, especially creating programmes tailored for those living with dementia. The most rewarding part of my role is building personal connections with residents and their families, which allows me to tailor activities that reflect the interests and preferences of everyone living in the home.

Mark Wren
Mark WrenJob Title:Services ManagerJoined: 2017

I am the Services Manager at Anchor West Hall and have been in this role since the beginning of January 2024, overseeing several departments which include catering, housekeeping, maintenance and activities. Supporting my colleagues and interacting with the residents here are the highlights of my day, and I couldn’t ask for a more picturesque location to work in; the manor house and grounds of West Hall are truly exquisite.

Overseeing the Hospitality and services of the home gives me the opportunity to work collaboratively with each head of department, ensuring that West Hall does not just meet the needs of the residents, but exceeds them every day by providing the level of care and service that our CQC rating of ‘Outstanding’ truly deserves.
