We visited my husband's grandmother and although he was apprehensive to visit her in a care home, from the minute we arrived we were made to feel welcome and part of a community. I can see why people like it here so much. A lovely visit with kind staff.

The staff were very helpful. The service at meal times was excellent and they all were very good at remembering all names, personal touch was given at all times. The meal times, at first, seemed too late for breakfast and too early for dinner (as I have had at home) but soon got used to it. My only
criticism is that meals were variable in quality. Most were excellent, but some were poor, such as today's lasagna.

If your elder requires solely residential care, Darwin would probably suit. I would however caution if your loved one has dementia, this place offers more than it can deliver. Dementia is an illness that requires greater care as it progresses and presents with a variety of manifestations. It is my opinion
that Darwin is unable to provide a higher level of care required. Communication with head office is difficult and locally it is wanting.
Most of the staff are caring, dedicated people who, unfortunately, are hamstrung in what they are able to offer due to staffing levels. Do your research and be aware of the limitations before placing your loved one here.

In my opinion, more can be done in Darwin Care home as in one review all that glitters is not gold. Staff need to be trained they are dealing with dementia patients that cannot express themselves, so being deemed aggressive and problematic is not the way to address dementia as is the case at Darwin.
Not the level of care we thought it would be, expected it to be or lead to believe it would be.

My Dad has been really ill recently and his level of required care increased substantially. The staff have been great helping him and making sure he gets the care he needs.
They have kept a close eye on him in order to stop him from deteriorating further and have brought in additional health professionals
to work with them to assist him getting back to his former level of independence.
They have been really good at encouraging him to try and get back on his feet, making sure he follows the exercises he has been given and making sure he keeps his fluid and food intake up even though he has not felt well.

My sister and I visited Darwin Court Care Home (and a number of other care homes) after our mum, still vibrant and full of life at age 93, devastatingly lost her independence and required greater care. We were instantly impressed by the warm welcome, excellent facilities, beautiful accommodation and
the option of independent living with the necessary care. At this point, we decided this was the best place for Mum. She was accepted and moved in early February 2022.
Instantly, Mum became part of the Darwin Court 'family'. During her 7 months stay, she was cared for with love, respect, dignity, time and friendship. All team members including management, admin, nurses, cooks, cleaners and more were exceptional in their care. Sadly, our beloved mum passed away in August. My sister and I have received great comfort from the Darwin Court team as their genuine sadness reinforced our affirmation that Darwin Court was the best place for our beloved Mum. We do not have the words to express our eternal thanks.

Lovely rooms and kept really clean. Everything I have asked for has been dealt with. Weekly activities programme so always seems to be something happening if residents want it. Good choice of food and plenty of it. Staff are caring, conscious of maintaining dignity and welcoming to visitors.

Absolutely fantastic. Mom went to Darwin Court while we went on holiday. She spent 2 weeks there and really enjoyed her stay. She had a room with a window looking over the roof garden.
Darwin Court is a modern care home with plenty of facilities to keep residents occupied.
The staff were really helpful/attentive
and nothing was too much trouble.
Mom will be visiting again when we next go on holiday and will become a full-time resident at some time.

A modern, clean and nicely decorated care home with furniture and ensuite rooms. Easy chairs for resident and their visitors. Aids and detectors have been supplied for our mother to ensure and help with her safety. Staff are caring, approachable and attentive. If there is any cause for concern they
will always inform us. During the week daily activities occur which help with motivation and interaction with other residents. The reception area has a lovely lounge and coffee/drinks area for families to have a catch-up. Rooftop garden to enjoy.

Job Title: Home Administrator Joined: 2019

I joined the Avery Healthcare Family in 2019 having spent my whole working life in the care sector, from a retirement village to care homes.


Before joining Avery, I was an Administrator Assistant for another care provider.


After leaving school I went to college to complete my Level 2 and Level 3 in Health and Social care.


I would consider myself as kind, caring, hard worker and empathetic. In my spare time, I like to spend time with my family, read and go for walks.


I am very proud to be part of the Darwin court family.

Job Title: Home Manager Joined: 2025

Michelle has been a registered general Nurse for 24 years and worked in care homes for 22 of these. She has a passion to deliver good quality care for all of those who live at Darwin Court.
As Michelle says 'I believe a care home should be warm, welcoming and fun, not just for the residents but for the staff and visitors alike'.
