Our mum had a 3-week respite stay here after her health and mobility had been decreasing consistently alone at home, and it brought out her social smiley old self again! She made a few friends quickly and really got on well with some of the staff too. There always seemed to be staff about to help or talk to if needs be, and they were usually happy to do so. Realistically she needs more day-to-day help like this going forward, and so if she agrees we would definitely consider Knebworth care home at the top of the list for permanent residence.

During my cousin's stay here at Knebworth the staff have always been courteous, caring and engaging during my visits and always helpful. More importantly, my cousin seemed contented here in so many ways and the care and atmosphere seemed to dispel, at least on the surface, the worries and doubts of her leaving her own home.

When our mother/nan was discharged from hospital she was completely bedridden. She was welcomed into the home by all the team. They restored her dignity by washing and dressing her everyday. They were very kind to her explaining about being hosted into a reclining chair which enabled her to sit and enjoy activities and entertainment. We have been overwhelmed by the exceptional care and support by everyone. The team made us feel welcome and showed empathy and compassion.

We will never be able to thank you all enough.

If you are considering a care home for a loved one, I would not hesitate to recommend Knebworth. What a team! My mother's care is amazing. She is so happy. What a relief that is to the whole family. The GP practice attached to the home is extremely helpful and caring. Well done.

My husband appears to have settled well and is comfortable. The staff are kind and helpful and have been good at phoning me at home if there seems to be any problems.

He always looks clean and well kept. He has become slightly more alert but is still confused at times. It would be nice if he could sit in the lounge a little more often if at all possible. I am happy with the care he is receiving up until now.

Review from Richard B (Father-in-law of Resident) published on 13 September 2021 Submitted via Website

Our son-in-law has been in the Home for 5.7 years with a terminal illness. He has been incapacitated from the start, unable to mobilise, feed himself, turn in bed, and has been treated with gentleness, respect, and care by all members of staff. He has not even had a pressure sore. The manager changed soon after he arrived and has made a tremendous difference to the efficiency and atmosphere of the Home. During the pandemic, the situation was well handled for both residents and families. Before choosing the Home we explored many others in the area and this stood out as exceptional. One test we had was whether a smell was evident on entering and at no time was that the case here. We cannot recommend Knebworth Care Home highly enough. We are thankful we found it and will miss visiting. We were made to feel part of a family. We visited several times a week and were always welcomed.

I was treated very well during my stay in Knebworth Care Home. The staff were kind and helpful. The physiotherapy was excellent and I was encouraged all the way. Owing to covid restrictions there were few activities to join in but Wimbledon on TV helped to fill the gap. There was excellent coordination between the home and my local authority Social Services so that my home was ready for me to return home to and stair rails, bath board were soon delivered and fitted and today grab rails were fitted to outside doors.

My mum was so against going into a care home but the care received from Knebworth care home totally changed her views. She feels safe, well-fed, and cared for. The staff act very professionally and with feeling. She considers herself lucky to have such a nice environment, as do we. Thank you, Knebworth.

My room was spacious and well-lit and furnished; the toilet generous and a view of railway coach roofs, very interesting to me being a railway fan. Due to my hip injury, I never left the room apart from a change on the first day. The corridor was busy outside my room and loud banging related to fire doors. I heard regular sad sounds of those in serious trouble and gave a thought to those who minister to them. I was surprised and a little disappointed that no one spoke to me of my plight as such, or had any thoughts about future treatment. At least I had a restful time and had the pleasure of meeting many of the staff and not to forget some excellent food.

Meet the Team (1)

Claudiu Lucean
Claudiu LuceanJob Title Home Manager

Hi, I’m Claudiu. I qualified as a General Nurse in 2015 in my home country of Romania. Before joining Care UK, I worked as a Deputy Manager in a 78-bed nursing home. I was impressed by Care UK’s structure and its values, which closely align with my own.

I believe a Home Manager should be reliable, proactive, supportive and a good listener. My favourite part of the day is seeing the difference our team makes to residents’ lives and knowing that we are making a positive impact every day.

One of my biggest career highlights was commissioning and registering a new care home with the CQC. I’m proudest when I see residents happy, safe and feeling part of our big family, as well as seeing team members develop and succeed.

The most important part of my role is ensuring residents are always treated with dignity and respect, while making sure team members feel listened to and supported to make a real difference to residents’ lives.

Outside of work, I enjoy football, travelling and spending time with my family.
