My mum was admitted to St James Court after she had a fall at home and was no longer safe to be there. It was such a difficult decision but I can honestly say from the moment we first went to now, I can't praise the staff enough. Their kindness and understanding have been outstanding and have helped
beyond words. The home is immaculate and the food looks lovely. Every effort is made to make it a home-from-home. Management is approachable and professional and they listen, nothing is too much trouble and the carers are absolute gems. I can't thank them enough.

Having looked around several care homes for my mum, I knew this was the one. I was greeted warmly and openly by all the management and felt a very positive and caring vibe as I was shown around. I haven't been disappointed! My mum is respected and considered at all times with care and dignity. The staff

Eleven months ago, we, as a family, were told to be prepared for the worst as our 94-year-old mum might not make it through the night. Now look at her!! She looks younger than she did five years ago, and her health has completely changed. This is all down to the wonderful team at St James’. It was the
most difficult decision I have ever had to make regarding my mum going into a care home, but I have no regrets or reservations. All the staff here, from the manager to the cleaners, are heroes. Friendly yet professional, caring in a genuine way, have pride in what they do and very approachable. There are no problems here because should you bring anything to their attention, it is dealt with. We sleep very easy at night knowing Mum is kept clean, warm, well fed and, just as importantly, treated as an individual, enabling her to make her own decisions when appropriate. We wouldn’t want her anywhere else.

This care home is excellent. All the staff are very friendly and caring. Always have the highest standard of making sure all are showered and clean. I have absolutely no issues at all. I know my mum is well cared for, and that gives us all peace of mind. There are always activities that the residents

St James Court is a wonderful care home. They go above and beyond for my mum. My mum came into St James Court three years ago with dementia, and all the staff are very kind, helpful and caring.

My dad has been a resident at St James Court for over 12 months now following his dementia diagnosis. I can’t speak highly enough of the care he is receiving under difficult circumstances and complex care when he first arrived.
We had experienced a few other care homes, but nothing really compared
to St James. The care staff are outstanding, always working super hard to give the best care possible. He has settled really well, which is always a good sign.
We have always been made welcome when visiting and always had positive experiences with all the staff who work tirelessly to provide a great experience.

Mum is currently a permanent resident at St James and has been since August 2023. She had a 2 week respite stay in July 2023 after having looked at 3 other care homes which were not a patch on St James.
From walking through the door the place is airy, bright and clean. Mum's room is bright and spotlessly
cleaned and her laundry is done and returned on a daily basis. The food is of a high quality and standard with a choice at each sitting which she can have in her room or dining room. The lounges are decorated beautifully and there are activities or entertainment for the residents every day of the week (Mum has her hair done weekly by the visiting hairdresser). The carers who look after my mum are diamonds - I can never thank them enough for the way they take care of her each day - no matter which shift is on they are equally compassionate, friendly, funny and respectful towards her. All of the team at St James are to be commended for the work they do, in every department.

My parents came to St James Court in May 2023. St James Court was recommended to us, and they were able to accommodate Mum and Dad in adjoining rooms. Unfortunately, respite care quite quickly turned into long-term care as my mum’s needs increased and my dad’s health began to deteriorate. Sadly, he
passed away just seven weeks after arriving at St James Court.
The care and compassion shown in the seven weeks leading up to the death of my dad was first-class. This high level of care continued afterwards for my mum, who was dealing with grief after losing her husband of 66 years, her own health conditions and coming to terms with being in a strange environment.
Nothing is too much trouble, from preparing simple meals on request to accompanied visits to the dentist. All staff, without exception, are wonderfully caring. Management always reacts positively to requests, for example, to seek solutions to keep Mum safe as she tries to do things for herself and puts herself at risk of falling.

St James carefully cared for my late grandfather through to the very end. As I and my family live over 200 miles away in South Wales, it wasn’t the easiest trip getting to see my grandfather, but on every occasion not only did they display the the upmost care and kindness to my grandfather, but also
myself and my family. Going beyond anything they needed to, they provided hot meals to us with no expectation of payment or reimbursement. This small act of kindness made a tremendous difference to our family during this period of grief.
I cannot express my gratitude to all the staff, including front of house, for being front line in terms of delivering care, but also to all the staff that you don’t see who support your family’s loved ones during their time there. Before I go, from the bottom of my heart I would again like to thank all the staff that supported my grandfather and my family, thank you.

My father went to St James Care Home, after always saying never to put him in a care home ('dreadful places'). What a turnaround, from day one he was treated like royalty. The staff were fantastic, from care staff to cleaners and kitchen staff. They were so kind and attentive, not only to Dad but me
too, always checking I was coping with the situation (Dad was here for end of life care). The last five weeks were the best he had over the last nine months or so. He adored the home and more so the staff, which in turn made my final days with Dad a lot less stressful. I can’t thank you all enough and, in time, if I have to go in a home, I’ve told my sons this is the place for me.

At first, I was very worried about having to go into residential care, but I definitely did not need to worry. The staff are wonderful, caring and compassionate. Nothing was too much trouble. My only concern was the food, but that was rectified straight away. The management was fantastic, and I was

I simply cannot thank the staff of St James enough for taking care of Dad. Resident now for 4-years, despite some health issues, he is one very happy gentleman often referring to St James as "being on a cruise ship!". My mum was in for a week's respite whilst we were away. Her care requirements were discussed with us extensively prior to her stay. This put us at ease and assured us she would have the best care during her stay. Staff were helpful and informative when we phoned to see how my mum was getting on and

I don't normally write reviews, but feel compelled to do so.
My mother spent a few weeks at St James Court rehabilitating because of a fall at home, resulting in her breaking her arm and then spending a couple of weeks in hospital. 98-years-old, and it was her first pot, and hopefully, she won't be
doing it again. The time she spent at St James Court - she was like a new woman.
Always smiling and praising the staff, the place is spotless.
As a family, we were anxious that she was going into a care home. Since my father died 30-years ago, she had always been independent. We need not have worried. The facilities at St James Court are superb. The staff couldn't do enough for her while she was there and very caring. My mother even had her hair done several times. This meant alot to us as a family, as we knew from the day we visited that she would be in good hands, and we were right. When she was finally able to go home, she had even put weight on.

My father going into care was the last resort; St James was chosen based on their reviews and closeness for visits. Arriving during the pandemic (April 2021), meant initial contact was limited to window visits only, and it was troubling to be advised that even these should have been restricted to weekdays/certain
hours - no idea why this would have been necessary and only made a hard time even harder. Since face to face visits and outside trips are now possible, this has improved, and my father lives for those times.
Staff, on the whole, are wonderful with him and us - they know him as an individual and really do care for and about him. They have helped us to make his room more personable, however, at times, it is very 'busy' and untidy, and more attention could be given to daily tidying.
Meals I am told on the whole are good, (although there was a recent period of poor quality meals), it is perhaps just a need to encourage more socialising that is needed as days can be very long where visits are limited.
