My father has received excellent care over the past month, in fact for the whole time he has been here - 18 months. He is treated with respect and kindness at all times. He has just celebrated his 100th birthday. The staff helped us give him a wonderful birthday and it's thanks to the care he has received at Darwin Court that he has reached this milestone. I am very grateful to all the staff here for their kindness and consideration.

I cannot speak highly enough about the care and support provided by this care home. From the moment we first visited, the staff made us feel welcome, reassured, and confident that our loved one would be in safe and caring hands. Moving into residential care is never an easy decision for a family, but the kindness, patience, and professionalism shown by everyone here made the transition so much easier.

The carers are truly compassionate and treat every resident with dignity and respect. They take the time to get to know each individual personally, understanding their preferences, routines, and needs. It is clear that the wellbeing and happiness of residents are always the top priority. The staff are attentive, approachable, and always willing to go the extra mile to ensure residents feel comfortable and cared for.

The home itself is clean, warm, and welcoming, with a lovely atmosphere throughout. The rooms and communal areas are well maintained, creating a safe and homely environment.

Darwin Court were there when our family needed respite care for my father at short notice. From the point of initial contact, the response was extremely positive and reassuring. Ongoing, the care and consideration given to my father and our family exceeded all expectations. We felt totally confident to have Father in this safe and secure environment. All the staff are outstanding, the catering/food service beyond expectations. We visited daily and enjoyed coffee and cake with Dad in this wonderful, clean and tidy home.

During my career I helped to set up and manage fifteen care homes for the elderly. I have the POA for my cousin and when his dementia made it dangerous for him to live on his own, I investigated two homes in London, where he lived, and three homes near me. Darwin Court met my cousin's needs and his financial position. Their help with moving him was excellent.

My cousin came to Darwin Court in November 2024. He was helped to settle in with kindness and care. As a 81 year old bachelor who lived on his own and was suffering from Alzheimer's, he adapted to his new life helped by the excellent facilities and the kindness of staff. Despite this home being fully aware of the challenges my father brought thw management took my father in as a resident however he was quickly isolated by the majority of the staff (other than Mohammed, Mike & 1 or 2 others). He was never encouraged to get involved in activities or to eat in communal dinining area. On several occassions he soiled bedding or other areas & there seemed to be no urgency to clean either him or the area. On occassions we cleaned him up ourselves rather than wait for staff to come to his aid. From day one he was promised a Tv in his room but we had to supply our own despite staff sitting in a larg unused lounge watching a TV. I found onevor 2 staff to be extremely lazy with one particular carer always easy to find sat on her backside in the lounge. As soon as he showed a little agression we were told he had to leave. Ge has dementia so what did they expect? To be honest I struggle to see where the £1600 a week we were paying went.

Darwin Court is a bright and friendly place. A 'family' feel is found throughout - from the bistro next to reception into each suite. Staff and management work hard to engage both residents and their families in the many and varied events available. Staff on each wing/suite are alert to any developing health or 'mood' issues, and advise appropriate seniors, thus avoiding more deep-seated problems. A great bonus is the lovely roof garden.

Disappointing. Husband wore same clothes 3 days, mon-wed, slept in them. No shower. I had to get him to shower. There are various ways to follow up request/advice to shower. On visits he appeared lost. Saturday afternoon had coffee in lounge/foyer during which 3 staff members stood in foyer - lift opened body appeared on gurney taken to ambulance, no one had the courtesy to forewarn us. Friday confirmed with 'admin' collection on Sunday after lunch. On arrival bedlam noone appeared to know who was responsible for what - I was told all bank staff. Clothing missing requested from rude - on his phone - ignored - male nurse on two occasions Saturday. Three requests for meds took 1 and a half hours from staff another ward dealt - unable to find file - assessment papers loose under file papers, no paper to write on. Meal delayed food out - sure cold. All crockery from breakfast on unit at 1:45 pm not even clean spoon! No menus.

Darwin Court in Lichfield is a first-class care home, which is run and staffed by people with a professional and caring focus on their residents. The nursing and administrative staff are beyond reproach. I hold minor concerns about weekend staff levels and the general attention given to what may seem to be minor details, but are, in fact, matters of significance to residents and their families.
