My husband is a full-time resident with dementia. I have been pleased that there are many activities. He is cared for with kindness. Always looking smart plus he enjoys his meals.

My aunt came as a respite user and we have been have been very pleased with everything at Knebworth from the time she initially joined, to her movement to become a permanent resident. The care and support offered by the staff has been tremendous, particularly as she has had to attend a number of external
medical appointments. I cannot thank the staff enough for the easy transition and the support we have been given.

What a happy, friendly environment. Staff fantastic, helpful and supportive. We would like to thank the lifestyle coordinator and two other staff members in particular for their kindness and support during my wife's stay. One piece of advice that would have been helpful is about medication, it must
be bought in in its prescribed box. Cannot fault people, service, food and environment.

I have recently moved to Knebworth Care Home from my apartment where I was living alone with support from my family since my husband passed away. All I can say that the whole experience at Knebworth Care Home has been perfect for me. The staff are wonderful, my room is lovely. I feel the care I am getting

My mother moved in in September so she has been there for six months. She is very happy, I'm pleased to say. She loves the staff, has made friends with other residents and is joining in some of the activities, especially those that involve going out. Her room is home-from-home, and she was able to surround
herself with her belongings and photos. We are so happy and relieved she is there!

Mum was only in Knebworth Care Home for four and a half weeks before she sadly died earlier this week at the age of 90. She arrived directly from hospital and from the moment she arrived we all felt a sense of relief - Mum included I think even though she was disappointed to not be at home. Everyone
was so welcoming and eager to make Mum comfortable. I know it wasn't easy for the staff with Mum's neck injury but they went out of their way to settle her and find comfortable positions. We all felt comfortable leaving her in their care when we left after each visit. I did have to double park a couple of times but the signing-in book with reg number worked and if I did double park I always let the receptionist know it was me so they knew who to go to without wasting time. Mum didn't eat so can't rate. Thank you so much everyone. Your kindness will always be remembered by me, my Dad and the family during this upsetting time. I would highly recommend KCH if you want your loved ones to be cared for in a friendly caring environment.

A friend of mine has been resident at Knebworth Care Home for a while now. It's not an easy time for my friend but the staff have made the experience second to none. The staff, facilities and food are excellent. The residents are cared for with such empathy that fosters a level of dignity that is insurmountable
in my opinion. I hope if I ever need similar services I'll be provided with those anywhere close to as good as I've observed at Knebworth.

Dad is very well looked after, NHS referrals for an occupational therapist and speech and language - still waiting six weeks after admittance. The staff are chasing this. Kind staff, not good experience at the hospital so a relief - no one shouts and shoves him! Can't really comment on activities as
Dad is currently not allowed out of bed to experience any. The food is currently puree so he isn't keen - having loved food before, again this is down to NHS referral, not the staff.

Overall really pleased with the support and care Mum gets. She often complains that meals are too spicy, but when we visit she usually manages to eat everything!
The work staff are wonderful and keep informed with any ongoing issues etc. and ask for our input.
Mum is hoisted and spends a lot of time
in bed (her choice). I have to say that she has never had a bedsore and that is a testament to their nursing procedures and skin care regimes. Nothing is too much trouble for the staff, but they need more staff.

Overall excellent care and support. Our mother is treated well by the staff and interacts with them when she is able. Our only issue would be the ability to find a parking space.

Mum has been in Knebworth since the end of March 2023 after suffering a severe stroke in December 2022. The entire team at Knebworth, from the person that opens the door for you, the customer care team, the cleaning and kitchen staff and the carers and the nurses, go above and beyond on a daily basis.
They do care. They are incredibly kind and treat Mum with the greatest of care, respect and dignity, which is so important for her. Mum can't talk and the team take time with her to understand what she needs. With all the hard work, Mum is now getting out of bed for a few hours a day and the change of scenery has made a massive difference to her. We cannot thank and praise the team highly enough. It's never easy to be in this situation, but I know Mum is in the best place and being so well looked after.

I have always found the staff pleasant, polite and very helpful. They always say "hello" to me and my mum when we are passing them, going out or coming back from a visit outside. The room is clean and tidy, and Mum seems very happy and comfortable within. The communal space is welcoming and often has
a film or music playing, which makes for a nice environment.

Current Review Score: 9.8 (9.754)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.8 (9.754) out of 10 for Knebworth is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 29 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 29 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.754 for Knebworth is calculated as follows: ( (270 Excellents x 5) + (60 Goods x 4) + (12 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 342 Ratings = 4.754
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Knebworth is based on 29 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 71 registered maximum number of service users is 14.2, which has been reached with 29 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
