Darwin Court Care Home - Avery Healthcare

We've been visiting my friend for a while now and finally they seem to have got it right after a lot of changes. There's a new manager and everyone seems happy. The staff are happy, the home is welcoming and the manager is always around. We really liked the home before and we love it now. Thank you everyone.

The staff were very helpful. The service at meal times was excellent and they all were very good at remembering all names, personal touch was given at all times. The meal times, at first, seemed too late for breakfast and too early for dinner (as I have had at home) but soon got used to it. My only criticism is that meals were variable in quality. Most were excellent, but some were poor, such as today's lasagna.

Most of the staff are caring, dedicated people who, unfortunately, are hamstrung in what they are able to offer due to staffing levels. Do your research and be aware of the limitations before placing your loved one here.

In my opinion, more can be done in Darwin Care home as in one review all that glitters is not gold. Staff need to be trained they are dealing with dementia patients that cannot express themselves, so being deemed aggressive and problematic is not the way to address dementia as is the case at Darwin. Not the level of care we thought it would be, expected it to be or lead to believe it would be.

The staff at Darwin Court have been very professional and dedicated to looking after my wife. They have been caring and adapted to my wife's changing care needs.

Our mom was at Darwin Court Care Home for almost 2 years due to Alzheimer's and a stroke, the care she was given was exceptional, especially nearing her end-of-life care, all staff were very friendly and caring to mom and all her visitors, many thanks to all.

They have been really good at encouraging him to try and get back on his feet, making sure he follows the exercises he has been given and making sure he keeps his fluid and food intake up even though he has not felt well.

As a family, we are very relieved and happy that my father is safe and happy.

Perfect home. Warm and friendly staff and lovely food (I have been told by my uncle). Good size rooms and large bathrooms. Lots of outings and activities to go on if desired. Occupants can enjoy a homely experience and feel safe and well-looked after.

It is early days yet, but so far we are pleased with the care and the staff are very helpful and friendly.

Mother has now been in Darwin Court Care home for 8 years. The care she has had has been very good, with all the family confident that she is safe and well looked after. Suffering from dementia and not remembering or recognising the family, this is so important for us. We all have faith and trust in this care.

Instantly, Mum became part of the Darwin Court 'family'. During her 7 months stay, she was cared for with love, respect, dignity, time and friendship. All team members including management, admin, nurses, cooks, cleaners and more were exceptional in their care. Sadly, our beloved mum passed away in August. My sister and I have received great comfort from the Darwin Court team as their genuine sadness reinforced our affirmation that Darwin Court was the best place for our beloved Mum. We do not have the words to express our eternal thanks.

The staff in my mother's unit are consistently caring, concerned and committed. The building and facilities are smart and well-maintained. When you walk into the reception area, you instantly get positive, happy vibes.

Lovely rooms and kept really clean. Everything I have asked for has been dealt with. Weekly activities programme so always seems to be something happening if residents want it. Good choice of food and plenty of it. Staff are caring, conscious of maintaining dignity and welcoming to visitors.

My father seems content in his home and we are pleased with how he is being looked after. It is pleasant surroundings, especially in warm weather where we can take Dad to the rooftop gardens. Nice cafe/socialising area also on the ground floor.

My mother has just completed a three-week period of respite at Darwin Court. In this short time, my mother's health and confidence have improved dramatically. She is eating, sleeping and communicating much better which is due completely to the care she has been given during her stay. I would have no hesitation in my mother moving in permanently Darwin Court if and when the necessity arises.

My father feels well looked after, and I have complete confidence when leaving him for periods of time.

Mom will be visiting again when we next go on holiday and will become a full-time resident at some time.

A modern, clean and nicely decorated care home with furniture and ensuite rooms. Easy chairs for resident and their visitors. Aids and detectors have been supplied for our mother to ensure and help with her safety. Staff are caring, approachable and attentive. If there is any cause for concern they will always inform us. During the week daily activities occur which help with motivation and interaction with other residents. The reception area has a lovely lounge and coffee/drinks area for families to have a catch-up. Rooftop garden to enjoy.

When mum arrived at Darwin Court Care Home she was frail, tired and feeling very low due to her ill health. She wanted to go home more than anything but her health needs prevented this. So in the start, she found it hard to be there and hid away in her room. But we found really quickly, she got to know the staff who were kind, friendly and so very nurturing. They made her feel at home and ensured they did all those little things that helped her settle into life at Darwin Court Care Home. Her health has improved 100%, she has made friends with the other residents and when we visit it feels like a real community feel which is what mum really needed. In all as a family, we couldn’t be happier and mum is now really settled in what’s only been a couple of months. I look forward to seeing her health improve even more and hearing about all the fun things she has done whilst at Darwin Court Care Home!
