Brunel House is a warm, friendly care home. After looking around several, the feel of the home made us choose it for our mother.

Staff are all very warm & welcoming, it has been a smooth transition for our mother.

Having arrive at Brunel Care Home as a patient, I was so impressed with the care and atmosphere that I decided - being 98 that this is where I want to be and became a resident.
It was a good decision. My family have all been and are very happy with what they see, and are so pleased that I am well looked after.

There are activities to join in if you wish, a cinema and a large lounge and a garden to enjoy. Also a "CAFE" where we can entertain our visitors. The staff are all friendly and so helpful. Brunel has given me a home and more.

Everyone at the home is very welcoming & approachable.
From the moment we arrived the staff were very attentive and organised every thing we needed to get dad settled in.
My mum is also here on a different floor and the progress she has made is fantastic.

We could not ask for better care .

The care for my mother, who was dying, was faultless. The care staff and nurses did everything and more, to ensure mum was comfortable and felt cared for and loved. The care staff also provided care to us as family at this very stressful time. They kept us informed, sat with mum when we were away and gave us love and support.

I was honoured to visit Brunel recently and attend a small celebration and I am happy to say all my previous misconceptions on what a care home should be were completely thrown away the second I walked in.
The reception was clean and both staff on desks were incredibly welcoming and polite. It was clean and pleasant, bright, and the atmosphere was positive from the get go.
Walking through the corridor you could see all the posters and programmes for the week and upcoming events, the lifestyle team clearly go above and beyond in organising activities catered to the residents.
I was fortunate enough to meet the dementia ambassador who gave me an insight into how those living with a cognitive impairment recognise the world around them, and I was even more fortunate to sit with some residents and get to know them and their life stories.

Everyone at the home was an absolute pleasure to speak to, if I had to put a relative into care i would 100% choose Brunel

Mum had been reluctant to move into a care home, but after a couple of falls, made her decision to move into Brunel House. From the very start, she settled in and enjoyed the wonderful friendly staff team. Mum likened the standards to a hotel.
She really enjoyed the entertainments and the creative classes laid on, also the Christmas Carol service. Mum frequently reported back that the food was delicious, especially the puddings!

Thank you all, for the genuine love & care given to my lovely Mum, you are a great team.

Mum arrived at Brunel House in Nov 2024 with some trepidation, however, the staff were absolutely wonderful & she soon settled in. Mum said on many occasions how happy & content she was & that she had made the right decision to move in. Mum loved chatting to the staff & fellow residents, taking part in activities and being included in what was going on.

Mum, myself & my sister were given peace of mind knowing Mum was safe, loved and cared for.

Have visited several times. My sister is at Brunel House & whilst she has no choice where she was sent after hospital release, it has worked out well due to proximity to her home & friends. Staff are excellent & on the whole caring & friendly. Food could be better. I have not rated activities or value as I have no experience.

My mother died at Brunel House this week.
The rest of your homes should use Brunel as a blueprint for the best care of both residents and family. Mums death was very quick but your staff not only took time to look after Mum but also us, as family. The speed of Mums death was a shock but I can't fault all the home did. We we consolled, not just by carers, but also cleaners, maintenance and chefs.

Many thanks to you all, you know who you are!!!

Meeting appointment set up easily. Greeted by all cordially & courteously. Meeting went well, with staff understanding and sympathising with the situation, advising the next steps to be taken. Given calling card of main management member and they are happy to be contacted if more assistance is required.

We left the premises feeling reassured and confident of a positive outcome for our long-term resident relative.

I love interacting with the residents at Brunel House as I carry out my administration duties. I provide support to the Home Manager, Deputy Manager, relatives and residents, as well as other departments within the home.

My biggest achievement whilst working here has been understanding the payroll admin, because it was very difficult to get to grips with. It felt like learning a foreign language!

When I'm not at work, I like to spend time with family and friends; we go to the cinema or to the races.

I've worked at Brunel House since 2016. I enjoy working in Reception and meeting all the relatives (they actually become friends after a while).

I have met a lot of very interesting people and shared many ups and downs with them. I believe it's nice to see a friendly face when you walk into the home and try to give a happy vibe to visitors.

I also get the chance to make friends with a lot of the residents and help them in whatever way I can.

I work with a lot of very nice, caring people of all age groups- I like that, especially as I am one of the oldest members of staff!

Stacy PerkinsJob Title:Dementia AmbassadorJoined: 2013

Hi, my name is Stacy and I am the Dementia Ambassador at Brunel House. My role as an ambassador is to promote person-centred care of the highest standard. I have recently qualified as a trainer with the Alzheimer's Society, this will play a key role in raising awareness and understanding of dementia, and make a positive difference to our residents by empowering our team to develop good practice.

I have worked within the care sector for 19 years and have been at Brunel House since 2013. Whilst at Brunel House I trained as a Care Practitioner and have also worked as an Activities coordinator.

Delivering activities and social events remains a big part of who I am. To make someone smile or hear them laugh, to be the person who has brightened someone's day, to be the ears to listen and the arms that comfort, to redirect thoughts and feelings that may shadow them at times: this is the best feeling in the world.

I live locally with my husband and two daughters. Family is everything to me and we spend our spare time creating cherished memories.
