It was very difficult for Mum to accept that she could no longer live alone and would need 24-hour support. But from our first visit, we knew that this would be the right place. Such a lovely atmosphere, a real home from home, friendly and very welcoming.
We were able to bring quite a few of Mum’s
possessions – furniture, photos, bedding, etc and very soon, her room began to look at least a little familiar. She tells me the food is very good and I know she is being well looked after. Most of all, she’s safe which is a great comfort to us as a family.
The staff are thoughtful, caring and innovative. They made Mum’s birthday really special - a decorated room and beautiful birthday cake, which staff brought to her whilst singing “Happy Birthday” – and I joined in via a video call, as unfortunately, the country was in lockdown due to Covid-19.
These are challenging times and we really appreciate all the staff at Gracewell, who are trying to make the best of everything. Thank you!

Our stepmother is in the dementia unit and is very well cared for. The staff are lovely and are always friendly. The food is good and the home is like a restful hotel. We are very pleased with our choice. Thank you all the staff especially at this strange time. We are kept well informed at what is going
on and in normal times they have lots of activities. Everyone knows the residents and it is a pleasure walking in. They always try to accommodate whatever we request.

Lovely surroundings beautifully kept, and residents are treated like guests in a 5-star hotel. During this difficult pandemic, residents have been well looked after and while visits have had to stop, communication by Facetime has been encouraged. My mother looks very well cared for.

It was a communication from the manager, generic in nature and not directly relating to my father, yet it was a thoughtful and welcome initiative which succeeded in reassuring me on how recommended protocols had been put in place to best shield the residents in the Maids Moreton setting. My father tells
me that everyone is working tirelessly to maintain a level of care and normality each day, within the added demands and constraints of managing this Covid-19 outbreak.
His amusing reports and anecdotes (including walnut whips and Pimms on the terrace under the trees!) relating to the care and friendship you offer him, are a testament to how you are successfully achieving this.
He and our family thank you and every one of the team for all you do to continue to support him during this strange and demanding time. At present, he could not be happier living elsewhere or to be better placed to have his needs met whilst riding this savage storm.

From top to bottom of Gracewell, everyone shows a high level of expertise, care and kindness. My family and I will be forever thankful that we were able to secure a place for my husband there. Gracewell also provides a 'wrap-around' care for family members, which is such a comfort.

Gracewell is the best of the best in every way possible. My gran is 102 years old now and her quality of life has improved beyond all our expectations during the three years she has been a resident. Nothing is too much trouble for any of the staff who ensure that my gran enjoys every minute of every
day. They not only tend to her needs but regularly will go that extra mile offering comfort to her and us when needed. She is never left out of activities and is always encouraged to do as much for herself as she is capable of. Our family cannot praise Gracewell enough if only all care homes could be run this way.

Our mother has been a resident at Gracewell since March 2019. She was transferred from Kent to be nearer to me to support her. All the staff are incredibly caring. Helping Mum settle in with lots of recent moves in her life. She has settled in well. Recently she has become less able but the staff recognise
her needs having got to know her well. She is comfortable and safe, which is a great comfort to us as a family living across the UK. They also support the family - understanding how we are feeling and how they can support. A very happy place to live. Thank you.

So, so welcoming, what a super place to take retirement and a little help when needed as you grow into older age. Fantastic, friendly staff, well they are all stars in my eyes. Mum has been here for over two years with a terminal illness, which by some miracle has spared her over 18 months longer.
She has gone downhill dramatically in the last two months and is at the stage of needing to be fed and assisted with mobility, sadly these last two have not increased to the extent
required.
The staff positions at the end of this profile page are not up to date, at least a year out!

My mother was a resident on the nursing floor of the home from September 2017 until she sadly passed away on the 9th February 2019. During that time I have nothing but praise for the care she received. I am sure her life was extended during that time. The professionalism and continuity of the staff

The setting itself is modern, always clean and welcoming. The staff are really friendly and go out of their way to make each day interesting and fun for the residents, with the "Daily Sparkle" newsletter and a great range of activities every day. The rooms are comfortable and my Grandma has a lovely
view onto the gardens with a little patio outside her door and bird feeders. She enjoys being at Gracewell and is looked after very well.

My mother-in-law has been a resident for 18 months and throughout that time we have experienced nothing but kindness, compassion and good humour from all the staff at Gracewells Maids Moreton.


Moving to a care home is never an easy decision, but Gracewells went to great lengths to ensure that my

mother-in-law settled in, finding her a 'buddy' and trying to ensure that there were activities suited to her interests. They also extended their help to the rest of the family and helped us to understand more about the challenges of dementia. We know that my mother-in-law is well cared for and that we can raise any issues we may have with the care team at any time. Regular relatives' meetings are a really useful two-way exchange of information which enable the management to introduce forthcoming events and for relatives to provide feedback.


Gracewells is a very welcoming place - it always looks immaculate, but it is really the lovely staff who make it the wonderful home that it is.

I think mum is generally happy and well cared for. However, I think because she is always in bed she misses out on all organised activities and this is often replaced by one to one contact. Mum also finds it difficult to hear/understand some of the staff for whom English is not their first language.
I would suggest that the rota provides for one English person on at a time. I think there is some lack of continuity between shifts.

On arrival at reception, there was a warm welcome by the receptionist. When I visited my mother in law, she looked well cared for. Her overall appearance was clean, dressed appropriately and hair properly brushed. Her room was clean and tidy. When I required assistance a senior member of staff I spoke
to was efficient and helpful. I left on that day, happy in the knowledge that this is the right home for my ageing relative.

My mother had lost her confidence following falls in another residential home. She was diagnosed with heart failure in hospital and had given up hope of enjoying life. Gracewell motivated my mum to try to walk and since living there she always has a smile on her face. She is so happy and cared for by
the staff. The home is well run and nothing is too much trouble. Staff decorated her room on her birthday and even sorted out a hairdressing appointment for her so she could attend a birthday outing looking good! Thank you so much.

I have recently submitted a review, but feel I would like to add another point.
At a relatives meeting a few months ago, I suggested that a support group for relatives of family members in Gracewell of Maids Moreton would be helpful. We are experiencing some difficult times with my mother in law's
dementia journey and I felt it might be helpful to have a support group to share our experiences and to hear other people's experiences and difficulties, as well as the good times.


Within a few weeks, the staff had begun the process of looking into starting the support group and now it is up and running, with monthly meetings to chat and to listen to talks about the various aspects of dementia, all helping us to understand and to try to come to terms with the changes in our loved one's dementia journey.
This is another example of the support from the staff at Maids Moreton, and their compassion and eagerness to help and to understand.

Mum moved to Maids Moreton over a year ago for full care and her dementia was progressing. The extraordinary care, kindness and compassion showed by every staff member from the friendly greeting as you walk through the door, to the housekeeping staff and the amazing team of carers and nurses - is evident
on every visit to see Mum. As Mum's dementia progresses, the staff and carers are there to help her with every challenge and new care need, always aware of preserving dignity and helping with great kindness and understanding, both for Mum and the whole family. The in-house hairdresser is such a joy and Mum still takes great pleasure from seeing her beautiful weekly hairdo!


The family are so welcomed and encouraged to be a part of resident's life - take meals with them, attend activities, and spend time in the various lounges or very attractive Bistro - which has the best coffee! The grounds are very attractive and relaxing - weather permitting - and wheelchair accessible outside.

    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 60 registered maximum number of service users is 12, which has been reached with 14 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Lisa-Ann Basson

Job Title: Home Manager

I am a qualified Learning Disability Nurse and have worked in the care industry since I was 18, starting out as a care worker and progressing into leadership roles. Over the years, I have built a strong foundation of skills and knowledge.


Before this, I was Director of Governance and Policy within a large health and social care provider. In this role, I set up governance and quality systems, introduced digital systems to improve oversight, and developed organisational processes to ensure compliance and sustainability.


As Home Manager of Maids Moreton Hall, it’s important that I’m resilient, empathetic, and have strong leadership skills. A good manager must be able to listen, solve problems, and support their team to deliver safe, effective, and person-centred care. Integrity, accountability, and the ability to adapt to challenges are also vital.


Spending time with residents is the highlight of my day. Hearing their stories, seeing them smile, and knowing that the team and I are making a positive difference to their lives reminds me why I chose this profession.


I am proud when residents and their families feel safe, valued, and supported. I am equally proud of my team when I see them growing in confidence and skills, working together to provide excellent care.


Outside of work, I enjoy family time with my husband and three children, and I’m a big animal lover with dogs and cats at home. I also enjoy travelling and visiting my farm in South Africa, reading, and creative projects.
