Moving mom into care was a very daunting experience ladened with guilt. The staff at the nursing home and manager have all be so helpful and attentive that I needn't have worried, Within the first week you could see that mom was being looked after and well cared for. She was able to roam around freely and also lots of different activities have been made available to her.

Everyone is so friendly and have time to answer any questions. The staff are exceptional including the seniors who are always on hand. It's good to feel mom is in safe hands, being fed and encouraged to shower. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Bartley Green Lodge Residential to anyone whose relative was going into care.

Warm welcome by receptionist, easy access, good hospitality. Had cups of tea, very pleasant surroundings, comfortable lounge. Staff always seem to have time to chat to residents and visitors. Friendly, happy atmosphere. Plenty of humour.

I would recommend this place to anyone.

My mother has been in this home since July 2015 whether she was looked after. Just before Christmas my mother was admitted into hospital by her care home (Bartley Green Lodge Residential Care Home). We are not entirely sure why she was admitted as the care home said that they thought she should be on a drip as she was dehydrated, my mother has dementia and doesn't drink and eat as much as she should do. When we asked the hospital why she was admitted they said that the dehydration was never mentioned to them and in fact my mother had gone off her legs. The hospital have now contacted the home to tell them that she is ok to return to the home but the home have refused to have her back even though the hospital think she is fit to return. The home have said that because she refuses to feed herself and she is not mobile that they won't have her back. We put my mum in this home because they specialise in dementia care so surely they should know that this is how the illness progresses. Also the hospital use a hoist to move my mother in and out of bed and we know that the home also use a hoist to move people around so I don't see how they can refuse to have her back when they provide this sort of care for others. We feel sorry for the hospital as we feel that my mother is bed blocking, as she isn't physically ill, but they won't have her back.

Something else we have noticed over the last few months is the turnover of staff at the home, and there seems to be more agency staff there than ever before. I feel that my mother has been shunted off to hospital just before Christmas so there was one less person for them to deal with. Now we have to find another place where my mother can be looked after. This poor treatment of my mother has now been reported to the Care Quality Commission as I feel that the home are taking the view that she has become a burden to them.

My team and I feel really disappointed to read this review as our residents’ happiness and welfare is always our top priority and we do everything we can to ensure they are able to remain with us for as long as possible.

However unfortunately, there are times when a resident goes into hospital as...

My mother has been able to settle very well due to the help of the managers and staff. The home is always clean and tidy. The food seems excellent. There is a good atmosphere whenever I visit and staff are very kind and caring.

The kindness and support that mom has received from day one, when she was met by the lady from the office has remained. All the staff that mom has got to know are amazing and take the time to listened as she does like a chat especially when she has got a cup of tea. Mom decided she wanted her own curtains and bed cover to make it look more like home and it does. The staff whether it be the team on the front desk, office and carers there is always someone around if you need advice or just a chat. One of the staff who has recently joined the team, thank you for answering any worries I might have if moms not been well. I don't think I could manage this journey without them. The only advice I can give is not to be afraid to ask for help if you have any worries or concerns as they are all there to help.

I couldn't be more satisfied. Mum has been at the Lodge since November and has clearly settled down well. She looks happier and healthier than I've seen her since her stroke last year. The staff are friendly and courteous which clearly makes for a calm harmonious atmosphere at the home.

We have found Bartley Green to be very caring and friendly. Nothing is too much for the staff. Our mother has not been this happy for a long time. Staff and management always take time to sit and talk to her.

I'm lucky to be in reasonable good health, but this is so the place I'd like to live out the rest of my days if need be. It is above average of any nursing home I have visited!!

My mum has been in the home since March 2013 and I have always found the staff to be very caring and kind to my mum, they have always been understanding of the problems she has. At the moment she is in the process of waiting to go into a nursing home which we are very sad about because we as a family wish she could stay at this home but she needs nursing care. When she first went into this home the one thing that made my mind up was how well the rooms were laid out and also the care that she has been given since her mobility has got worse. It is just sad that Sanctuary Care does not provide nursing care.

I love working here because we are all here for the right reason – it’s not just a job we truly care for the residents and it’s such a special place. It's like a second home here and I feel happy to come to work in the morning. I know the residents have a lot of faith in me and as soon as you walk onto the floor in the morning they smile.

As long as I know our residents are happy, I am happy. It’s such an achievement to know we are supporting our residents to have such a good quality of life here.

I love my job – this is home to me and the residents mean everything. You get to know their personalities and their little quirks – the banter and laughs you have with them are so lovely. I love this home.
