I think mum is generally happy and well cared for. However, I think because she is always in bed she misses out on all organised activities and this is often replaced by one to one contact. Mum also finds it difficult to hear/understand some of the staff for whom English is not their first language.
I would suggest that the rota provides for one English person on at a time. I think there is some lack of continuity between shifts.

On arrival at reception, there was a warm welcome by the receptionist. When I visited my mother in law, she looked well cared for. Her overall appearance was clean, dressed appropriately and hair properly brushed. Her room was clean and tidy. When I required assistance a senior member of staff I spoke
to was efficient and helpful. I left on that day, happy in the knowledge that this is the right home for my ageing relative.

My mother had lost her confidence following falls in another residential home. She was diagnosed with heart failure in hospital and had given up hope of enjoying life. Gracewell motivated my mum to try to walk and since living there she always has a smile on her face. She is so happy and cared for by
the staff. The home is well run and nothing is too much trouble. Staff decorated her room on her birthday and even sorted out a hairdressing appointment for her so she could attend a birthday outing looking good! Thank you so much.

I have recently submitted a review, but feel I would like to add another point.
At a relatives meeting a few months ago, I suggested that a support group for relatives of family members in Gracewell of Maids Moreton would be helpful. We are experiencing some difficult times with my mother in law's
dementia journey and I felt it might be helpful to have a support group to share our experiences and to hear other people's experiences and difficulties, as well as the good times.

Within a few weeks, the staff had begun the process of looking into starting the support group and now it is up and running, with monthly meetings to chat and to listen to talks about the various aspects of dementia, all helping us to understand and to try to come to terms with the changes in our loved one's dementia journey.
This is another example of the support from the staff at Maids Moreton, and their compassion and eagerness to help and to understand.
Thanks to the management and their wonderful staff.

Mum moved to Maids Moreton over a year ago for full care and her dementia was progressing. The extraordinary care, kindness and compassion showed by every staff member from the friendly greeting as you walk through the door, to the housekeeping staff and the amazing team of carers and nurses - is evident
on every visit to see Mum. As Mum's dementia progresses, the staff and carers are there to help her with every challenge and new care need, always aware of preserving dignity and helping with great kindness and understanding, both for Mum and the whole family. The in-house hairdresser is such a joy and Mum still takes great pleasure from seeing her beautiful weekly hairdo!

The family are so welcomed and encouraged to be a part of resident's life - take meals with them, attend activities, and spend time in the various lounges or very attractive Bistro - which has the best coffee! The grounds are very attractive and relaxing - weather permitting - and wheelchair accessible outside.

I visit weekly and always feel welcomed.
The food is amazing and the activities they do with Gran are outstanding.
A special mention to the staff who always have something great to say about Gran.

I have been very pleased with the way my dad has settled into the care home. All the staff at Gracewell have been very friendly, caring, patient and kind. Whenever the manager sees my dad she is clearly delighted to see him and he is delighted to see her.
The same goes for the entertainments manager,
my dad greets her like an old friend. Thank you to all at Gracewell for making those days for my dad happy and giving me the comfort and knowing he is in the best hands.

My father died at Gracewell of Maids Moreton, he had been there for 18 months. He was over 100 years old and had end fo of life care at the home. The care that he received for the two weeks before his death was exceptional. The carers were so kind to him and to us and treated him with such dignity and
respect that we are indebted to them forever. These were dark days and the carers treated my father like he was their family. Words cannot express our gratitude.

Excellent care home. Beautifully maintained with great facilities and grounds. Staff are very caring and attentive. Issues are dealt with such as requested room change. Suggested improvements: more auxiliary staff to take pressure from care staff. Dishwasher in Reminiscence kitchen and professional
dishwasher in Residents' kitchen/lounge.

Mother was pretty ill at the beginning of the month. Staff were really kind to her, encouraging her to eat and drink and moved in a wheelchair, even she couldn't walk. The care given by the staff is always gracious and take into account her wants. It is not just the care staff who are friendly and helpful,
but cleaners, maintenance and kitchen staff too.

My Grandmother has been at Gracewell Of Maids Moreton for a few months now. Every time I go and see her everyone is incredibly friendly, my Gran is looking lovely and there is a great feeling about the place. For her birthday all the family were there, as always, the staff couldn't have done more -
they decorated the room and gave her a card. It is the little things that make this place wonderful.

Current Review Score: 9.6 (9.560)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.6 (9.560) out of 10 for Maids Moreton Hall is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.6 out of 5 from 18 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.9 out of 5 from 17 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.635 for Maids Moreton Hall is calculated as follows: ( (152 Excellents x 5) + (42 Goods x 4) + (16 Satisfactorys x 3) + (1 Poors x 2) ) ÷ 211 Ratings = 4.635
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.925 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Maids Moreton Hall is based on 17 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.925
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 60 registered maximum number of service users is 12, which has been reached with 17 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Job Title: Home Manager

I completed my nurse training at Buckinghamshire Chiltern University College in 2006 and did postgraduate training at Brighton University.

I began working for Care UK as a carer in 2000, and I found it to be an enjoyable experience where I learned so much. It was what persuaded me to follow a nursing career. I had many great years working in care homes and had served as a Deputy Manager since 2019.

In order to fulfil my role, it’s important to be a keen listener and to be approachable, empathetic and responsive to enquiries. You must be able to receive critiques and complete action plans too, and continuously update your skills and knowledge.

My favourite part of the day is my walk around. It’s a great opportunity to interact with colleagues and residents, and to have a quick overview of the home and the environment. I look forward to continuing to get to know the residents and assisting with risk assessments and care planning, so that care is delivered to an excellent standard.

I love writing poems and songs outside of work, and I enjoy singing and dancing too. I also like to spend time walking in the park and driving around the country.
