Proud to win the Care Home of the Year Award in the National Care Awards 2024, the team at Bartley Green Lodge are passionate about enriching the lives of their residents.

They support them to have an active role to play in how their home is run. There are a team of resident ambassadors, who do everything from supporting the home manager to interviewing potential staff, to providing feedback at residents’ meetings.

The home is thriving, with so many activities to enjoy, from live music, animal visits and pampering in the salon and nail bar, where a hairdresser visits weekly, to trips to local garden centres and community coffee mornings.

The team embrace the local community into life at Bartley Green, taking the residents to places like the nearby social club and out for pub lunches. And local school children are always greeted by beaming smiles when they visit.

The residents and team were so proud to win a £10,000 garden makeover in an internal competition run by the home’s provider Sanctuary Care, creating their own designs for a dream garden, with wooden pergolas, raised planters and a polytunnel.

As such the gardens have been a hub of activity this summer, with the residents growing everything from lettuce and carrots, tomatoes and cucumbers. They were proud to harvest their produce for the chef to use in the kitchen.

Delicious home-cooked food is served in the dining rooms, with freshly-baked cakes for afternoon tea. And the residents and their loved ones have taster sessions, to give their feedback on the seasonal menus.

Bartley Green also has welcoming lounge areas and a vintage café, where residents can socialise and spend time with loved ones, who are welcome at any time.

My experience of Bartley Green Lodge is that my aunt has always been well cared for and she herself settled in the lodge straight away and has been happy in the last two and a half years there and that means a lot to me.

When looking for dementia care for my Mom, I checked out several care homes before deciding on Sanctuary. I wanted somewhere where Mom would feel at home, with caring friendly staff.


Apart from looking for the obvious points of looking for suitable care, I needed to ensure the overall accommodation

was clean and the food good.
I never announce when I shall visit Mom, but whenever I do the place is always clean, tidy and smelling lovely. (I have even complimented the cleaning staff on a job well done).
There is a fantastic food choice at every meal, (not just edible) which is served with a smile from the carers.


There is entertainment or activities throughout the week, along with weekly visiting primary school children, plus a family cafe area with complimentary homemade cakes each day.


In short, I know I've entrusted my Mom to a wonderful place, with caring staff, whether they be personal carers, catering staff, cleaning or office staff, and I can't thank them enough for what they do.

We are pleased with Bartley Green Care home overall. The staff are friendly, supportive and kind. The food is well cooked and well presented. The rooms are comfortable and are cleaned on a fairly regular basis.

I have always found staff and management to be very helpful. They all seem to have the residents best interests. Staff seem well trained and act with care and understanding. A good service overall. We, as a family, are pleased with our Mother's care.

Very good value for money, service and general care of all residents is outstanding. The only one thing I feel is needed here is footstools that elevate. Your legs as residents suffer from swollen legs. There are foot stools here but the hight is not sufficient. Also maybe something to add that all
rooms have remote beds so residents can sit up or have legs elevated.

Happy with Mom's care throughout her 18 months stay at this home.
Staff all attentive to Mom's changing needs. Mom is happy here and safe and entertained.
Support when needed after emergency is excellent. As a family, we could not wish for more for Mom.

During my father's stay so far he has been treated with respect, dignity and kindness by management and staff, always happy to help and advise.
During one of my visits, there was an incident with one of the patients who stumbled and fell. Their response was quite amazing, how quickly and professionally
it was dealt with. I am pleased to say the lady was okay.

March 2017, was the first month in Bartley Green Lodge, everything I have found in regard to my dad has been excellent - the carers and management staff cannot do enough to help with care, queries and questions. Nothing is too much trouble for them if it will help you feel better about a situation,
or if there is something troubling you. 100% customer service and 100% customer satisfaction on my part.

The accommodation is very good. Rooms are nice and clean and the staff are always very helpful and look after my aunt very well especially when she fell and broke her hip. I would recommend this care home, so many thanks for all your support.

My dad had been a resident here for almost a year. He has always been treated extremely well and always with dignity and respect. The staff and managers are all brilliant and share a great sense of humour with him. Everyone is extremely helpful and kind to residents and family. Any problems are always
