My husband is a dementia patient and, as such, he has times when he can be difficult. He is always treated with great kindness and respect by staff who are always happy and smiling. Nothing is too much trouble for them and they have infinite patience and a wonderful sense of calm. He tells me 'it is
a good place'.


When entering Bridge House you feel you are going into a large family home.

My father has recently become a resident at Bridge House Care Home. He originally went in for two weeks respite but very quickly decided this is where he wanted to stay permanently.
He had been struggling with walking in his bungalow and had fallen several times.
At Bridge House, he felt safer with
24-hour care. He loves his room and has filled it with his favourite possessions from home.
He says he feels safer now and he is joining in with activities and has a new lease of life.
He said 'everyone is kind and looking after me so I will stay here'.

A very well-run care home in the middle of Abingdon, which has advantages of being near shops, the town centre etc, yet beside the River Thames. A well-designed and well laid out building.


Good management with attentive, cheerful staff. Good programme of activities. Intriguing blend with a 'club'

allowing older non-residents to use facilities (cafe, gym, cinema, salon etc) which brings delightful life to the place. A good business model.

Nice rooms, especially end of the corridor. Good food. Activities most days. Bistro for drinks, light snacks and meeting other people. Very good, friendly staff. Near the park and next to a supermarket. Cannot think of anywhere better.

Bridge House looked after my mother wonderfully well for two and a half years until the end of her life. Bridge House doesn't look like a care home which was why my mother chose it. She could get her hair done in the lovely hair salon then go and have a coffee at the bistro which was her normal routine
before moving to Bridge House. And she was able to go out with the driver on trips around Abingdon which gave her an important sense of freedom
The Riverly Club staff, nurses and care staff took the time to get to know her and understand her needs - she didn't always make it easy but they never stopped trying. They grasped what was most important to my mother and kept that at the forefront of her care, especially as her needs changed over time.
Their end of life care was outstanding - both in how they kept my mother comfortable, peaceful and pain-free and how they supported our family. I can't fault them. I feel very fortunate to have had Bridge House looking after my mother.

Well-orchestrated care over the two and half years my relative was living there, which was impressive given how her condition changed during her time at Bridge House. They embraced family involvement and were always open to thinking of new ways to stimulate the care home environment for its residents.

My relative is enjoying making new friends and is really beginning to feel "at home" at Bridge House. The décor and furnishings are well thought out to magic up a pleasing ambience in all areas and the positivity of the staff are conducive to a happy life.

My father has been here for over 2 years.


During this time, his dementia/Parkinson's has deteriorated resulting in his ability to communicate and walk. Despite this, the home has been extremely responsive to meet his needs. They have taken time to learn more about him as a person and encourage his

hobbies and interests. All the staff are caring, professional and cheerful. They are well led by the manager.

Overall care and safety is good. Some areas could be improved such as foot and nail care. We pay £5500 a month, surely £20 of that could be used on monthly Chiropodist visits. I have to cut my mother's nails and hair as both need to be paid for and this mounts up each month on top of toiletries etc.
Toe nails are not easy to deal with in old age.

I have been so impressed with the many instances of particular care and kindness towards my sister and other residents and the efforts made to give them pleasure. It is a lovely place to visit as it is always clean, attractive and welcoming.

The Bridge House has taken great care of our friend since February 2015. We visited many homes in a 30 mile radius and The Bridge House, Abingdon was top of the list by a large margin.

My mother moved into Bridge in December 2016. The care she receives is superb - it's such a relief to know that she is safe, so well looked after and genuinely adored by the staff.
The lifestyle coordinators work really hard and encourage residents to join in and try new activities.
The party arranged
for my mother's 100th birthday was fantastic.
I would not hesitate to recommend Bridge House.
I cannot comment re value for money - it's very expensive but is on a par cost-wise with other care homes - what price can you put on a loved ones well being and safety?

Our Mother suffers from a rare terminal neurological illness, Progressive Supranuclear Palsy. She has been a resident of Bridge House for three years. Over that time both her nursing and care have been carried out by the staff with the greatest of kindness and professionalism. The fact that despite
her illness progressing steadily, she has never had an infection and always looks her best is a great testimony to the high standards at Bridge House. I would recommend them without hesitation.

In early 2015 my wife was diagnosed with 'Lewy body' dementia, and by November of that year she was admitted to Bridge House Care Home, Thames View, Abingdon for specialist care in one of their south-facing rooms. While she was a little resentful at the beginning of her stay, it was only the professional
care of the staff that led her to accept her situation. After 22 months however, her health deteriorated suddenly and she died on 4th September 2017. I am happy to recommend Bridge House to future clients.

When you walk into Bridge House Care Home it feels more like a hotel than a care home. Beautiful en suite rooms spacious and with all "mod cons" suited all ages and disabilities. Lovely communal areas, plenty of space for walking inside and out. Food was always well presented and good choice on offer.
Nothing was too much trouble. The staff were all superb, well trained and very caring. Nursing staff were always on duty. Laundry and in house cleaning to a high standard. I loved The Bistro for coffee and lunch. A perfect place to stay.

I cannot say how pleased my sister and I were that we found Bridge House Care Home for mum.
The facilities are 2nd to none and nothing was too much trouble for any of the staff whether it be the nurses, carers, domestic/maintenance staff the two absolutely fabulous lifestyle coordinators, hairdressers
and reception/driving staff. What really makes a difference is how all the staff act as "one family" under the guidance of the manager. Unbelievable care.

Mum and Dad had a wonderful time - they felt the two weeks of respite care was like a holiday. They were very pleased with the friendliness of the staff and the quality of all the services. Mum loved the high-quality furniture and curtains. They made a lot of friends and are thinking of going back permanently.

Our mother came to Bridge House at very short notice, with a progressive brain tumour and a short and difficult life expectancy. Bridge House bent over backwards to accommodate her quickly and make her feel instantly at home. Bridge House feels like a good hotel, but with confident and exceptional care
and, most important of all, great compassion and humanity. My mother received excellent care, tailored to her physical needs, but was also recognised for the individual she was and treated with dignity, humanity and compassion, but also kindness and genuine friendship throughout her time there. All that care was also extended to her family and we were supported and cared for right up until the end of her life and beyond. Bridge House and its staff felt like an extension of our own home and family and we were made to feel completely comfortable there, day or night, even after our mother died. It manages to be an exceptional care home, without ever feeling like a care home at all. We are very grateful to them.

Marta

Marta Leszko

Job Title: Home Manager Joined: 2022

Marta has been part of the Carebase family since 2015 and, as a registered nurse and trained Dementia specialist, she has extensive elderly care experience.


Marta spent an earlier part of her career as Deputy Manager at Bridge House, before returning as Home Manager in 2022. She holds a master’s degree and Leadership and Management qualifications.


Marta is passionate about enabling our wonderful residents to live life to the fullest and providing expert guidance and support to families.


Speaking about her role at Bridge House, Marta said: “Nothing beats seeing residents smile, knowing they are happy and fulfilled. I’m proud to support and develop our wonderful team to deliver excellent care.”


In her spare time, Marta enjoys keeping active by cycling and doing Pilates. She also enjoys travelling and likes to relax by going to the cinema and spending time with friends.

Anita

Anita Radecka

Job Title: Deputy Manager Joined: 2016

Anita has been part of our Bridge House family since 2016. From a young age, Anita knew her future was in the care sector when she completed work experience in a hospice and found herself staying late and returning every weekend to spend time with patients. She loved being able to make a positive difference in people’s lives and that passion has definitely transferred to our residents, families and team at Bridge House. And, with extensive care experience including roles as carer, senior carer, head of care, care services manager, and deputy manager, she was our perfect choice for acting home manager.


Speaking about her position at Bridge House, Anita said: “I love how every day is different and that every day you have the opportunity to make someone smile, to make their day better and to have a positive difference – it’s really rewarding. I’m also proud to support and develop our amazing Bridge House team – they truly are exceptional.”


In her spare time, Anita enjoys spending time with her family; her husband Leion and little boy Isaac as well as enjoying a good movie and nice ice cream!
