Proud to win the Care Home of the Year Award in the National Care Awards 2024, the team at Bartley Green Lodge are passionate about enriching the lives of their residents.

They support them to have an active role to play in how their home is run. There are a team of resident ambassadors, who do everything from supporting the home manager to interviewing potential staff, to providing feedback at residents’ meetings.

The home is thriving, with so many activities to enjoy, from live music, animal visits and pampering in the salon and nail bar, where a hairdresser visits weekly, to trips to local garden centres and community coffee mornings.

The team embrace the local community into life at Bartley Green, taking the residents to places like the nearby social club and out for pub lunches. And local school children are always greeted by beaming smiles when they visit.

The residents and team were so proud to win a £10,000 garden makeover in an internal competition run by the home’s provider Sanctuary Care, creating their own designs for a dream garden, with wooden pergolas, raised planters and a polytunnel.

As such the gardens have been a hub of activity this summer, with the residents growing everything from lettuce and carrots, tomatoes and cucumbers. They were proud to harvest their produce for the chef to use in the kitchen.

Delicious home-cooked food is served in the dining rooms, with freshly-baked cakes for afternoon tea. And the residents and their loved ones have taster sessions, to give their feedback on the seasonal menus.

Bartley Green also has welcoming lounge areas and a vintage café, where residents can socialise and spend time with loved ones, who are welcome at any time.

My mother is looked after extremely well, always clean with fresh clothes on and is always treated with respect and dignity. Everyone is so kind and caring and nothing is too much trouble.
The home is bright and airy and very clean.
I have no issues whatsoever.

I could not be more pleased with the care and attention my wife receives at Bartley Green Lodge. Staff are always polite and welcoming on my visits. My wife also loves the home and the staff, medical care is the best she has had from the moment she arrived. Entertainment is also fantastic.

Bartley Green Lodge is what every care home should strive to be! My anxiety levels were through the roof when I was told Mom needed to go into care. The staff here were so supportive of us and seeing Mom hug staff and smile and laugh with them has been so good to see. She has only been here a short

What a fabulous place for my mum. The care team and management have been wonderful. The staff keep myself and my sisters informed of what our mum gets up to during the day and any concerns we have. Mum came in here in January and was very upset on arrival and having not seen her act like this before
were shocked and distressed. The staff were fabulous and reassured my sisters that this was very normal. Mum soon began to settle in and is now very comfortable and happy. There are a number of activities which take place every day from crafting to visits from a local Shetland pony which help to enrich the lives of the residents. Although I have never had any experience of care homes before I can only say a massive thank you to all who work at the home for the time, energy, effort and overall level of care they have given my mum. This is such a blessing knowing she is now in a safe place and beautifully looked after. The facilities are great and the home is spotless.

I simply cannot fault Bartley Green Lodge Residential Care Home. I'm so happy my mom is here after her previous experiences.
All the staff/team are so kind and caring...every one of them. Nothing is too much trouble.
The residents are like family to them and they go above and beyond to make sure
everyone has the care and love that they need.
They have daily activities, celebrate birthdays, events, special days etc. Residents are free to do whatever they like, just like at home but in a safe environment.
Relatives are included, encouraged and listened to.
It's the small personal touches that make Bartley Green Lodge a perfect home-from-home. It's a happy place, you feel it as soon as you walk in.
Mom settled from day one and every day I'm so thankful that she was accepted. Thank you Bartley Green Lodge.

My sister and myself decided this care home was an ideal place for our mother, who has double dementia, to move to when the time came for her to receive full care. We could not have chosen better. I have already recommended this care home to friends who are in a similar position. Everything is wonderful.

Bartley Green Lodge Residential Care Home is a great place to be for residents who need support and care. It has a very warm and homely community feel. My hat goes off to the manager and all the staff who do a brilliant job. My aunt is well cared for and has been made very welcome by everyone.

It is almost impossible to put into words how appreciative my family and I are for what Bartley Green Lodge Residential Care Home does for my mother and other residents. Although my mother suffers from both dementia and other health issues she looks better now than when she first went there. All of
the team, omitting nobody when I say all, do their utmost to care, feed and entertain the residents and show both compassion and understanding in what can be a very difficult profession and in my opinion treat the residents as they would treat their own family. If anyone is seeking a recommendation for a friend or family member I will whole heatedly say that you will not find a better place with a team of caring people to entrust your loved ones' care.

My wife has been a resident for the last two years and during that time she has been treated with respect and dignity.
The staff have been very supportive of both my wife and me and any requests are always met with concern for my wife's care.

She has been at Bartley Green Lodge for three years now. She has been looked after excellently by staff and has been very happy. She moved in a year before lockdown, so was faced with uncertain times, but how Bartley Green Lodge dealt with Covid was remarkable and can only praise the staff and management.

My mom has been in three different homes up to now and will shortly have to be moved again due to needing a nursing home, but I can safely say this is the best residential home she has been in, and all the staff have been amazing.
We will be sorry when she is moved as they have taken the best care
of my mom and always had the best good intentions for her and all the residents.
I would recommend Bartley Green Lodge to anyone.

Mum has been at Bartley Green Lodge for about 15 months now. It is a lovely place, and the staff are so caring and helpful. Every week there seems to be some sort of event celebrated, keeping all the residents occupied. The recent Jubilee holiday was outstanding at the Lodge, with so much happening
culminating in a wonderful day on Sunday.

Our family friend has been a resident since September last year. I looked at a couple of care homes and felt that his needs would be met at Bartley Green. He is extremely well looked after and has settled in. The team provide a wide range of activities from racing day to Jubilee celebrations. There
is even a WhatsApp group for friends and family. I can honestly say that I made the right choice.

My father has been a resident for nearly 2.5 years. I have often said to him that he could come and live with me, but each time he has said that he would miss the friendly staff and the activities and prefers to remain at Bartley Green Lodge Residential Care Home. Very good care home. My aunt is very well looked after despite her cantankerous behaviour at times. There are always activities going on and the residents are encouraged to join in and photos are sent at regular intervals.
