Hamble Heights is not just another care home, it’s a CARING HOME, and there is a huge difference. Every worker accepts management responsibility at their level, from the top down, to create an atmosphere of calm, stability and respect, to ensure each resident and fellow worker is treated as a member
of one big family, and they never fail. I know I have made the right choice in choosing Hamble Heights for my wife, that I can leave after a visit totally reassured. I hope, when my turn comes, there’s space for me.

My mum went into Hamble Heights for one week respite and settled so well decided she would like to stay permanently, due to the kindness of all the staff, the delicious food and excellent accommodation. Mum has made friends with residents and no longer feels lonely and feels safe. An excellent care
home.

A happy relaxed atmosphere. Nice surroundings.
Reply from Sebastian Wiencelewski, Home Manager at Hamble Heights Care HomeThank you for your comments. We always value and encourage relatives and residents’ feedback, as it helps us to make improvements and strive to deliver the best service that we can. So I’m really grateful to your family for meeting with me last week to give us more detailed feedback.

As we discussed, I’m pleased to say we have addressed your query about the presentation of meals, and our seasonal menu has now changed to the winter menu. We were very fond of your mother and two of our carers, in particular, looked after her, which I know you appreciated. Although we have nurses on shift 24/7, we have also now strengthened the team and have trained two new care practitioners to support the nurses. We will be taking care of the fence in the private garden, which needs a new coat of paint. We have a decorating plan in place and this task will form part of it.

Thanks again for the time your family took to discuss with me how we can continue to make improvements to ensure Hamble Heights provides the very best care and companionship to its residents.

Without exception, every member of staff and management acquitted their roles in an exemplary fashion nothing was too much. The accommodation was bright, clean and airy with all areas being accessible and legible.
My mother enjoyed her three weeks stay and I was happy in the knowledge she was in safe
and caring hands.

Hamble Heights provided excellent care for both my father and the family before, during, and after his short time there. Management was really caring and helpful. The staff looked after my father with real consideration for his needs.

Overall this is an excellent care home that strives to give

residents and their families a homelike experience. Nothing was too much trouble for them in making everyone feel really comfortable. I can't praise their efforts highly enough.

I have and will always recommend Hamble Heights. The administrative, nursing and caring staff are sensitive, friendly, informative and professional. I can’t thank them enough for looking after my husband during the 3 years and then the final days of his life, caring for him and myself, treating us with
tenderness and dignity. My deepest and sincerest thanks to all concerned. It’s the management and staff that make the home excellent.

My friend was a resident at Hamble Heights for two weeks after major heart surgery i.e for recuperation only. A friend visited my friend in hospital before his discharge and cared for him during his two weeks along with the caring team. Her professionalism was excellent. Staff led a first-class team
ay Hamble Heights who cared for my friend to the very highest standards. I would without any reservations recommend Hamble Heights for recuperation after surgery.

My mother was in Hamble Heights for approximately 1 year during which time she received the best care during her last year. All the staff are constantly aware of the needs of the residents and talk to them as they go about their duties. The nursing staff are very helpful and will answer any questions
or concerns raised relating to the resident's health. The accommodation and equipment is of good quality and the general atmosphere is homely.

My mother stayed at Hamble Heights for over 4 years and was very caringly looked after by the carers and nurses there. Even the resident cat was very kind to her. Her diet was modified over the years as she progressively lost the ability to chew and the bed was also adapted to suit her lessening powers
of movement. A very pleasant environment to spend one's last years or less in.

As a family, we had hoped that nursing home care for dear dad would never be necessary. However, as dad deteriorated at home, his nursing needs could no longer be met. So we made the difficult decision to transfer him to nursing home care.
The care that dad received at Hamble Heights from the moment
he arrived on the 4th January, until the date of his death on the 5th February, was exemplary. The staff maintained the highest standards of care, commitment, loving kindness, support and concern not only for dad but for us too as a family. We have nothing but praise for Hamble Heights and the team there brightened a very sad chapter. They treated dad with the utmost dignity, loving care and respect, as they took over responsibility for his end of life care, enabling us as a family to share once more special times with dad, knowing that he was properly cared for in his last earthly chapter. My dad deserved the best, and he received that at Hamble Heights: A true haven of peace and care.

My mum spent the last 9 months of her life at Hamble Heights. Mum was thrown out of her previous care home because they said they could not meet her needs due to her fall risks and her level of dementia.
It was quite a relief to finally find a nursing home that I liked and I knew immediately that
this would be the right place for mum and I never regretted that decision.

Mum was often anxious and they changed the furniture around so she was safer, installed mats etc, in her bedroom and the lounge, in order to be alerted quickly.

Every time I visited, it was very evident how well she was being looked after, the staff really cared. I went in one day and mum was singing in a microphone with one of the staff, never once was I turned away.

The whole place is well run by the general manager, the nursing team, and staff are supportive not only to the resident but the family too.

I cannot recommend Hamble Heights highly enough, the whole team are a credit to their home and profession.

The care was exemplary throughout Dad's short stay. All the staff went over and above their normal duties, providing Dad with compassionate and very kind care. They treated him with great dignity and were also incredibly kind to us. We felt part of the Hamble Heights family and when our dad passed away,
they were genuinely sad and shared our sorrow. An outstanding place for our Dad's last journey in life.

My husband spent one week in Hamble Heights to receive end of life care. He couldn’t have been in a better place. His care was outstanding, and the care both my son and I received was outstanding too. We were made to feel very welcome and nothing was too much trouble. It’s a beautiful happy place where
all the staff are very attentive at all times. My son and I are in admiration of everyone at Hamble Heights, the care standards are very high, everywhere is kept spotlessly clean. We felt like it was our home too. I would not hesitate to recommend Hamble Heights to anyone, it’s a very happy, welcoming warm place full of staff with hearts of gold! We can’t thank them enough for how they took care of all of us. Thank you to all at Hamble Heights you are amazing!!

My husband has complex health needs but receives excellent care from all the staff. There is a warm and friendly atmosphere at Hamble Heights. My mother spent 11 months at Hamble Heights. During that period at no time did we have any concerns about her care there. The staff always treated her kindly and with respect. Both her room and the Home itself felt like a good hotel. The staff telephoned me as she neared the end so I was able to be
with her during her last moments, which I much appreciated.

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.6 (9.633) out of 10 for Hamble Heights Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.7 out of 5 from 18 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.9 out of 5 from 17 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.708 for Hamble Heights Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (166 Excellents x 5) + (33 Goods x 4) + (10 Satisfactorys x 3) + (3 Poors x 2) ) ÷ 212 Ratings = 4.708
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.925 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Hamble Heights Care Home is based on 17 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.925
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 60 registered maximum number of service users is 12, which has been reached with 17 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
