My mother moved to Gracewell of Maids Moreton a few months ago with mild dementia. Our large family has been so impressed by the care and organisation there, ensuring that residents have dignity, personalised physical and emotional support and opportunities to undertake activities. Carers are well organised
and staffing levels high and family members are encouraged to visit and provide information that links the resident to their previous life. The decor is vibrant and modern, combining practicality with a luxury feel and there is a friendly bistro where residents and families can meet informally. Although dementia is a difficult and deteriorating condition, my mother has been given the best care and we are kept updated with her progress and changes in care. The management and staff are very good at communicating with us, know Mum well and enable contact between Mum and us through Skype or FaceTime to help us keep in touch when unable to visit. Thank you!

My mother has received personal care from the majority of the carers, in particular her team carer. The management, catering and office staff are concerned and caring. The site manager has been very helpful in arranging mum's personal effects in her room.

My mother came to this wonderful care home three weeks ago.
All the staff are wonderful.
So caring and kind.
My mother has settled in now really well, it was hard at first, as she has had a stroke.
But a big thank you to everyone at Maids Moreton, they have been absolutely magnificent.

Our mother died last week after living at Maids Moreton for nearly 4 years. It is impossible to think of another place, or another group of staff, where she would have been cared for with such extraordinary compassion, loving personal care and attention and professionalism. The family believes our
mother was extremely fortunate to have been cared for so well and been so happy in her last months and days.

Gracewell of Maids Moreton provides an outstanding level of care and assistance for the elderly. Without exception, the staff are kind, careful and competent. My father is 90 and has been a resident for nearly 3 months. During this time his health and physical well-being have improved enormously.
Highly
recommended.

I have been to visit a lady who is a resident at Gracewell and was so impressed with the level of care I saw and the warmth the staff showed all the residents. The receptionist was a great front of house, not only was she professional on the desk, she took the time to go and speak with each resident
in the bistro room. The home smells fresh and clean and it was so nice to see such engagement with the staff, especially activities manager who spent quality time with everyone in the room.

I have had to visit someone in another home and I can honestly day the comparison is a world apart. It's a shame that not everybody who has to go into a home does not receive this level of care.

I would like to greatly thank the medical team, the care workers and support staff for their help and support with my mum over the past seven months. You (a couple were exceptional) enabled mum to have what is best described as the best last few months than she has had for the last few years. Thank
you team 10/10

Management of on the wrong foot a bit. Introductory to home process poor, unanswered questions, etc etc ended OK, though.

Both of my parents lived at Maids Moreton following strokes in 2013. My father enjoyed a year of comfortable living and my mother who had Alzheimer's died two weeks ago, peacefully and with dignity and all the care and love that the staff could give. I could not have wished for a better last home for
either of them. Moreover, we - the family - were and still are made welcome. Thank you, Maids Moreton. I will be forever in your debt.

The word 'wonderful' does not seem adequate to describe the care our Dad receives at Gracewell of Maids Moreton. He is well looked after, respected and receives good quality of care that is 'simply the best'! We cannot thank the staff enough and we feel secure in the knowledge that he is happy in his
environment. He has been a resident since July 2015 and despite suffering dementia and Alzheimer's, he has found a new level of happiness that we could not have expected anywhere else.

After a few initial hiccups on arrival to Gracewell of Maids Moreton e.g. television did not work, no table present, no toilet seat in place, menu issues, and clothes went missing. Over the weeks, the above has been sorted out. I have found all the carers helpful and supportive.

It was quite an upheaval moving both grandparents from their home into residential care but the staff and carers were so welcoming, to them and the family and made them feel right at home straight away. My grandad had suffered for months with a badly ulcerated leg but the carers dealt with it straight
away and in a few weeks it has completely healed and he is able to walk again properly. The carers work very hard, very attentive and my nan loves them. I am so reassured and happy to know that they are being looked after in a safe and friendly environment.

Although the individual carers have always been kind and respectful towards my mother, I am increasingly concerned that the level of staffing is insufficient and that this is causing stress for the staff and long waiting times for the residents. As the only thing, my mother has going for her now is
the fact that she is still continent. I find it unacceptable that she has to wait so long to be taken to the loo. Bearing in mind what we are paying for her care, I would expect this to be remedied immediately.

My mother and stepfather are both fairly new to the home. They are finding the transition from their own home very difficult. Despite this, the staff are upbeat and very caring. The facilities are excellent and the best we have seen in the area. The only slight downside is that sometimes the menus do
not match the high standards set by the staff and the facilities.

Right from the start of our first visit, we were treated with genuine kindness and made to feel welcome. We were given lots of information to help make the difficult decision of putting our father in a home. All the staff are amazing, they are thoughtful, kind and uplifting. The overall feel of the
home is like walking into a hotel. The decor is tasteful and every room is light. We were also very impressed with the cleanliness of the whole building. The decision was hard but our minds are at ease knowing our father is safe and in the best place possible.

I have been here for 6 months. This is a pleasant care home to live in, the home is well organised; a reasonable range of activities are provided. Staff are pleasant and helpful; access to external bodies (e.g bridge club in the local town) access to the close-by local church/chapel is good, and local
residents make us welcome to a weekly discussion session. Staff are pleasant and helpful, outings are arranged. Residents meetings have increased recently, with staff interaction appropriate.

Current Review Score: 9.6 (9.560)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.6 (9.560) out of 10 for Maids Moreton Hall is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.6 out of 5 from 18 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.9 out of 5 from 17 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.635 for Maids Moreton Hall is calculated as follows: ( (152 Excellents x 5) + (42 Goods x 4) + (16 Satisfactorys x 3) + (1 Poors x 2) ) ÷ 211 Ratings = 4.635
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.925 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Maids Moreton Hall is based on 17 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.925
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 60 registered maximum number of service users is 12, which has been reached with 17 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Job Title: Home Manager

I completed my nurse training at Buckinghamshire Chiltern University College in 2006 and did postgraduate training at Brighton University.

I began working for Care UK as a carer in 2000, and I found it to be an enjoyable experience where I learned so much. It was what persuaded me to follow a nursing career. I had many great years working in care homes and had served as a Deputy Manager since 2019.

In order to fulfil my role, it’s important to be a keen listener and to be approachable, empathetic and responsive to enquiries. You must be able to receive critiques and complete action plans too, and continuously update your skills and knowledge.

My favourite part of the day is my walk around. It’s a great opportunity to interact with colleagues and residents, and to have a quick overview of the home and the environment. I look forward to continuing to get to know the residents and assisting with risk assessments and care planning, so that care is delivered to an excellent standard.

I love writing poems and songs outside of work, and I enjoy singing and dancing too. I also like to spend time walking in the park and driving around the country.
