Recently Mom had a fall and I was unable to attend the home. The staff were amazing, sitting with her until paramedics arrived. Keeping in touch with me and facilitating phone calls so that I could talk to Mom. The staff packed a bag of useful items/clothing for Mom to take with her to the hospital.
Five stars excellent.

Our experience with the care my father has received since being in Darwin Court Care Home has been amazing. The staff are so welcoming but most importantly very in tune with the care and attention that is required from my father on a day-to-day basis (as every day as we know is different), nothing is
too much trouble and they make my dad feel at home and as an equal to them.

Staff at the home have been ultra help for in dealing with my mum's needs. They always provide a friendly and caring approach which really helps with keeping my mum's condition under control.

Since moving into the home, Mum has really picked up from her she was in hospital and which are the credit

for this should go to the caring and nursing teams Darwin.

Our experience using Darwin Court Care Home has been exceptionally good. Nothing is too much trouble. Any queries we have are dealt with efficiently. The staff are all so lovely and really do put the residents first. They have so many lovely activities each day that they encourage the residents to get
involved in. The home has a lovely atmosphere and everyone is welcoming no matter what time of the day you visit.

My husband's dad passed away last Saturday, 29/03/2025, at Darwin Court. The staff were very good. It was as good as it could be. They treated him with respect at all times. We were always made welcome. We cant thank you staff enough for looking after our Dad when we couldn't be there. It was a relief
to know he was in safe hands and being well looked after. I would recommend Darwin Court to anyone looking for a home from home for the last part of life. God bless you all.

I would like to give a massive shout out and thank you to Johnson Unit. Just recently, I have been spending every day with my dad and have witnessed how hard and difficult the fault routine is for the guys who work on this unit. The whole team get together remarkably well, even under stressful and intimidating
circumstances. Their care for the residents is second to none.

Since our relation took up residence in Darwin Court, over four years ago, his care has been exceptional from all levels of staff across all support functions. The staff have also taken time to build relationships with us as the family, to which clearly shows the care and compassion they all have in

Regretfully another case of "all that glistens..." I was left with the decision to choose a nursing home for my Mum, as an only child it came down to me and foolishly I chose Darwin Court. It's pretty, it's glitzy and it promises first-class care. After only seven months my Mum was taken to hospital
where it transpired that she had sustained a serious fracture, which I am told is quite unusual for someone who is bed-ridden. Of course, she was safeguarded by the hospital and as events unfolded she did not return to Darwin Court. I wasn't kept informed of the outcome of the inquiry that followed, by social workers or Darwin Court and had to telephone them to ask for details, unsurprisingly they advised that they did not know how my mother's injury had occurred. I have not received any communication from them since I collected my Mum's belongings. I have tried to contact them but they do not return calls.
Reply from Simon Dixey, Manager at Darwin Court Care Home - Avery HealthcareThank you for meeting with me Sarah, I am pleased that we were able to share all information again and answer your questions as best as possible. I am sorry that you did not get a response from head office when you called and am pleased that we were able to resolve the issue. As discussed, we will update you as soon as we hear form the local authority. Wishing you and Mum all the very best.

Current Review Score: 9.6 (9.633)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.6 (9.633) out of 10 for Darwin Court Care Home - Avery Healthcare is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.6 out of 5 from 41 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 38 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.633 for Darwin Court Care Home - Avery Healthcare is calculated as follows: ( (364 Excellents x 5) + (91 Goods x 4) + (12 Satisfactorys x 3) + (9 Poors x 2) + (9 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 485 Ratings = 4.633
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Darwin Court Care Home - Avery Healthcare is based on 38 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 112 registered maximum number of service users is 22.4, which has been reached with 38 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Before joining Avery, I was an Administrator Assistant for another care provider.

After leaving school I went to college to complete my Level 2 and Level 3 in Health and Social care.
