Both of my grandparents are residents of Hamble Height and I can't thank Hamble Heights enough for the continuing high standard of care they provide both of them. They are always accommodating to their needs and treat them with the utmost kindness and respect.
For my gran's birthday, Hamble Heights went out of their way to make my gran's birthday a special experience, particularly two staff members in particular. They decorated their private dining area for her and the family, prepared menus and table settings to make it feel as if we were at a restaurant and Sandy even baked a cake for my gran. Although my gran has advanced dementia, it was clear she enjoyed the experience, as did my grandad and the rest of the family. One staff member in particular also assisted my grandad in selecting and coordinating a birthday card and gift, which pleased him greatly.

Thank you so much to the manager and the team for the wonderful support they provide!

My husband was in the hospital, he was dying and needed good care. I remembered seeing Hamble Heights Care Home when a friend was in there, so I asked for that. I was so pleased to be able to find a room there, and my husband was looked after so well. He died peacefully this week and was looked after so well until the end.

A lovely friendly home that is improving constantly. The staff are brilliant and care for the residents with patience, respect and humour. The activities provided are stimulating and enriching for the residents and provide a respite during the day. The food is OK but would be better with more choice

I was welcomed by an experienced manager who took the time to listen to the needs of us as a family member and our concerns we had.
The team were friendly and welcoming when I was shown the beautiful home.
The business manager took the time to make us a coffee and welcomed us into their lounge area.

What a beautiful caring home with the experienced manager taking the time out Thank you

Having lived independently and aged 90 I was worried when my beloved mother, through sudden illness, could no longer care for herself and required 24/7 nursing care.
The Care Home is managed by the capable and enthusiastic Manager who is supported by Business Development Manager, who welcomes us each morning and a Clinical Lead. Each individually professional but who together create an awesome and formidable team where the residents care is the priority.
The room is cosy and kept scrupulously clean. The meals are freshly cooked.

There are no sad faces just a happy dedicated team of nursing staff and a care support team who genuinely love their residents and their work.

I recently visited my Aunt and was very impressed with the welcome I received. Most importantly she is very happy, settled and receiving the care and dignity she deserves. Everyone resident and member of staff I encountered seemed to be happy which says so much about a home.

Review from Daniel L (Friend of Resident) published on 27 June 2024 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience
For the last few months of my friend's life, it was clear that she needed professional care and nursing in a warm friendly efficient environment.
In all respects, I can safely say that all her needs were cared for in a highly personalised manner. All the staff, regardless of function or level were very communicative and attentive. If I had any questions, I was very satisfied that they knew the answers relating to my friend.
I never felt any sense at any time that my friend was not getting the very best attention that she needed.
The staff clearly communicated with each other maintained good records and gave of themselves freely.
I feel that the best leadership is in an environment, where the staff know what to do at all times and use their initiative in an appropriate manner. The staff here demonstrated that the leadership and training were excellent.

I cannot fault the staff at this home in any way and would recommend this home to anyone.

Review from Val B (Sister of Resident) published on 1 May 2024 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience
Our sister has been a resident for 18 months. We completed a review last year and believe we can say most of our responses were good or excellent. Unfortunately, however, we feel we need to complete another review due to the deterioration of the Home. Our sister has informed us there has been a real change, i.e. food, some inedible, lack of choice and variety, especially as she is diabetic
Cleanliness, rooms ok, but the crockery and utensils in the dining room are disgraceful. Very badly stained with some having dried on food. Although this has been pointed out many times to the administrative staff there appears to be no change.

Staff, no continuity with residents as they are moved around the various floors. Agency Staff employed are not as caring as the permanent staff

My husband has just had his first rest bite stay at Hamble Heights for two weeks. On arrival, the staff were friendly and reassuring and took a lot of time making sure my husband was comfortable also putting plans in place for safe transfer and to make sure he would be safe at all times. I had requested that my husband spend his days in the lounge rather than his room and I feel that every effort was made to make this happen, safety permitting. The food always looked delicious and I know my husband enjoyed it. The carers were attentive, although two or three of them to fifteen residents didn't always feel like another. There often seemed to be an agency nurse on duty rather than the wonderful nurses who knew the residents.

Overall Experience
The warmth and friendliness of all staff members is lovely for both the residents and their visiting families. Staff are always informative, patient and also genuinely kind-hearted. The carers go above and beyond and treat all residents with dignity and affection.
The rooms are spacious, clean and comfortable, providing a sense of relaxation. Mum enjoys the food and engaging in activities. Although there is already a fantastic wellbeing team in place, I would love to see a few more opportunities for dedicated one-on-one social time.
My mum has experienced some minor health issues, but they have been promptly addressed and suitable medication has been prescribed by the local GP. The communication between the nursing home and the GP surgery is truly commendable. As a daughter, this alleviates a significant amount of worry from my mind.

Overall, my family and I are incredibly grateful and content with the exceptional level of care and attention that Mum receives at Hamble Heights.

My elderly mother was assessed and accepted by Hamble Heights for long term care. After less than two weeks she was admitted to hospital in the early hours of the morning.
The care home struggled to deal with my mother who has dementia and failed to administer her prescribed medication. This resulted in deterioration of her condition as well as behaviour and resulted in the home informing her family they could not have her back with immediate effect.

Although some staff were very helpful and kind there did not seem to be an adequate care plan in place.

Thank you for your review. We are sorry that we have not met your expectations. Giving notice to a resident and their family is never a decision that we take lightly. Unfortunately, it became clear very early on that we would not be able to meet your mother’s needs. We must balance the needs of all...

The staff are kind and very helpful. I've been well looked after. The nursing facilities are great. The home is clean, tidy, and warm and the cleaners come every day. My room is clean, warm and tidy and great hygiene. The garden is very pretty and suits our needs. It's been great to meet new friends while staying here. There are activities offered all day with entertainment and animals bought into the home.

My husband has only been here a short time, but we have been very pleased with the care and attention he has received. The staff are very friendly and make the family feel very welcome. A few teething issues with his laundry, etc. But we hope this will be resolved.

Overall Experience
Dad resided at Hamble Heights from September 2020 until May 2023 following a stroke which left him paralysed down one side, unable to swallow needing a rig for medicine and food with severe speech difficulties. Dad has been looked after under very difficult circumstances with the utmost respect, care and attention from all members of staff. They have always communicated well with the family and kept us well informed and allowing access to Dad at all times to all members of the family which are many to visit. During Covid, the home provided the best possible visiting access that rules would allow, which we really appreciated.
We have always felt that Dad was in the best place receiving love, care and attention at all times even under very difficult circumstances which gave the family peace of mind.

Thank you all very much.

My Mother has been a resident at Hamble Heights for 17 months. We chose the home as its near the family and is purpose built. However, the most important reasons are the wonderful care staff and nurses and the excellent food. My Mother tells me that there is always an alternative dish served if you would rather have this. The activities organiser is great and very innovative, although it is difficult for those with a visual impairment to take part in too many activities. They gave my Mum a fabulous 100th birthday party! I mentioned the care staff and nurses above but of course thanks and praise should also go to all the other staff in the home who help to make everything run smoothly.
