The manager is good, and I can't fault any of his team. Mum was particularly fond of certain members of staff, who all went above and beyond with their care, especially with her end-of-life management and were a big support to both myself and my sister. Thank you all!

From the very first second we entered West Hall, we were met with a smiling, welcoming person at reception. The happy welcome there continued upon our meeting with the staff of Birch Lodge, who have been magnificent in looking after my wife over the last three weeks. Their professional yet caring attitude towards her was heartwarming, and I knew on that first day that she was in safe hands and had no worries with her staying in Birch Lodge, West Hall.

From the day my husband came to West Hall, I have been really impressed with the kindness and dignity with which he has been treated. All the staff are so understanding and have done everything they can to help him settle in. All our children have now visited and the kindness and care that their father has shown have set their minds at rest. The outstanding rating given to West Hall is very well deserved. My husband's bedroom is bright and cheerful and along with the bathroom is kept beautifully clean. The public rooms are bright and welcoming and the meals are lovely.

West Hall is a wonderful care home. The staff are exceptional, they care for my father like he is one of their family. He is well looked after, cared for with love, fed great meals and treated with love and respect. As a relative, nothing is too much trouble. We are extremely grateful for the wonderful care Dad receives. Thank you!

The staff at Birch Lodge are always kind, thoughtful and patient and always treat their residents with dignity, however difficult the circumstances. The lodge always feels like a happy place. West Hall has exceptionally good rooms that are always clean, well ventilated and comfortable and have good views over the extensive grounds. Residents have two or three options at meal times and fruit and snacks are available all day, the afternoon tea cakes are baked on-site and are always delicious. Mum is content and happy and so are we!

West Hall has provided fantastic care for my dad for the last four years, throughout Covid and after. They are unfailingly kind and caring. I think one of the things that has impressed me most is their thoughtful approach to drugs, minimising drug use and keeping it under review.
Thank you for taking the time to review West Hall and we are pleased you rate our overall experience as excellent. I will ensure that your kind comments are passed on to my team. Our care colleagues support our residents appropriately with their medication, as required.
My mum has been living in West Hall Care Home for a year now and she has been cared for with love and respect and treated with dignity throughout this time. The staff are amazing and they are what makes Birch Lodge so special. An incredible Lodge Manager who leads a professional, cheerful, approachable and loving team of staff each of whom knows my mum well no matter which floor they work on. The team are able to judge Mum's mood and cheer her up with a laugh and a joke or reassure her with a hug, a chat and a cup of tea. Birch Lodge and all who work there are outstanding people who have become part of our family. I often chat with the housekeepers, chefs, receptionists and facilities staff who are equally wonderful and caring. No member of staff ever walks past me without saying hello and giving me a smile even if we don't know each other. West Hall is a happy place to visit, to live and obviously to work with lots of activities and outings. I highly recommend West Hall.

I wanted to pass on a big thank you to all the staff who made my father’s 98th birthday party in the Red Room very special. I’m sure he really enjoyed himself along with the lager. The food was excellent with a beautiful afternoon tea of fresh sandwiches, scones with cream and jam (or jam and cream) and the birthday cake was lovely, thank you to the chef. A special thanks to the staff who popped in occasionally just to make sure we had all we needed. A special day enjoyed by all.

I am being very well looked after. The staff are excellent and will do anything for you. Food is to a very high standard, although quite repetitive. I do not find enough to do, but the staff do try hard to occupy residents.

My father who has severe dementia has lived here for the last three and a half years. The care has been excellent. He is happy and has been looked after extremely well. Highly recommended!
Exceptional care in a great environment. My mother is quite a challenge and the home has always coped with everything she has thrown at them!
The manager and staff of West Hall, and more specifically Birch Lodge, couldn't have provided a more caring, stimulating or empathetic environment for my father to live in. Their understanding of the needs of a person living with dementia has enabled my father to live out his final years with dignity and in comfort. We can't thank them enough and would highly recommend Birch Lodge.
The Oak Lodge team have done all they can to ensure they are meeting the needs of our aunt. The transition from moving from her own home to West Hall has been well managed. The team are supportive and responsive to her needs. The maintenance team ensured that pictures were hanging and other changes were made to the room which helped our aunt settle with familiar possessions around her.
My hat goes off to all the staff in Maple Lodge for the care and concern that they have given and continue to give my father. They are attentive, patient and extremely helpful to us as a family. Thank you all so very much.

Meet the Team (5)

I’m writing to introduce myself as the new General Manager of West Hall. I have had the privilege of working in the care sector for the past 35 years, and during this time, I have grown both professionally and personally. My journey started as a Carer, and through dedication and passion, I advanced to Senior Carer, Head of Care, Deputy Manager, and Acting Manager, before ultimately becoming a Registered Manager. For the past 26 years, I have been a Registered Manager with various care companies, where I have had the opportunity to achieve outstanding results, including two excellent outcomes and a "Good" rating with an Outstanding "Well Led" outcome in my previous care home.
Throughout my career, I’ve embraced every opportunity to enhance my skills and qualifications, ensuring that I meet the evolving standards and regulations required for this role. I joined Anchor in January 2023 as the Registered Care Home Manager for Moore Place, where I was thrilled to lead the team to achieve the top score of 10 on independent website carehome.co.uk. Our hard work paid off when Moore Place was ranked among the Top 20 Care Homes in the South East in 2024.
I am excited to take on the role of General Manager for West Hall. I am looking forward to working with the dedicated team here, getting to know the residents and their families, and leading West Hall to new heights. My vision is to work collaboratively with everyone, ensuring that we provide the highest standard of care and continue to thrive as a home.

It is my privilege to introduce myself as your new Deputy General Manager of West Hall. I have been working in the care sector for the past 10 years with my journey starting in my hometown of Swindon, where I worked in domiciliary care while maintaining the CQC Outstanding rating.
The wealth of experience and knowledge gained led me to continue with my passion to work within this sector. I moved to Surrey in 2019 and gained a position within Anchor as Team Leader at Moore Place. Throughout this time, I have seen many changes, working with a talented, and passionate team which we ensured Moore Place was recognised as a CQC “Good” rated care home in 2022 and Top 20 Care Home for the South East in 2024. For the past 12 months I have been in an Acting Deputy Manager role, successfully overseeing operational changes and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.
This new chapter in my career at West Hall is an exciting opportunity, not only to work alongside such an outstanding team but also establishing a good rapport with residents and families alike.
I look forward to meeting you all and to continue the success of West Hall.

I joined West Hall as the Wellbeing Manager in April 2025, and I’m thrilled to be part of such an incredible team. I graduated with a Drama degree in 2014 and began my career in care in February 2018. Since then, I’ve worked with a few different care providers, gaining valuable experience along the way. I truly believe I have the best job and have never looked back.
In addition to my experience, I commission the activities department for a new build care home, building close relationships with residents and their families, and ensuring the activity programme was designed to best support residents’ wellbeing and engagement.
During my time in care, I’ve been able to apply my creative skills to develop engaging and inclusive activity programmes. I’ve planned and organised a wide range of events and activities, including summer parties, Bonfire Night celebrations, archery sessions, Cognitive Stimulation Therapy sessions for residents living with dementia, and a unique ‘12 Weeks Around the World’ programme where residents virtually explore different countries through their culture, food, music, and traditions.
I’m passionate about delivering one-to-one activities and engagement to ensure we meet every resident’s needs, especially creating programmes tailored for those living with dementia. The most rewarding part of my role is building personal connections with residents and their families, which allows me to tailor activities that reflect the interests and preferences of everyone living in the home.

I am the Services Manager at Anchor West Hall and have been in this role since the beginning of January 2024, overseeing several departments which include catering, housekeeping, maintenance and activities. Supporting my colleagues and interacting with the residents here are the highlights of my day, and I couldn’t ask for a more picturesque location to work in; the manor house and grounds of West Hall are truly exquisite.
Overseeing the Hospitality and services of the home gives me the opportunity to work collaboratively with each head of department, ensuring that West Hall does not just meet the needs of the residents, but exceeds them every day by providing the level of care and service that our CQC rating of ‘Outstanding’ truly deserves.

With over 19 years of dedicated service at Anchor, I am proud to have been part of a passionate team that has achieved consecutive CQC Outstanding ratings. My career has been rooted in a strong commitment to excellence, integrity, and a genuine passion for improving the lives of others.
As Lodge Manager, I focus on creating a safe, supportive, and enriching environment for residents where their wellbeing, dignity, and individual needs are at the heart of everything we do. I believe in building strong, trusting relationships not only with residents and their families, but also with the dedicated team I lead. I strive to nurture a positive culture where colleagues feel valued, empowered, and inspired to deliver exceptional care every day.
With a background in Biomedical Science and formal leadership training, I bring a thoughtful and analytical approach to management. I pride myself on being reliable, ambitious, and deeply motivated by the impact we can have on people's lives, making every day matter for those we care for.
