I am very pleased with staff. They look after my relative very well. He loves his food and he likes all the food and they cook him tea as well.
Thank you so much for your wonderful review, we are so pleased that you are really happy with the care and attention the staff provide for your brother in law. I will ensure that the staff are informed of your review and we will share your lovely comments.
We are very happy with the care my mother receives at Kingfisher Lodge and she feels very safe and well cared for. She has been very unwell these past two days and the staff could not do enough for her. She loves them all and they are very loving towards her too.
Thank you so much for your positive review of Kingfisher Lodge, we are so proud of the care staff and the loving care they provide for all of the residents in the home. It is really good of you to take the time to post this review to enable others to consider our wonderful home, it is very much...
Kingfisher Lodge is an excellent nursing home. The staff are amazing so too are the managers. Nothing is too much trouble. I would like to thank each and every member of staff for showing my dad the utmost respect and dignity during his last few weeks. Thank you.
Very kind comments, thank you. Your father was a lovely man and we are honoured to have been able to support him during this time.
Dad was at Kingfisher for about 3 weeks only and he was in for end of life care. The staff from cooks to cleaners up to senior manager were brilliant. All friendly and always available when help was needed. Emphatic at all time, supportive also at all times. I could not say thank you enough. I will always recommend Kingfisher and already have.
Thank you, Kingfisher.
Thank You for this wonderful feedback and also for the recommendation. I have shared your review with the Kingfisher Team.
Kingfisher Lodge went through a very serious decline over 2-3 years, however, in the past 10 months, there has been a good and markedly high improvement in all areas in staffing, care, attitude etc.
The atmosphere is very good with the happy staff.
Thank you for your review, the home does have a great atmosphere and fantastic views along with the dedicated staff.
I have found the staff and management courteous and kind. They care about the residents and do their best to make them comfortable.
Thank you for your kind comments about the staff I will ensure I feed this back to them.
Pleasant, welcoming, friendly environment. Activities have become more varied of late and greatly enjoyed by my father. Better rapport between my father and staff.
I am happy that you feel that the home is pleasant and friendly, and I know the staff have a genuine love for the residents of the home.
All the staff are very friendly and go the extra mile to make the patient feel welcome and cared for.
Each person is treated as an individual and personal choice is catered for be it bed rest or a food choice.
Her carers are kind and considerate and do go out of their way to make her feel 'at home'.
Many thanks for your kind comments.
The home is clean, warm and residents are well fed. The premises are in excellent condition. Staff are caring and pleasant but still need to pay attention to details.
Thank you for recognising the hard work that the staff have achieved over the last few months.
My mother moved to Kingfisher Lodge in August 2016 and the Care Home received an Unsatisfactory report from CQC the following month. I am glad to say that things have significantly improved since that time, and this has been substantiated by a further CQC inspection carried out in Spring 17 and published in June. Barchester responded to the initial report by bringing in a new Management Team and overhauling operating procedures and reviewing staff and resident relations.
I am most especially pleased to see that there is much evidence of increased openness, respect and trust between residents and all staff - including domestic, nursing, care and management. And laughter, fun and music.
I am also very pleased that the new Robin unit has been established - within the Lark Memory floor; this has brought together around a dozen of the more able and engaged residents along with a smaller body of care staff, which I believe is more stimulating and interesting for all involved.
Thank you for your very kind review of Kingfisher Lodge. It is much appreciated and I will pass this on to the team.
Seems to have improved significantly since the introduction of the new management. Many visible improvements within the home. Great staff who show real empathy. It's good to see new activities introduced to and mental stimulation for the residents.
Thank you for your review. I will pass on your remarks to the staff who will be pleased that they are recognised as being 'Great and show empathy towards their residents'.
All the staff here are excellent. Nothing is too much for them, which has made my stay here very nice and homely.
Many thanks for your review of the home. The staff greatly appreciate being recognised for all their hard work.
I am very happy with my mum's care in Kingfisher Lodge, she is well looked after, the carers are very caring with her. I have no doubts when I am not there.
On behalf of the staff at Kingfisher I would like to thank you for your kind comments about the care given to your mother here at Kingfisher Lodge
My husband has been in this home for 4 years and 8 months. There have been so many changes during this time. Not to mention 10 managers. The residents need stability. It would be nice to have the same carers each day as people with dementia need to see familiar faces. His care is good, any issues I deal with them.
Thank you for your review of Kingfisher. It has been unfortunate that the home had several managers over the last few years. I agree it would be lovely to have the same carers on each day, however, they do need days off. Each unit does have core staff that work only on that unit to give...
My mother has been a resident at Barchester Kingfisher Lodge for nearly 3 years. On arrival, she was made to feel very welcome and every effort was taken to settle her in and make her feel at home. The staff were friendly and helpful, treated with respect at all times. She especially enjoyed the musical activities -visiting singers etc- and music workshops. She also loved the visits from the donkeys, birds of prey and exotic animals! Over the last couple of weeks, before she died, she was treated with exceptional care and dignity and I and the rest of the family were well looked after too.
Thank you for your lovely comments. It was a privilege to have looked after such a special lady
I enjoy my room and have a good view of the garden and the hills beyond.
Thank you very much for your kind comments about Kingfisher Lodge.

Meet the Team (11)

Hello, My name is Claudia and I am General Manager at Kingfisher Lodge.
My journey in caregiving began over a decade ago. For ten years, I dedicated myself as a carer, then earned my nursing qualification in 2018. Growing up without grandparents, I've always felt a deep-seated passion for ensuring the elderly and those in need receive the utmost care and support.
At Kingfisher Lodge, I maintain a close-knit relationship with both the nursing and care staff. This collaboration is pivotal in our commitment to delivering the exceptional care our residents deserve.
Whenever you're in our home, chances are you'll spot me. Please don't hesitate to say "Hello!"

Hi, I am Shania, and I am the Acting Deputy Manager here at Kingfisher Lodge Care Centre.
I am a UK qualified Nurse from India, and I completed my 4-year Nursing degree in 2020 in Punjab, India, before coming to the UK to study for my Master’s Degree in Health Services Management at the University of Chester.
I started my career at Kingfisher Lodge as a Carer and then became a Care Practitioner while studying for my nurse’s exams here in the UK.
My dedication, ambition and passion for nursing are what drive me, and I have a thirst for knowledge that will always keep me striving to be the best advocate for our residents, staff and the services that we provide.
I believe it is crucial to have a good relationship with residents, family members and staff, so please if you see me around our home, don’t hesitate to say hello and ask me any questions you may have.

Fiona is responsible for the administration of the home and works closely with the General Manager and Heads of Departments to ensure the smooth running of Kingfisher Lodge. Fiona is supported by two other members of her team, Wendy and Julie.
Fiona has been with Kingfisher Lodge since March 2013 and is a very committed member of the management team and brings a wealth of administration experience from her previous role of working for the Local Authority.

Esther is our nurse on our Memory Lane. Working with residents with dementia is Esther's speciality. Her wonderful calming nature and her extremely hard-working attitude is an assets to Kingfisher Lodge. Esther's relationship with residents and their families is genuinely special and always goes above and beyond to create a safe and enriched environment for all her residents.

My role is to ensure that we maintain the whole home making sure it is a safe and warm environment. We are here for the residents and the team here at Kingfisher and are always happy to help.

George is an amazing and compassionate Lead Activities Co-ordinator, regularly going over and beyond for all the residents at Kingfisher Lodge.

My name is Georgiana, and I recently started my journey with Barchester as Head of Housekeeping. I absolutely love working at Kingfisher Lodge Care Centre, and I take great pride in making the home clean, welcoming, and comfortable for our residents, visitors, and team. I am committed to maintaining the high standards that make this home such a special place.

Mandy joined Kingfisher in February 2016. She is loved by all residents and has great communication skills with families. Everyone loves Mandy’s stories about Wales and she often tells residents long tales from the valleys. Mandy always enjoys helping and encouraging residents to join activities or even just sit in the garden for a while.

Paula is an experienced and committed carer who always gives 100% for the residents and the home.

Hi, I am Zena and I am a hostess here at Kingfisher Lodge, and I am always happy to help.

She enjoys this role as she loves to interact with the family and friends of the residents.
