A lovely, clean and spacious home with very friendly and amiable staff who are all happy to help. The food was good and varied with the menu changing every week. On the downside to my father's two-week stay, was the lift was out of order for ten days of this, so my mother was unable to visit as my father
was on the second floor.
Reply from Terri Kidd, PR Executive at Bowbridge CourtThank you for leaving these kind words for our care team at Bowbridge Court. We’re extremely proud of our care team at the home and all they do for our residents. We’re so sorry that your mum was unable to visit due to the lift being out of order, but please be assured that our maintenance team do all they can to keep our homes’ facilities in working order. My dad had to go into respite at very short notice twice. Right from the start, the office staff were so understanding and supportive - they could not have done more to help us (one, in particular, having a lot of patience with my constant questions, phone calls and emails). The second time they were
on lockdown, and they arranged for Dad to go to another of their homes (which was also very good) and then they transferred him back as soon as possible. We couldn't spend much time with Dad due to restrictions in place; however, the food seemed to be very good, and the staff were friendly and caring. My only slight criticism would be that I got the impression the staff at the weekend were a bit stretched, the one lady I saw appeared very busy, and when I picked Dad up on Monday, he looked a little dishevelled (needed a wash and shave etc). Saying that, should it ever be required on a full-time basis, I definitely would want Dad to go back to Bowbridge Court without a doubt.
Reply from Terri Kidd, PR Executive at Bowbridge CourtThank you for your review. We really appreciate you taking the time to leave such great feedback for Bowbridge Court. Our care team go above and beyond to make our residents’ transition into care stress-free, so we’re glad to know that you and your dad felt supported during this time.
Please be assured that our staffing levels are based on the needs of our residents and generally run above the required allocation. The Home Manager at Bowbridge Court would be more than happy to discuss this with you further, so please do not hesitate to contact her.

Caring and compassionate staff. It was evident the staff has spent time listening and talking to my mother in law. They appreciated the sense of humour and made her feel special. Our mother in law was comfortable and her needs were met very well. The staff were vigilant to her needs. Family members
were made welcome by the staff and we felt that nothing we asked for would be too much trouble. Thank you to everyone.
Reply from Rebekah Steward, Customer Care Team at Bowbridge CourtThank you so much for your lovely review about our home and the Bowbridge Court Team. My Father arrived at Bowbridge Court in a very poor state of health and very low in spirits. The manager and staff have restored his health, dignity and zest for life and it has been a truly remarkable turnaround in his wellbeing. Their devotion in care and compassion is exemplary. Thank you to all.

From the moment I contacted Bowbridge for a brochure, I have felt part of the Bowbridge "family". Such care, concern and heartfelt attention for my dear mum (and me and my dad). I felt a connection with the manager, and one lady phoned me weekly to check on Mum prior to her assessment/arrival. The staff
go above and beyond our expectations. Heartfelt thanks to you all.

First impressions are important and I found Bowbridge Court staff extremely welcoming and helpful. The most overriding impression was one of a very happy and friendly atmosphere which impressed all of our family. Everyone knew my first name extremely quickly from the individual care to cleaning to good
preparation and the handyman, all is excellent. I feel freely able to ring at any time, make comments, seek advice. I forgot to mention the receptionist - simply excellent.
Reply from Rebekah Steward, Customer Care Team at Bowbridge CourtThank you so much for taking the time to write such a lovely a review for Bowbridge Court. My father was in Bowbridge Court. He was there for over seven years and was very happy. He thought he was in a hotel that's how content hewas. The carers were brilliant with him and he was very well liked. Good food and a loving environment we couldn't have asked for more.

Today's visit to see my father was wonderful for both of us I think. It was the first time I had been inside the home as my father came to live here in January in lockdown. Although it was lovely to see him in the garden room each week since March and knew he was happy here, but seeing him at ease in
his room listening to him telling me about the room and the lovely helpful staff was so good. It has given me peace of mind and really believe my sister and I made the right decision in arranging for him to live here.

All staff doing an excellent job of keeping Mum safe through this pandemic, some going above and beyond. Requested food preferences not being met on more than one occasion, resulting in disappointment. Communication is an ongoing issue, messages not being passed on to Mum. Things not being done that
family request. When home last visited in March 2020, before the pandemic, all areas seemed clean and well presented. Quality of ongoing issue, sometimes cold by the time it is served - partly due to very cold plates. Have suggested home invest in a plate warmer. Great effort seems to have been made to keep the residents entertained, despite the difficulties of the pandemic.

My 97-year-old mother recently went into care at Bowbridge Court. She had been living largely independently until then, with only a small amount of help from the family. She valued her independence hugely and was not greatly looking forward to care, despite realizing that she was finding things ever
more difficult. After two months at Bowbridge Court, she is positively blooming. By her own admission, it’s not home, but it’s the next best thing. She is being very well cared for and looks about five years younger. She has nothing but praise for all her carers and is flourishing in the home.

My mother has been in Bowbridge Court for just over 12 months. The change in her has been remarkable, no longer depressed, talking about ending it and has put on weight, she looks like a different person. Bowbridge Court have looked after my Mum extremely well over the period Mum has been in a resident there. Prior to the lockdown, there were always activities and trips she could get involved in and she repeatedly says how nice the staff is and how well looked after she is since the lockdown. I feel
that the staff are doing their best to do as much as they can under extremely difficult circumstances but are keeping their residents safe. I do feel however that the cost is excessive. We have looked at homes in the South where you would expect costs to be higher but those at Bowerbridge Court are higher.

Mum has been here since February 2019 after suffering a debilitating stroke. After a couple of months settling in we can see she is very happy and cheerful and all her needs are well cared for. This for us is also a great relief knowing she is content. The staff is extremely caring and approachable

Current Review Score: 9.7 (9.749)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.7 (9.749) out of 10 for Bowbridge Court is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.7 out of 5 from 30 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 30 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.749 for Bowbridge Court is calculated as follows: ( (273 Excellents x 5) + (74 Goods x 4) + (6 Satisfactorys x 3) + (1 Poors x 2) ) ÷ 354 Ratings = 4.749
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Bowbridge Court is based on 30 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 54 registered maximum number of service users is 10.8, which has been reached with 30 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
