4 years ago, after much online research followed by visiting 3 different homes, we came away from our visit to Maids Moreton Hall (MMH)with a feeling that this one was right for my mother. It was the warm welcome, the friendliness of all the staff we saw, and the openness and sincerity that instilled
trust and reassurance when we left. Now, after 3.5 years of residency, which included both residential and reminiscence, our initial impressions have been more than justified and exceeded. There have been challenges and difficult decision but the caring staff in every role created such a homely atmosphere for the residents and the relatives. A family environment prevails and is nurtured, which makes the difference and is very comforting. Ensuring new staff "tune in" to these standards, maintain, and further improve them, could be challenging but essential if the caring family ethos is to continue. Having been closely involved in this "community" whilst sad at our own loss, we can honestly say that we made the right decision 4 years ago. MMH is different, unique, so thank you.

We are truly touched by your words and honoured that you chose Maids Moreton Hall for your mother's care. It means a great deal to know that the warmth and trust you felt from your first visit continued through her time with us. Creating a caring, homely, family environment for both residents and relatives is at the heart of everything we do, and your recognition of our team across all roles means so much.

In general, we are very happy with the care. Few minor issues, I wish there was more staff retention as we have noticed staff changing more recently in the past year.
My dad is happy which is most important.

My father moved to the residential unit of the home in September 2023 which enabled him to continue to enjoy a good quality of life still following his dementia diagnosis. He really enjoyed it there and always had a cheeky smile and a joke with the lovely care staff who catered to his needs very well.
Sadly his health deteriorated even more and he was moved onto the nursing unit in June 25 for his end of life care.
The amazing nurse's and care staff made sure that Dads end of life care was with the utmost compassion, care and dignity. I could not have asked for anymore and they also made sure Dads family were kept informed and well supported at such a difficult time.
I will never forget this wonderful team of people that looked after my Dad over the 2 Years he was there. Truly outstanding care
Reply from Andrea Bullen, Reviews Team at Maids Moreton HallThank you so much for taking the time to share such heartfelt words about your dad's time with us. It was truly a privilege for our team to care for him over the past two years and to get to know his warm personality, cheeky smile, and sense of humour.
We are deeply touched by your kind comments about the care team, both in the residential and nursing units. Ensuring that residents live with dignity, comfort, and joy right through to the end of life is at the heart of what we do, and it means so much to know that you and your family felt supported during such a difficult time.
Your dad will be fondly remembered by us all, and we send you and your family our sincere condolences. Thank you once again for trusting us with his care.
With warm regards,
Andrea

Visited a friend who has been a resident for 5 months. Physical ability is very limited - bed/wheelchair bound. Mental ability excellent, highly intelligent, academic, and excellent recall. Some very slight confusion. I was very impressed with the efficient, helpful staff. Airy, bright, exceptionally
tidy and clean. The resident is very comfortable, accepting of the situation and warmly appreciative of the staff. Seems an appropriate exceptional placement for them.

We chose MMH because it seemed friendly and had a buzz about it that we thought mum would like. We had also asked local people about its reputation and received very positive responses. We have not be disappointed. The home is warm, welcoming and friendly. All staff go out of their way the care, help
and support both the residents and their families. We honestly were doubtful whether this move would work, but I have to say that it is an outstanding success. I cannot thank the staff at MMH enough.

My father had a last-minute admission for respite care following a hospital stay after a stroke. Maids Moreton Hall was most welcoming at a time of high stress levels and family worries. They provided that vital transition between acute hospital care and getting home. I was really impressed with the
staff who were so kind to my dad, thank you from all of the family.

My dad moved into the home during Covid, which was a scary time for the world. Maids Moreton Hall made the transition painless and with the pod, we were still able to visit. Three years later, my dad is a happy, settled resident, who participates in all sorts of activities. The care staff are all amazing
with his complex needs, and it now feels like I have a huge extended family.

I chose Maids Moreton Hall for my mother who had been living on her own in Devon and had a stroke so she knew she could no longer cope at home. I was impressed when I visited the Hall. She has settled in well - the staff are so friendly and everyone has a smile for residents. The home has a very happy
atmosphere and is very comfortable like a hotel. They have plenty of activities and trips out to keep residents busy and now the weather is warming up they can all enjoy the lovely gardens. The food is excellent and there is always plenty of choice for whatever residents would like. The home is also very hot on communication with regular residents and family meetings. Overall we are very impressed and Mum is now settling in well and making friends. I would recommend it to anybody.

My friend has been in Maids Moreton Hall for eighteen months. It was hard at the beginning but now she could not be happier. She is looked after in all aspects - care, hygiene, food and general wellbeing. The nurse is excellent and the staff member on reception is always friendly and very welcoming.
All staff are very friendly, always chat when I go in. Any issues will get sorted out. My friend could not be in a better place.

My mother-in-law has recently deteriorated following a 10 day hospital stay.
She was keen to get 'home' as she refers to Maids Moreton Hall - and the welcome back she received was great. The care has been adapted seamlessly to take care of her additional needs and her carers are totally amazing. I
can't speak highly enough about the whole home. 100% recommended.

My father had a very dignified end to his life at Maids Moreton Hall. The care provided during his entire stay was of the highest standard. The quantity of the staff and their commitment to all aspects of care provision is exceptional. When he was able to understand about his care he was very happy.
When he was confused and in decline I was certain that he couldn't have had better 24/7 care. Grateful thanks to all the staff.

We have been delighted with the care afforded to my father following his entry to Maids Moreton Hall in February of this year. It has been a wonderful experience for us to see him settled into what we believe is the best available care. He has responded so well to his circumstances and we are thankful
to have found such a well-managed home, staffed by so many wonderful and considerate carers. They are a credit to themselves and to the leadership under which they are managed.

We moved my Dad to Maids Morton Hall in March of this year from another care home.
From the moment we arrived and settled Dad in he was happy with his new surroundings, his room looked out onto the gardens and the church. Dad went on a trip that was fantastic for him and he continued to chat about
the experience.
The care that Dad was given was second to none from all staff.
We as a family were made to feel part of the Maids Morton family form day one and I class the staff there as friends.
Dad sadly passed away while at the home but he was treated with dignity during his last few days.

I can't thank all of the staff and management for all they did for us in making Dad welcome and part of the home.

Current Review Score: 9.7 (9.650)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.7 (9.650) out of 10 for Maids Moreton Hall is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 16 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.9 out of 5 from 16 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.750 for Maids Moreton Hall is calculated as follows: ( (146 Excellents x 5) + (37 Goods x 4) + (5 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 188 Ratings = 4.75
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.9 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Maids Moreton Hall is based on 16 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.9
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 60 registered maximum number of service users is 12, which has been reached with 16 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Job Title: Home Manager

I completed my nurse training at Buckinghamshire Chiltern University College in 2006 and did postgraduate training at Brighton University.

I began working for Care UK as a carer in 2000, and I found it to be an enjoyable experience where I learned so much. It was what persuaded me to follow a nursing career. I had many great years working in care homes and had served as a Deputy Manager since 2019.

In order to fulfil my role, it’s important to be a keen listener and to be approachable, empathetic and responsive to enquiries. You must be able to receive critiques and complete action plans too, and continuously update your skills and knowledge.

My favourite part of the day is my walk around. It’s a great opportunity to interact with colleagues and residents, and to have a quick overview of the home and the environment. I look forward to continuing to get to know the residents and assisting with risk assessments and care planning, so that care is delivered to an excellent standard.

I love writing poems and songs outside of work, and I enjoy singing and dancing too. I also like to spend time walking in the park and driving around the country.
