I am glad I chose Barchester Kingfisher Lodge Care Home, plus it's on my doorstep.
I am very grateful for all the care and support they have given to my father at this difficult time of his life.
The catering staff are very patient and offer good humour at meal times, which greatly help the residents. P.S. meals are of high standards aswell.
Very happy with the care given to my partner, who has been a resident at Barchester Kingfisher Lodge Care Home for five years.
I can only say that the nursing care was of a very good standard.
The general services (food etc) was also of a very high standard.
Many thanks to all of the staff.
Just to comment on a particular day yesterday when 'over and above' staff at Kingfisher Lodge made the visit from a cousin with autism perfect for my elderly mother. As always for Kingfisher Lodge - superb care and assistance throughout - which is very much appreciated by all of the family. It is a pleasure to be able to write such a positive report. Kingfisher Lodge deserves it.
All staff at Barchester Kingfisher Lodge Care Home carers/admin/hospitality/maintenance/nurses are excellent, nothing is too much trouble and the care is 1st class , check it out if your looking for an excellent care home, you won’t be disappointed.
I will be always grateful for the amazing care given to my father whilst he was at Kingfisher Lodge. Not only are the surrounding furnishings beautifully done but the staff are so caring and make you feel they are almost part of the family.
I visit my wife on most days, she is looked after very well. They treat me as one of the family. I can't expect any better care.
Quite happy with the treatment my wife is receiving. Unfortunately, care staff changes frequently so no time to really get to know them. However, my wife is looked after very well, with good quality and a variety of meals. Rooms are kept clean and tidy at all times.
The nurses and care staff are excellent and we are really happy. Nan just needs a bit more coaxing to do activities. I do think it is very expensive.
Brilliant service from the manager and all the staff are friendly and pleasant to talk to. Very lovely environment here clean tidy, and residents seem happy and content.
My lovely wife is being very well looked after. Room is well attended. Lovely view out of the window. Carers are excellent.
A very pleasant and well-run home.
Food was very good - care was mostly good. Biggest complaint was that the air bed had a leak, and he was on the metal base of the bed. After three hours, he got out and sat in the armchair but was shouted at to get back in bed, which he refused to do. He spent two nights in his chair because of being on the bed base for three hours, and he now has a bad back.
Thank your for taking the time to leave feedback, your comments mean a great deal to us here at Kingfisher Lodge. We take a great deal of pride in offering the very highest standards of care and support to our residents and their families, as such we are very sorry to hear that on this occasion we did not meet your expectations with this. We do hope that you will visit us again.
Our whole family is extremely pleased with the level of care that our father has received during his stay. Carers are all very professional, friendly and helpful. The management keeps the family informed about our father's health and wellbeing and advises on all required ongoing care.
Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review, your feedback and comments mean a great deal to us at Kingfisher Lodge and we will continue to strive to offer the very highest standards of care to our residents.
Everything at Kingfisher Lodge was excellent. They were difficult times because of the Covid pandemic, and my mother-in-law's medical care was problematic. No effort was spared in managing all these things. She thoroughly enjoyed the wonderful food/meals brought to her and served to her in the dining room. The last eighteen months of her long life were better for being looked after by the staff. Thank you.
Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review; your feedback means a great deal to us. We were thrilled to read your lovely comments, and we will continue to strive to offer the very best of care to our residents and their loved ones.
I remain immensely disappointed with the lack of quality nursing care and poor standards apparently allowed in the home.
Because I am being forced to move against my will, due to having severe mental health problems, the staff do not do as I have asked. I then tell them off, but the manager hates me doing this as he thinks they are "perfect" and I get into big trouble because of this and so angry!
The health, safety, and well-being of my father were not paramount or top priority. His physical care needs were ignored, leaving him in wet clothes, without his incontinence pad and he was not helped with his stoma bag. There appeared little flexibility with his dietary needs. Without a family member visiting twice a day his needs would not have been attended to, despite daily communication with staff. Wet incontinence pads were not removed. Clean towels were not provided without prompting from relatives. My father was supposed to be in respite for four weeks but his distress was so great, and the care so negligent, that as a family we withdrew him after two weeks. Communication from Kingfisher Lodge was poor, despite daily reports from relative to trained staff, and despite e-mail communication, Barchester Health has not followed their own complaints procedure. I would hate any other resident and indeed their relatives to experience this extremely poor quality of care.
Dear Alison, thank you for taking your time to write a review, we value all feedback. Following on from my email this week, please accept my sincere apologies for the delay in myself replying to you. Your complaint is very important to us and myself and the Feedback Team will be in touch with you...
I wish to thank the staff for the care, compassion and patience given to my husband who was admitted from hospital with a view to assess, sadly this did not happen as he continued to deteriorate the staff were patient attentive and keeping him safe was a priority. Special thanks to the nurse who was concerned and contacted me during the night and to the nurse and staff on duty the night when he sadly passed away. The home has a lovely welcoming feel when you go in and all the staff are friendly, happy and attentive.

Meet the Team (11)

Hello, My name is Claudia and I am General Manager at Kingfisher Lodge.
My journey in caregiving began over a decade ago. For ten years, I dedicated myself as a carer, then earned my nursing qualification in 2018. Growing up without grandparents, I've always felt a deep-seated passion for ensuring the elderly and those in need receive the utmost care and support.
At Kingfisher Lodge, I maintain a close-knit relationship with both the nursing and care staff. This collaboration is pivotal in our commitment to delivering the exceptional care our residents deserve.
Whenever you're in our home, chances are you'll spot me. Please don't hesitate to say "Hello!"

Hi, I am Shania, and I am the Acting Deputy Manager here at Kingfisher Lodge Care Centre.
I am a UK qualified Nurse from India, and I completed my 4-year Nursing degree in 2020 in Punjab, India, before coming to the UK to study for my Master’s Degree in Health Services Management at the University of Chester.
I started my career at Kingfisher Lodge as a Carer and then became a Care Practitioner while studying for my nurse’s exams here in the UK.
My dedication, ambition and passion for nursing are what drive me, and I have a thirst for knowledge that will always keep me striving to be the best advocate for our residents, staff and the services that we provide.
I believe it is crucial to have a good relationship with residents, family members and staff, so please if you see me around our home, don’t hesitate to say hello and ask me any questions you may have.

Paula is an experienced and committed carer who always gives 100% for the residents and the home.
