West Hall

Amazing place with incredible, understanding, caring staff who take every step to help ensure residents are very well looked after and feel safe. Every single member of staff seems to truly try and make this the best possible place for people to live in.

This is a wonderful care home. I can't come often because I live in the South of France. My sister is lucky, there are a lot of people among the staff who speak fluent French. When something is wrong with her somebody calls me and once a week I have a little talk with her, she is often in the lovely garden when the weather is ok. It's really a good place for old people.

We were lucky enough to be recommended to this care home by a local NHS worker, and we cannot praise West Hall and the staff and team highly enough. Since my mum moved in, she has received the compassionate care and support she needs with her ongoing dementia struggles. When we visit, we always find her to be happy and comfortable. The team, both on the ground and in management, are empathetic to each individual's care needs and always strives to offer stimulation daily whether that be through the activities they provide or the one-to-one interaction. We, as a family, are very happy knowing that Mum is in good hands. Thank you.

From the moment I was shown around West Hall and met some of the staff I knew it was the right place for my dad. He was very reluctant to leave his flat but he just couldn't live on his own anymore. He moved into Maple Lodge before Christmas and is settling very well. the staff and care is fantastic and he loves walking around the beautiful grounds. Thank you!

The manager is good, and I can't fault any of his team. Mum was particularly fond of certain members of staff, who all went above and beyond with their care, especially with her end-of-life management and were a big support to both myself and my sister. Thank you all!

From the very first second we entered West Hall, we were met with a smiling, welcoming person at reception. The happy welcome there continued upon our meeting with the staff of Birch Lodge, who have been magnificent in looking after my wife over the last three weeks. Their professional yet caring attitude towards her was heartwarming, and I knew on that first day that she was in safe hands and had no worries with her staying in Birch Lodge, West Hall.

The environment is also very good.

My father came in for respite care. We were impressed with the whole facility. The bedroom was well-appointed and all the staff were very kind, caring and welcoming.

From the day my husband came to West Hall, I have been really impressed with the kindness and dignity with which he has been treated. All the staff are so understanding and have done everything they can to help him settle in. All our children have now visited and the kindness and care that their father has shown have set their minds at rest. The outstanding rating given to West Hall is very well deserved. My husband's bedroom is bright and cheerful and along with the bathroom is kept beautifully clean. The public rooms are bright and welcoming and the meals are lovely.

West Hall is a wonderful care home. The staff are exceptional, they care for my father like he is one of their family. He is well looked after, cared for with love, fed great meals and treated with love and respect. As a relative, nothing is too much trouble. We are extremely grateful for the wonderful care Dad receives. Thank you!

The staff at Birch Lodge are always kind, thoughtful and patient and always treat their residents with dignity, however difficult the circumstances. The lodge always feels like a happy place. West Hall has exceptionally good rooms that are always clean, well ventilated and comfortable and have good views over the extensive grounds. Residents have two or three options at meal times and fruit and snacks are available all day, the afternoon tea cakes are baked on-site and are always delicious. Mum is content and happy and so are we!

West Hall has provided fantastic care for my dad for the last four years, throughout Covid and after. They are unfailingly kind and caring. I think one of the things that has impressed me most is their thoughtful approach to drugs, minimising drug use and keeping it under review.

My mum has been living in West Hall Care Home for a year now and she has been cared for with love and respect and treated with dignity throughout this time. The staff are amazing and they are what makes Birch Lodge so special. An incredible Lodge Manager who leads a professional, cheerful, approachable and loving team of staff each of whom knows my mum well no matter which floor they work on. The team are able to judge Mum's mood and cheer her up with a laugh and a joke or reassure her with a hug, a chat and a cup of tea. Birch Lodge and all who work there are outstanding people who have become part of our family. I often chat with the housekeepers, chefs, receptionists and facilities staff who are equally wonderful and caring. No member of staff ever walks past me without saying hello and giving me a smile even if we don't know each other. West Hall is a happy place to visit, to live and obviously to work with lots of activities and outings. I highly recommend West Hall.

As far as I can see the staff at West Hall take care of residents very well.

The staff are wonderful and so friendly every time we visit. They are so hard-working and nothing is too much trouble. We are so pleased they are looking after my sister. So a big thank you to everyone at West Hall.

In the year that we have been with West Hall, we have been delighted and comforted by the diligent care, commitment and dedication shown to my mother. The support not only for Mother but for us as her family has been wonderful. We are very grateful.

I wanted to pass on a big thank you to all the staff who made my father’s 98th birthday party in the Red Room very special. I’m sure he really enjoyed himself along with the lager. The food was excellent with a beautiful afternoon tea of fresh sandwiches, scones with cream and jam (or jam and cream) and the birthday cake was lovely, thank you to the chef. A special thanks to the staff who popped in occasionally just to make sure we had all we needed. A special day enjoyed by all.

I am being very well looked after. The staff are excellent and will do anything for you. Food is to a very high standard, although quite repetitive. I do not find enough to do, but the staff do try hard to occupy residents.

The staff are all very friendly and helpful at all times. Food is as good as one would expect. There is plenty of space in the room provided for clothes etc. Toilet and bathing - the shower is excellent. The grounds afford nice long walks on lovely grounds by a lovely river. All in all very good value.

My father who has severe dementia has lived here for the last three and a half years. The care has been excellent. He is happy and has been looked after extremely well. Highly recommended!
