Darwin Court is a well-run care home and well managed.
The home is always clean and visitors are always made welcome. My wife is now settling in and she is slowing down gradually.

I say likely to recommend Darwin Court is because I am a resident of Sandwell and so are most of my friends and family.
In my opinion, Darwin Court is an excellent care home.
On my many visits, the staff have always been friendly, polite and very helpful to me. The lady I visit is being cared for
very well and the carers have shown to be genuine in their positive attitude to her well being. There are activities and social functions available and to me, this is a big bonus to the residents as it encourages them to make new friends and overcome the fear of being alone.

My father has been in Darwin Court for 2 weeks now. Our first impressions were excellent – the staff were all so friendly, from carers to concierges to office staff and activities team alike. They made my dad feel very welcome and were very keen to get to know him, nothing has been too much trouble.
I had the opportunity to write a life history so carers can talk to him about the family and his interests as well as documenting his likes and dislikes. The food has also been amazing with plenty of choices. I feel very secure in the fact that he is being extremely well looked after and is safe. I know it is early days but I feel certain that he is in the right place for his needs.

The staff of Darwin Court, Lichfield, arranged an evening for friends and family to spend a sociable time before Christmas with their resident family member. It was presented as if in a restaurant with individual tables and a warm friendly welcome by attentive staff and the chef serving excellent food
and wine to add a final touch, a very good singer provided the entertainment. My family felt they were able to relax and enjoy the occasion, which had not been possible in recent years and it was for us like turning the clock back. We wish to thank all the staff for a very enjoyable occasion and look forward to other similar events.

My wife and I are Methodist Church Pastoral Visitors for our church and our duties are to visit members who are housebound in care homes. We had the occasion to visit an elderly lady resident at Darwin Court and on entering Darwin, we were amazed and pleasantly surprised at the lovely reception area
and visitors tea room. It was spacious, well lit with natural light, beautiful and tastefully decorated.
In my working life, I travelled throughout Europe and Scandinavia and my wife and I stayed in 5* hotels which rivalled Darwin Court for excellence. The lady we visited loved the home and said it was perfect in every way, offering her all that she needed and again to a high standard. She told us that she was happy and content at Darwin and arranged to stay for a longer period than intended.
The facilities and entertainment programme were planned to entertain and stimulate the residents. Should we ever need residential care, I cannot think of any better establishment than Darwin Court.
Finally, a word about all the staff, they were courteous, always smiling, helpful and a joy to meet and speak with.

The staff are very good and friendly, although at times not enough available to hoist my husband from chair to wheelchair when I want to take him out hence we have to wait for 45 minutes or more before someone is available. Same on return.

First impression beautiful building and lots of room for those in wheelchairs and nice surroundings for family visitors. Greeted at the entrance by staff members, settled into very nice clean, spacious room. All information about my husband exchanged, plus conversation about medication and needs that
my husband relied on. Invitations each day to join in and interact in activities. The carers not only did what was needed, they spent time with him and comforted him, reassuring him when I was not about felt comfortable to leave him in their hands, and would not hesitate to recommend Darwin Court as a care home service.

I enjoy visiting Darwin Court Care Home. The staff are cheerful and genuinely care for the residents. The residents are always well dressed. They enjoy the social activities and especially the singing. I feel there is always something going on and the residents all look happy.

I think this is a super place, I really do. The care is very good, unobtrusive but you know it is there. I was so lucky to have a door onto the garden. A lovely respite stay.

I like my room very much, windows on two sides providing lots of light, large and decorated well, I particularly like the BBQ chicken and we get Vienetta which is my favourite. I really enjoy the music and movement workshop run together with the Garrick Theatre. I enjoy visiting the roof garden which
is remarkably shielded from the wind.

I think the care home is a secure and relaxing environment. I feel very safe in the home yet free to do as I wish. The management have taken care to select the best possible staff for this type of work. The home provides a good variation of activities and there is a roof garden which I enjoy. There
are excellent catering facilities. All catering staff are fully trained. There is a wide variety of food to choose from.

My room is of a beautiful size with a lovely view, I enjoy sitting on my bed watching the sunset. It's tastefully decorated, bright and homely. The two lounges are lovely and decorated beautifully. I enjoy sitting in the larger lounge when my family visit but choose the smaller lounge to sit and read
in as very cosy. The roof garden is beautiful and much enjoyed and I use it often, looking forward to the nicer weather so I can enjoy it even more. I enjoy participating in the activities provided. The fruit bowl in the dining room is a lovely idea so we can help ourselves to fresh fruit. Thank you very much.

Staff are very welcoming and caring to both my husband and family members who visit. I believe my husband receives high quality care that is specific to his needs. My mother had been in hospital for eight weeks and was agitated and confused we believe was cause by a water infection. We decided to move her when medially cleared. The friendly help and facilities have really helped her move towards recovery and indeed to back home.

Very good care generally but personal belongings not looked after and tend to go missing.
Although I know you need to employ agency staff but mostly they have no idea how to look after 1 to 1 residents and often cannot communicate in English, spending time on their mobile phones taking little notice
of the person they should be looking after.
Information from one shift to another not always made known.
The permanent staff are excellent and overall build good relationships with relatives.

I joined the Avery Healthcare Family in 2019 having spent my whole working life in the care sector, from a retirement village to care homes.


Before joining Avery, I was an Administrator Assistant for another care provider.


After leaving school I went to college to complete my Level 2 and Level 3 in Health and Social care.


I would consider myself as kind, caring, hard worker and empathetic. In my spare time, I like to spend time with my family, read and go for walks.
