Outstanding care. My father was looked after by compassionate, patient and joyful staff for over five years. I am enormously grateful to Bridge House and all the incredible staff that work there and look after our most beloved ones.

Excellent facilities and garden. The activity coordinators are brilliant and organise a lot of activities. Have been some staff shortages, which has impacted on some aspects of care. I have seen some messy rooms and individuals after food times.

My mum looks better than she has in a long time - she is engaged and settled so well after a reluctant arrival. I have received photos of her looking happy this is very important to me. She is well looked after and well fed thank you.

One very noticeable thing about Bridge House is the generally cheerful and welcoming impression given by all members of staff – especially impressive during what must be very straining times. No one ever makes you feel a nuisance. There is sometimes a difference of information – e.g. on whether or not masks need to be worn in the garden – as is sometimes a bit difficult to keep up with changes of information.

My Mum has been a resident of Bridge House for over five years. During that time she has been well looked after by the kind and caring staff. She has enjoyed the excellent events organised by the amazing events team, including the quizzes, singers and entertainment and in August this year enjoyed her 90th birthday. During Covid the staff have worked hard to keep everyone safe while ensuring the residents are still able to enjoy the events at the home.

All of the staff are caring, friendly and approachable. The accommodation is excellent, clean and well cared for. The food is varied, tasty and nutritious. The activities team are hard-working, lively and always happy! Throughout Covid, the team have worked tirelessly to maintain standards in very difficult circumstances. Dad has been very happy there!

Whilst fully appreciative of current circumstances, I’m struggling to see value for money. The furniture in the rooms is poor and the food leaves a lot to be desired. Overall positive but these failings need to be addressed.

Review from J T (Brother of Resident) published on 22 December 2021 Submitted via Website

I am very satisfied with the care that is given. The environment is meticulously kept both in the communal areas and the individual rooms. Each resident is helped to personalise their own room. There are also excellent communal facilities. The overall running of the home is professional and efficient. The office is well run and attends to all requests. The in front staff are extremely helpful and go out of their way to solve problems. My impression is that the individual nursing care is very good. The overall health and well-being of the patients is their first concern. My brother has been the recipient of much loving-kindness at Bridge House which I know he really appreciates after a number of difficult years of home care by visiting home carers who were barely functional. As the cost of care at Bridge House is very high, I would be disappointed if I could not give this glowing report. My thanks to all the staff for their excellent work.

Excellent care of my wife, despite the challenges of Covid-19 and of her very variable moods. The lifestyle staff have been exceptionally helpful, well beyond the call of duty, in finding ways to engage her, and have even taken her out in a wheelchair to see the Christmas lights in Abingdon. Very impressive care from all concerned.

Overall Experience
There are so many exceptional staff at Bridge House that it is difficult to choose one thing that encapsulates the high quality of care, love and friendship the residents receive to enhance their well being and sense of routine.
My partner has been a resident at Bridge House for 7 years. He is happy and settled. The carers are all so kind and loving that I know he is looked after in the best possible way. They know him so well they can recognize any change in his health or mood and react accordingly to bring a smile back to his face. I am kept informed of everything that affects his care and health, am made very welcome and always experience kindness and friendship from all the Bridge House Team.
Covid-19 has produced many challenges. I applaud the personal sacrifices made by the Bridge House team to ensure everyone's safety and well being and the ways you have enabled residents and families to keep in touch.

You are amazing. thank you for all the care and love you give my partner.

Could not have found a better home for my mum. Recent COVID restrictions in my view have been detrimental to her care but there has previously been more flexibility and who can tell where we go from here.

Since my mother arrived at Bridge House Care Home more than three years ago, my sister and I have been constantly impressed by the high degree of genuine, heartfelt care given. This last year of lockdowns has been extremely difficult for everyone and it has been difficult that we cannot visit Mum, but we know that she is being looked after by a great team. Nothing is too much trouble, even when we call all the time for updates. Mum is in the right place.

My mother-in-law moved to Bridge House Care Home during the pandemic and other than her first day and for visits in reception, we have been unable to see her in her room or elsewhere in the home.
All of our contact with staff members has been positive and everything I have seen and read has been of excellent quality.
I am looking forward to being more involved as the pandemic eases but meanwhile I know that she is being well cared for.

Thank you.

Bridge House Care Home has put the health and safety of its residents and staff to the fore during the Covid Pandemic. While this has meant that the relatives such as myself have not had physical contact with their loved ones I recognise that it is for the good of all. The care given to residents particularly to provision of activities for them been excellent.

My mother moved into Bridge House on the 1st June with advanced Dementia. Despite the difficulties relating to the COVID virus she appears to be happy and content and also now looks better than she did a few months ago. The activity programme is comprehensive and despite my mother not being able to comprehend what is going on most of the time I do think she is benefitting from activities going on in the background.

Both my parents moved into Bridge House over a year ago and we are delighted with the care they have received, particularly through the pandemic. Bridge House took immediate steps to protect all their residents and whilst we have not been able to visit, quite understandably, they keep us in touch very effectively.

Bridge House provides exceptional care in a clean, bright and very happy environment. The staff are always helpful and friendly and you really feel like they do love and want to care for your loved one as you would personally. Communication has been great, especially during this difficult Covid-19 time and you can always get through to the carers and nurse on your loved one’s floor. They provide excellent varied activities - both in groups and individually, which always keeps the residents amused. It’s such a difficult decision moving a relative into care but with Bridge House I know my mother is in safe hands.

Mum spent the last five years of her long life here and was one of the earliest residents. She was extremely well looked after and the staff related well to her. She took part in many activities, as long as she could, and during her last illness was cared for with sympathy and great kindness. her only complaints were about the variable quality of meals and the necessity to use agency staff.

The family appreciated being made welcome and coming to know many of them by name.
