The staff here are great and as my mum had a really bad brain trauma she needs total care and support which in the main has been vital. The food I feel could be 'healthier' but I haven't seen all meals - there seems to be a lot of baked beans. Sometimes it seems as though they are understaffed which
means waiting a while for Mum to be changed although this has improved in recent months. Overall I'm very satisfied!

Care has improved due to regular staff on the floor.
He runs out of medication regularly which we have to keep chasing.
Some carers are very good and do genuinely care.
Other carers' attitudes could be improved.
Overall happy except when chasing for medication.
Reply from Neela Mudalli, Home Manager at Acacia Care CentreWe thank you for taking the time to provide a review. It was a pleasure meeting you and discussing personally areas of concern. I am happy you now feel reassured that we are now keeping staff on the same floor as much as possible, to enable our residents to build good rapport with our staff. Whilst we constantly carry out medication reviews, some items are not stock piled topical medication but we do liaise with the GP on his visits and will ask that an extra prescription is written to ensure sufficient topical medication available to prevent running out between prescriptions. We are committed to delivering quality care and all staff complete mandatory training and I am pleased you acknowledge that many of our team do a very good job and are genuinely caring. I will share your feedback with the team as I would like you to feel every carer in our home, maintain equally high standards.

The staff are very attentive, kind and caring. The activities provided and the activities coordinator are outstanding. The health care assistants are always kind and take time when helping with personal care/hygiene and treat their clients with immense dignity. I would highly recommend this home. It
has taken a huge burden off my family to know that mum is being cared for at such a high standard.

You need more experienced staff and not keep changing the staff as the residents and staff don't get a chance to build up a rapport with each other. The nurses need to get to know what medication is given regularly. They change the staff about so much so the residents and staff don't have continuity.
My husband is on the dementia floor so building confidence and continuity is very important for all the residents.

Acacia Care looked after my mother in her final two years with great care and dignity, friendliness and humour.
They are always welcoming to family and visitors, and on her passing, they could not have been more helpful. I would highly recommend them.

My friend has been a resident on the dementia floor at Acacia Care Centre for almost 5 years. Their high standards have been maintained and the care on his floor is excellent giving me great peace of mind. However, the rooms and gardens are beautifully maintained - worth every penny!

Current Review Score: 9.8 (9.766)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.8 (9.766) out of 10 for Acacia Care Centre is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 14 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.9 out of 5 from 14 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.916 for Acacia Care Centre is calculated as follows: ( (155 Excellents x 5) + (9 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) + (1 Poors x 2) ) ÷ 166 Ratings = 4.916
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.85 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Acacia Care Centre is based on 14 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.85
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 62 registered maximum number of service users is 12.4, which has been reached with 14 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
